- Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers with very special guests Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Del, Rob, and Ronnie McCoury and Jason Carter playing "The Crow" at DelFest at The Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland Maryland on 5/27/2012
Steve Martin: Making me laugh and smile and dance since 1974. Thanks, my good man.
Steve Martin one of the most talented people on planet Earth!
Bela and Bush dressed for beers around the campfire. luv it
Show biz, some dress nice for being on stage, and then....
Didn't see this until today! Funny 😂❤
The fiddle player ( with SCRs , blond hair glasses) is Corey Sanders. Outstanding musician. I flew my plane to Alaska a number years ago and cleared customs at Northway Akaska. His dad was the customs agent! Thats how i learned about him and the Steep Canyon Rangers.
Sooooo cool!!!
I like how Bela Fleck and Sam Bush walk off together. Best buds for life lol.
How can you not like this? Perhaps the greatest lineup of Bluegrass musicians alive today.
I just found this video and wow! What a line up. I have been partial to Sam Bush and Bela Fleck for decades and even saw them play live together at Teluride once. Steve did a great job gettin' all these pickers together. Thanks for this very cool video!
I hardly ever comment, but I wanted to thank you for this and also focusing more on the hands and artistry as opposed to the fame of the faces. Wonderful song and I hope you film more. :-)
Good point
So much musical genius on one stage
Великолепно!!!! Какое исполнение! Какой ритм!! Браво, Стив Мартин!!!!
Так и хочется пуститься в пляс))))
unreal all these fine folks on the same stage
....Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers...nice suits...great plucking...
Certainly via Something to Crow about. Yesss
What a flippin' blast man! Yeah man!! Steve is so happy I could cry! 😍😍
this music sounds smooth keep up the good work guys
Talk about breaking it down there own way!!!! The solos are AWESOME!!!!
Aaaand Sam Bush still moves like he's in a metal band. Very cool group of players!
Steve must've had some pretty cool jam sessions back in the day when he and Martin Mull shared a place. Mull is a very good musician as well, not to mention, incredibly funny.
I can not find any new video s of any of theses guys .been looking for some new stuff of bela
Glad to hear what this fiddler has to say with his instrument. Really love it. Then Sam is there a master grander? I don't think so but all mandolins speak to me and have something to say .. like Mike Guggina of Steep Canyon. His music always has something beautiful to say.
OMG, that is so fantastic! I felt I had died and gone to heaven.
Steep Canyon Rangers are always great!!!!!!
Wow ... he's for real. And he writes songs too! 💜🎶⛩〰
Kudos to Steve Martin for writing the tune and for helping to shine a light on Bluegrass!
Nice to see Steve concentrating on 'Bluegrass' these days, didn't know he wrote the 'Crow'
thanks for the info.
He's not shining any light on bluegrass. Bluegrass already had plenty of light on it starting with Bill Monroe back in the 1940's and 1950's. Don't think Steve Martin is making bluegrass any more accessible because he's also a famous comedian.
If you take the founder (and namer) of Bluegrass, Mr Bill Monroe, and then say, “Stop right there. Nothing new is permitted”, then you have a dead form of music. Steve Martin himself is an old guy. Billy Strings, born in the year 1992, just won Entertainer of the Year from the International Bluegrass Music Assoc the other night. Del McCoury tied for best vocalist and back in the day sang with Monroe, but new, exciting young players have to come along to move the music forward.
Steve Martin and Bela?! ❤🎉
Extreme talent all around!
performed during one of the few moments when it wasn't raining that day!
Bela was going to start his break to early, before Jason Carter. But that's the beauty of live music. The spontanaeity of it is what make it so cool.
Love this
Just beautiful ~ my avatar is a crow
Bela Fleck a master with the banjo. Still a junior to Steve.
Junior in age only. 😊
Thanks, love this video, I think by now a dozen or more of the 'Views' are from me.
Great Music!
Funny that a "wild and crazy guy" from Cali has a band from North Carolina named "Steep Canyon" but we have no canyons..... 🤣..... But I love the passion for our heritage music... Bluegrass!
Wow!!!
Incredible
What fun!
All stars of Bluegrass for sure ....... but Bela and Sam are the MVP's IMO.
Don't forget Mr Steve Martin. He is an accomplished player in his own right.Saw him this year in Ft. Lauderdale on the Martin and Martin tour with his touring band.
@@jimweaver8405This is his touring band, The Steep Canyon Rangers.
@@rhondazuckerman4539 Thank you.
@@jimweaver8405 You're welcome. Saw Martin & Martin last year in Phila. Have been fans of the Steeps since before Steve found 'em! Was at the fest where this video was taken, as well at other bluegrass fests when Steve was with the Steeps. BTW, when Steve is not with the Steeps the Steeps play a completely different set of music.
Man--with all those instruments, it could have been a muddy mess, but it's perfect. Of course, there's no dobro!
I guess Jerry Douglas was busy.
magic moment
WOW
some great East Coast App....stuff
1:30 - folk jump-off - that fiddle drop is rather ablaze
My goodness what a fiddle break
😍
Great lineup, but the soundman did not bump up each solo instrument enough in the mix.
Lol the guy behind Steve looks like Bob Ross
LOL,that's just so funny. RIP Bob Ross.
Which one is Bella Fleck? I adore Steve Martin... there is something very sweet about him.
1:44 Why was that so... crispy?
Whats Noam doing on the Mando?? Lad
I thought Sam Bush and Bella Fleck were going to mix it up there for a few moments!
Great live session and talented group on stage. Are the Rangers still touring today?
Yes they are! I hope you get a chance to see them in your area. :)
i'm a Bella man, I use 3 fingers
I think Sam was trippin' balls :-)

Yo Yo Ma once played with u guys, ask Yo Yo Ma, help Hong Kong, and Blast Chinese Central Government!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good video but terrible sound.
I agree that is an awesome lineup… really too bad the sound guys couldn’t keep up. Difficult with so many breaks. Guess he just vamped like Steve did. If you’re not sure where the tune is going… fake it… improvise.
Steep Canyon Rangers would do well to let Marin get his own band. It is Not just about the banjo! Steep Canyon Rangers have their own sound and style and it changes when Martin is in the mix.
Drunk cameraman.
Hate to be negative, but obviously the camera man had no clue what was going on. Nice shot of a nodding head and not including the instrument and the hands. Awkward swish-pans as he/she tried to follow the action. This is the trouble with a one-camera video: no cover shots with #1 while #2 finds who's playing.
Great lineup, but videoed by an amateur apparently. Didn’t feel it did justice to the music or the musicians.

Filming done with the help of medical marijuana, a few bowls.
absolutely horrible camera work.
Do you have to be shameless to be an actor?
