    Great videos . Appreciate people sharing their installations so we can all improve on our work. And also learn from each other.
    I understand some electronics are safe to connect without an earth leakage but its just good practice to have one incase another electrician connects other 'non essentials' items that do require it in the future. I have seen many installations where plugs are on the non earth leakage circuits and people don't realize the danger. Other than that, good install, love the use of a proper ac plug for the Gen. Shielded cable , nice solution too!

    Another thing if you using a single rail DB you have to partition the non essential from the essentials it's best to use a separate Db for the essential circuits

    Hi
    Thank you for the informative videos.
    Does the changeover switch stay on 2?
    When there’s load shedding to you have to do the flip the changeover switch?

    • @anthonymwambazi7390
      @anthonymwambazi7390  4 місяці тому

      Hi yes it's recommended to be on two if it's supplying part of the premises, if for the whole premises you do it vise versa

      Under batt charge enable singal island mode, then from the mainboard, the white middle connector strip there is a L & N, have that go to your contactor then from your contactor into the green inputs

    firstly your videos on installations are the best thanks for all the info you provide. secondly wouldn't it be better to have an earth leakage for both non-essential and essential loads? also i put a NC contactor bonding Neutral to earth for my installation as there was a floating neutral when eskom is down is this correct to do?

    • @anthonymwambazi7390
      @anthonymwambazi7390  Рік тому +1

      Hi I used to put a contactor before now I permanently bond the neutral to earth cable on the Ac protection box to simulate Eskom power supply TNCS and will sort out your floating neutral and your earth leakage breaker will have a reference as well

    Looking good! The only problem I see is the wire color you use is not allowed by law. However if you clearly mar the blue and yellow to red and black you should have no problem. Also don't forget your alternative power supply light. You know incase someone who does not know about inverters, works in the DB and does not get electrocuted. All and all looks clean well done

    • @anthonymwambazi7390

      Thank you for your advice much appreciated, on the other colors if you noticed I tape the end of the cable for the other electrician who might not know what's happening, perhaps on this video it was not done.

    Good evening Anthony, thanks for videos and sharing your knowledge and your experiences.
    Anthony i just want to know the spd is it only to protect the inverter and what you feeding from escom on the change over switch, cuase when you feed from the inverter it doesn't include spd. Hope understand what i am trying to say. Thanks again

    • @anthonymwambazi7390
      @anthonymwambazi7390  Рік тому +1

      The SPD is protecting the inverter from any surges or transients that might arise from the electricity Supply company heavy industry equipment switching on and off or flash density From resulting from lighting strike in the area

    From the Eskom breaker, the first 2 pole breaker, you go straight to non essentials? IE you bypass the earth leakage for non essentials? Or am I missing something

    • @anthonymwambazi7390
      @anthonymwambazi7390  Рік тому +1

      Hi yes correct I bypass the earth leakage provided that an earth leakage is not required on those items if Sans 10142 regulation allows if not there must be a separate earth leakage fitted to those items as well

      But have you ever thought of how to isolate the inverter from an installation for maintenance or repairs. look at the diagram in Sans 10142-1 ed1.8, page 357 diagram S3 explains how to wire an inverter to a premises

    I'm assuming the one on the wall is the male side under that cover.
    I'm going to be using a petrol Ryobi 7900k, which can push 28A.
    My Inverter is 11kw MAX E with 2 x AM2 batteries, soon to be 3.
    I want the generator for in case we have unexpected 6 hours of load shedding or the grid collapses to prevent the batteries running flat.

    Hi Anthony. There are conflicting arguments on whether to bond the neutral out of the inverter to earth permanently or through a contactor relay. Please can you explain the correct way of doing it as some electricians put the relay in and some bond…

    • @anthonymwambazi7390
      @anthonymwambazi7390  Рік тому

      Hi I used to bond with a relay nothing wrong it's just that the relay coil may after some time and you stand at a high risk of the earth leakage not activating , you end up having a floating neutral, elevated voltages between neutral and earth causing a further risk of electrocution when metal exposed parts become live. The inverter is a VOV machine, that was designed for the European market, you have to convert its power supply to local regulation requirements which TNCS that's why I permanently bond neutral to earth just Like generators same thing.

    Anyone to answer.. I have a leupower inverter and a elf bulb lithium battery.. When the installer installed he told me the communication cable doesn't matter and it is not necessary he did not put it on.. Everything is working but the inverter doesn't show battery % and on battery type it shows lead acid.. Can i change these options on the inverter without the communication..cabble will there be any problem?

      i think both input and output are on the changeover switch incase there is a failure you will have to do it manually. incase the inbeter fails

    just a couple of faults . incorrect CB installed in main DB that feeds the inverter DB should be of the same type as original cb's (cascading).
    Blue is not neutral that must be taped up with black tape
    Indicator lights with on protection must be installed to indicate what power source is present
    Socket for generator seems to be female ,that must be male.
    I would also use the same brand type CB for inverter return cb in main db this cb could also be an isolator type as the cb in inverter db already protects the cable and inverter

  • @KurtIsaacs-i6b

    You can't use a blue wire as a neutral according to sans rules and you can't cant have 2 pen earth's on 1 property and you not allowed to have 2 wires that is 4mm and thicker in a breaker.
