:)
What you think about the event that created Witcher universe, so called Conjunction of the Spheres? What was it? BTW I love the show.
Hey, got three rather odd questions... And both involve THE FORCE OF PULLING YOU DOWN LIKE THE UNIVERSE'S GREATEST SUPERVILLAIN! (insert Evil Kyle laugh here)
First question: Dual Gravity. Based on the laws of physics, would Dual Gravity, (a la the movie "Upside down") be possible? Or would the two planets simply crash into each other due to the law of attraction?
Second question: Would a "floating island" Earth (a la Skyland, an old tv series) be possible? The intro to the show's episodes goes like this: "It is the 23rd Century, and the Earth has shattered into millions of inhabitable pieces." I'm just wondering whether that would even be possible given physics :'D
And finally, the third question: In the movie Patema Inverted, a scientific experiment somehow led to a portion of the population being "inverted", leading to them and all their children being born with opposing gravity. For example, you or I would simply stand on the surface of the earth, but these "Inverts" would literally fall into the sky, as though the ground is the ceiling. Is there anything within physics that you know of that could facilitate that? For... Not-supervillain-y purposes... *shifty eyes*
P.S. Love the subtle lore you've been building over the last couple of years with the show, and creating an entire universe around the Void (Which I'm thinking we should dub the Onyxian Abyss for an official name :P)
Oh yea? Who's gonna listen to my feelings? You? When I told someone I was depressed enough that I was seriously thinking about suicide they put me in a psych ward for a week, gave me anti psychotics till I was "stable" then kicked me out, and canceled my prescription for "health reasons" as the doctor put it. I've only gotten more depressed since then, but everyone acts like I was just trying to get attention. Nobody cares about you unless you have something to give, and nobodies gonna listen to you unless you pay them by the hour.
I have a question, is it possible to have a golden sword ? And how strong and practical would it be? Like the ottoman sultan had
"I've been to a lot of vets in the last couple of months"

Hey Kyle, Love the show as well as the laughs you give me
One question, how many bees would it really take to lift and steer an airliner like the bees in bee movie do?
I don't think it is possible for bees to lift and steer an airliner. The bees would have to stack themselves and the ones closest to the plane would be crushed.
Alot.
Well considering it would bee a lot of bees, so much so that you’d have to include multiple species which would kill each other.
r/theydidthemath already answered that (although i think the amount of weight the bees can carry is wrong) www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemath/comments/4t2jag/request_how_many_bees_would_it_take_to_carry_a/
So lets math this out. Let's start by calculating how much force in newtons we need. We need 4.5 newtons per pound to cancel gravity, more to generate actual lift. As a bee's maximum flight speed is 0.75mph, we'll say 5 newtons per pound.
An average sized plane (and one that looks like the one in Bee Movie) is a 737 that weighs up to 175,000lbs. So we can calculate that it needs 875,000N.
I found that 4000 average sized bees weigh 1lb. I found a study that bees generate about 20N per kilogram, or 2.2lbs.
So if we math that again, we get 875,000 / 20 = 43,750kg, or 96452.24lbs of bees. Times that by 4000 and we get....
385,808,960 bees required....to move a plane at 0.75mph.
Average honey bees have a footprint of 75mm, that is the area they take up on a surface. To pack them all on the surface of a plane, you'd need 28,935,672m^2. I started calculating the surface area of a 737, but I stopped after just the main body of the plane came up to just over 5600m^2.
So there's not nearly enough surface area for all those bees. And, you know, they can't fly nearly fast enough.
Yay! Super nerd 🤣🤣🤣 HAHAA. Thanks Kyle, keep up the great work. And yes, I will need all the luck I can get...
Could you do an episode about why you wouldn't want Domino's luck affecting ability?
Actually that's a power i would want. If an outcome would probably hurt me i would get lucky and it wouldn't. It can cushion itself. And besides you can use it more subtly. Like winning at casinos and scratch off tickets or getting that promotion you wanted.
you could do some insane things with it. Like, for example, accelerate radioactive decay. And turn a reactor into a bomb. Also diffusion is random, so it might take poison gas longer to get to you
I think he’s actually said before that he likes Domino’s luck ability because it implies a manipulation of entropy and that the implications of that mean she could have more power than the comics have shown.
@@TheWretchedOwl Oh really? Do you know when he had said that?
@@berhodes9201 I think it was in one of the superhero episodes about the powers of the mutants in the marvel universe.

I always believed that the super conductivity of silver zapped the super natural energy of monsters. Just like a wizard needs a pointy hat to channel energies silver can drain and I interrupt the energies that bind it together it's a more fictional take on it... or is it.
That Geralt voice is majestic.

Huh i guess thats what Geralt means when he says both swords are for monsters...
It means that what makes a monster is what it does, not what it looks like. Some non humans are not a threat. Some humans are monsters for the things they do. Geralt kills monsters, be they human or nonhuman.
This is what I love about Because Science; Kyle actually knows the franchises he covers, they don't just pick popular stuff as a view-grab.
As soon as Kyle got too real in the intro, I hit the bitter dregs in my coffee.
2:10 Also the reason for the expression "Blue bloods" since rich people used actual silver for their silverware, and as such they ingested enough silver to be noticeably bluer.
There's probably so many explanations for old sayings that the real reason is long since lost to time.
Kyle is not a Supervillain, he's just a cat drug dealer...

Papa Smurf was taking colloidal silver.
What about the low edge retention of silver, it would need to be sharpened after, or ever durring every fight, so the blade would have to be replaced often
Silver is a poor material to build a sword from:
a) it has a higher density than steel ~+20% which means it will be heavier
b) it has a much lower hardness; even Sterling alloys are low on the Rockwell scale compared to hardened steel
c) silver/steel welding (forged) is not feasible, as by the time the steel gets to 900-1100 C the silver would be liquid or having the steel at 700C would not be enough to weld it.
In other words, you would not have a solid built weapon. Most probably the outer silver layer would break off (if work hardened enough) or dent/chip at the first blow.
d) because of point c) maintenance for such a sword would be hard, as you would need to resharpen/reforge/patch the silver outer layer. If you do not, and moisture enters between
the steel and the silver, you will have created a battery that will slowly erode the iron from the steel into rust, weakening the blade.
e) in mythbuster fashion I built a Silver(Argentium) dagger (1000$ materials) and it performed worst than a 1$ steel one. Looks amazing though!
@@pascageorge950 how about silver spikes or arrow heads?
@@konstellashon1364 There are slot of efficient silver delivery systems in the Underworlds movies. As for weapon of choose, also historically, a spear and a bow and arrow are preferred. Swords, as cool as they are, were not used that often.
@@pascageorge950 yup. Swords get the glory, but spears actually did most of the work.
Underworld weapons were cool, yeah. Although, the final one claimed to have a sword of steel and silver. Yeesh.
But how about the axe from Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter? In the movie, it shows they took a regular axe and poured molten silver over the edge. Feasible? In the movie, at least, they show that non-silver metals can still pierce the skin.

Hey Kyle, love the show

Love your videos dude
Hey Kyle - I love the show!
Hey Kyle, I wanted to mention something about the second to last correction.
Yes, the monsters could be overly sensitive to silver ions, but honestly it doesn't even have to seem like some crazy anaphylactic shock.
If a small scrape from a silver sword could have a localized effect (think neuromuscular blockade) this could easily tip the balance of the fight. Doesn't matter how strong the monster is, if it can't use its limbs, it dies.
The chemistry is pretty simple and it could also explain why monsters can't use magic if it works by inhibiting the neuro system.
The vast majority of monsters do not wear any form of armor so cheap nicks or even parries with a silver sword could in theory be enough.
PS Love the show. Please more episodes on the Witcher :D
"Silver can handle monsters, but it can also handle.... mennn... " o.O 😂
Thanks for the great episode Kyle as well as the Because Science team. I wish to show my respect by challenging you to a nerd duel and proposing an alternative theory. I hypothesize that magical beings have an extreme inborn autoimmune response (allergy) to silver which causes their immune to attack itself. This condition could quickly lead to death in a few sword strokes if the monsters arn't carrying a epipen. I know someone (not a magical beast) who can have a reaction if they eat with silverware so I know metal allergies are a thing.
I've always enjoyed the clips. Can you make some clips about space time continuum's and about time travel?
"I'm not evil". Sounds like something an evil super-villain would say 🤔
He speaks openly of his evil plans, hoping that we won’t notice... rods from God, frickin LASER sharks, analyzing the kinds of poisons available from various plants... he is a true mastermind and we should obey... unless he holds us for ransom to the tune of “One trillion dollars!!” 😈😉
I really hope that Kyle will at least give a mention to sci-fi tech like Starlifing for next week's episode *crosses fingers*
The undercut is actually a very old hairstyle, simply because it's easy to do. In a time where you really couldn't blend hairstyles or do fades or anything like that shaving the sides off and leaving the top was one of the easiest hairstyles to do. Basically it was: shaved head, long hair trimmed with scissors or a knife or fire or something or a combo of both.
As soon as I started watching this I started scanning through the timebar to see if papa smurf was in it, and he is.

Holy crap at first I thought you had an amazingly long marker in you hand that would have been amazing.
A reasonable excuse would be that the silver kills off a microbe that is absolutely essential for every monster organism to live.
So the monster dies, because the microbes within it are wiped out.
So for a pre-thought experiment to the next video i'll describe something that is exactly like it.
In Destiny 2's first campaign The Red War; the Cabal having just destroyed another sun somewhere else in the universe move this sun destroying weapon(called the Almighty) to the one we call home. The way "it works" is by synchronizing itself with the magnetic field of whatever sun it's sitting 1AU away from while feeding material from a nearby planet in pulses every 30ish sec(there'll be plenty of videos showing you the scale and some of the workings if you're interested and don't already play it). Once this weapon is "linked' it can't be unlinked or said sun goes boom, so you as the guardian instead sabotage the cooling vents then overload the core and escape before being blown up; key thing to note is with the weapon core disabled the magnetic link is still active but the weapon is no-longer "functional".
The scale of this Almighty is 1 Deathstar high and 6ish Deathstars wide shaped like a double plane wing with a Deathstar in it's centre which houses the weapon core. Everything else on this massive space construct serves as material processing, storage and conveyance("simulated high speed gravity conveyance") with the incoming planet material splitting into 8ish seperate "gravity streams" across the entire length on both "wings". Be sure to give it a look as it might help with your size and explaination arguments.
Note: This game tech-wise belongs to the category that is known as "in an alternate universe"; for those who haven't heard of this phrase before, it's simply take the universe we know presently with our current understanding of all fields of technology(not just digital but also biology, material science etc...) and change whatever you want to make it fit what your trying to achieve story wise.
7:25 Hmm. Is there a Polandball equivalent for The Void?

Well the sun is exploding constantly over and over.
But if you mean like finally BOOM. Then I would assume we would all burn crispy 8 minutes after that.
Olgierd's haircut was quite popular in Poland and Ukraine around the seventeenth century. It was a hairstyle worn by Cossacks, which sometimes was adopted by Polish noblemen. Everything about this DLC was just drowned in Polish culture, including the storyline itself.
Of course he's not Gaunter O'Dimm. He has hair. Fantastically luscious hair.

Your knowledge of polish names indicates you are an evil mastermind!
And "wrong" is more like "źle", but you, Kyle are - super linguistic nerd. Aaaaaaaaaa!
Challenge for you - read out loud "ŻÓŁĆ" (it is a word, really).
Polish language IS evil, the Dark Speech of Mordor, an abomination of the Elder Gods from beyond the stars. No natural sound can have so few vowels and still be pronounceable by real living beings without extra mouths and throats screaming in the dark agony of eternal madness...
@Vicodyn OK then. "Konstantynopolitańczykiewiczówna" is a daughter of Mr Konstantynopolitańczykiewicz; eng. George Buzzercracker translates as Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz.
