Matthew. As a mother who raised a daughter with a very infrequently participating father, in my opinion the fact that you are heavily invested in Brooklyn's life is much more important than where you're living while you show her how much you love and care for her.

VanLifePLUS, Matthew, as a Father of 4 (now fully grown) children, there is absolutely no reason to explain yourself with regards to your little girl. You're a dad first and YT'er second, and that is absolutely the way it should be. You need to do what is best for you and your daughter above all else.
Your truly, loyal, subscriber-base will be here no matter what.

Matthew, your wee girlie is learning some valuable life lessons right now, from both you AND her mom.. SHE doesn't realize it, but she'll appreciate it all when she's older. You're doing right by her and no matter what you choose to do, it'll be exciting times for you both! You know what you're giving her right now?? These pieces of video history, that she will watch as she grows, and see JUST HOW VERY LOVED SHE IS.. every girl hopes to have such a loving attentive daddy. I will continue to enjoy VanlifePLUS..You're a good old Canadian boy, how could I NOT love this?!?!

Don't worry Matthew. We don't just watch you because of van life. I see you owning a bit of land someday. Maybe even building a tiny home. I can see your little one enjoying her own loft bedroom lol. Or maybe you want a big house. I'm not sure. What ever you do we will be along for the journey cheering you on. Onward and upward Matthew!

Your daughter is at the age that she wants to be connected 24/7. I grew up with my mom having a daycare & at around 3 the kids started doing the same thing. Don't worry, she will be fine. There might come a time where you want to do something different & that is totally normal. Do what you feel in your heart is best for you.

Having a "home base" is what it sounds like you're thinking of for the future and that sounds awesome!
As your daughter gets older, maybe you'll be able to travel some with her. Take her along to explore. This way you get a homebase as well as still being able to be remote.
    I totally get the desires.
You gotta do what's best for you.
Those who support you, will continue to do so as long as you're true to yourself.

This sounds "spot on" -- or something ĺike it -- home base makes sense.

Look, I had back surgery as will in 1997 there is a big difference between before and after.
The only thing I have is when the weather changes from winter to spring and fall to winter for 1 week each time I have problems walking the pain is so bad. But I broke my back and that was a difficult learning experience for me.
Your right only you know your body and what is best for you.
Now saying all of that, wife and I have been married 40yrs and at this point in our life our kids are grown and it's just us so what we are doing is we have a 29' camper and we are buying property and that is where we will be living. Rent and home payment free.

Part of the fun of the adventure is not knowing exactly where it’s going to lead you, and you can never say never because we just don’t know what the future holds. I know there’s a lot of us, myself included, that continue to follow your story because it is a story. It’s not just you and the van or the van life necessarily that holds us here, it’s the story you’re telling and the way that you tell it. So no matter what your future holds if you continue to post videos of it I’m sure you’ll be able to keep our interest. Brooklynn has the most amazing dad and mom. The life lessons will be so valuable to her when she is older. You are one of the most attentive fathers. There are lots of little kids that don’t have that connection with their dad like she does with you. It’s natural that you would want to think about the future of having a place of your own like a sticks and bricks home for you and her. No matter where or what you live in, the time you spend with your precious little girl is what is most important. ❤❤❤❤

Hello Matthew, those of us that are here watching, rewatching your vlogs. Are here for who you are as a man, a father & a dear friend. We all feel a connection to YOU no matter the distance 100s of miles, 1000s of miles or the other side of our earth. The one thing we do All share. As a Father, many could learn from you how to be just that. Your parents taught you well. We love you because of these things and in some cases in spite of them (some people maybe, not me) in a very minut way. You only have so many breaths, heartbeats and windows to view, feel, taste, touch & smell in this lifetime. Make them yours and those you love and care for. I personally promise you, I will be here until my time is no more. From an old gal and your friend, CNC

Surgery - You hit it on the nail Matthew. Everyone knows their own body and what they can/can't tolerate. I was hopeful and yet scared for you when we all had learned about your surgery but I chose to keep my own personal thoughts to the whole situation to myself because you didn't need that.
The Future - Anything is possible in anything you put your mind to. I'm one of those ones who will be here for the long haul as I enjoy you and your channel. I have seen other UA-camrs whom I also follow, who along the way have changed the scope of their channel. I haven't left them either. Sometimes deviating from the regular path can be good. But ultimately that will be your choice. I honestly don't think you would loose many of us.
Brooklyn - She is definitely Daddy's lil girl ;) But again, I'm so proud of how you keep her protected in your video's and still allow her to express her wee mind with us all. I think all that Brooklyn wants is her time with her Dad!
You will share with us what you are comfortable with and some stuff remains in the background, personal & protected. And that is perfectly fine!

So I watch your channel because of you Matthew and that will transfer to any setting you're living in. I'll still go from giggling to having a good belly laugh at some of your facial expressions, voices, double entendres and overall silliness. I really don't see how it would make any difference to my enjoyment in watching your daily life, and actually might be a change of pace. Your little girl will be happy wherever you are as long as she can spend time with you. She has the best of both worlds with you and her Mom. Co-parenting can be hard at times but in the end your daughter will have many experiences and adventures to help her with healthy intrinsic learning. I think you are a great dad and what I have watched you do and say and interact with your daughter has been wonderful. I don't necessarily think it will really matters to her whether you live in a van or you get a bigger motor home and you like the style of living that you have and want to move forward with, as long as there's a place for her, A little house is nice as well. And to tell you the truth don't worry about it. You are doing a fantastic job and when it's time to do something else, you'll know, And you want to do it for the right reasons. She's gonna have fun with you because she always does, There's quite a number of families 3 and 4 kids living in their motor homes and traveling the world and they love it. And the kids grow up loving it. So no worries, You're a great dad. You're doing a great job and as the decisions come to be made you will make the right ones for you and for your precious daughter.❤

We’re behind you 110% my friend and anyone who thinks of you as a friend gained, albeit, remotely and existentially we want nothing but the best for you. You mentioned “tiny home” many times and once during this video. Why NOT? Tiny houses are incredible and you can own one for a lot less. Anyway, you are not the only one who can “ramble on”. Love your content as I have since discovering your channel. Keep it simple, keep it real. You are loved Matthew! ❤

You could consider land and a small cabin or something and keep a van for weekends and trips ect. Save up and buy so you don't have rent. My husband and I are going to travel together as he is a trucker driver and save up to buy land. Then save again to but a home on it. That being said with grown kids we don't need anything really big so we want something small. Under 1000 sq feet in total likely in the 800 square foot range. Tiny but not to tiny. Gotta have a bedroom for my new grandbaby after all. Trying to stay as debt free as possible. There is many opportunities for you I'm sure whatever you decide in the future.

I can say doing full time RV life back when my daughter was 10, worked. After 2 years, I realized having a home (sticks and bricks) for her friends to come over to, have holidays at, etc. was important. So I moved out if the RV.
But after she turned 18 and moved out from me, I returned to full time RV life. And here I am.

Hey Matthew , there is one thing that is constant and this is change. Priorities change especially when you are a parent. I don’t have children but I’m a caregiver to my spouse who’s recovering from a stroke and been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It’s not a situation that either of us would have seen coming but it’s changed my perspective on life and change.
The most important thing to remember is that you are planning for you and your child. And your narrative will change she gets older. Great vlog as always keeping it real and I appreciate this ❤

Life would be incredibly boring without ever-changing dreams, goals, aspirations! And I would bet that a large majority of us aren't just here for the van life. I know that I like to tune in every day to see what my "good friend" Matthew is up to, as that's what you've become to so many of us. Your story-telling, incredible sense of humour, and positive, down-to-earth personality is what keeps most of us tuning in, no matter where you live or what you're doing. Please just keep being you and everything else will fall into place.

    Matthew,
I’m going into van life so I can save money to get myself out of my horrible HOA situation and get my own “home base” (and have a camper van). It’s what I have always wanted to do. Knowing a way to achieve it was something I had to learn.
Watching you with Brooklyn is so amazing. Another great video, always learning from you. Stay warm ~ Bev

I appreciate the stuff you have to say about back surgery. I haven't had it myself but I do have a condition that means it's always been a possibility for me. I was treated with an orthotic brace as a teenager and I'm grateful that my doctor was one that preferred to go to surgery only as a last option. Back then (a bit less than 30 years ago) the protocols for surgery and recovery were very, very different than what is normal today. One of the big reasons they wanted to avoid it if possible is that it was standard to be immobilised on bed rest for SIX WEEKS post-surgery. If you think about that having been a possibility then I think the progress you've made in just a bit longer than that looks pretty damn amazing! And I'm sure you know anyway but it's not meant to be a sprint, it's very much a marathon. Having the wisdom to slow down when you have to in order to not do yourself more damage is not always easy but you seem to be making a conscious effort to be aware of your limits and do just that, so that is worth giving yourself credit for too.
We like seeing the "van" aspects of your life, obviously, but that's not why we keep watching. You are the reason. You're funny, kind, silly and entertaining. Those are the parts that appeal and make us look forward to seeing that you've uploaded a new video, and those parts of you won't change if you live in a van or a traditional house or anything else! So, from me and my husband at least, any future changes you make won't affect our viewing of your channel. We do watch every day but don't comment because we usually watch on the TV and can't do it there.
