This end, Polly saying goodbye, made me legitmately cry and Dogder's voice acting as Polly decending further and further along the stops on the road was excellent.
That ending is fantastic, not just for the Monster Roadtrip game in and of itself, but as a metanarrative thought about fiction and fictional characters in general. And all this just because some players wanted to push the game to its limit. Well done, Monster Writing Team.
Jesse, Dodger, Octo, and all the people at Beautiful Glitch that contributed to this story, I just want to say thank you to all of you. You first went for existential horror, but then emerged on the other side of that with something very touching and emotional. I hope the "stairway up" is just as much of an experience as this ending was, and I look forward to having my heart broken again.
I never expected to cry clicking on this video, and now I can't stop. God that ending just handed me my ass on a plate and didn't wanna stop. Amazing, just amazing.
2:24:46 "When you're out there, carry me with you. That way, if this whole 'keep going' thing doesn't work, I'll still make it to other side somehow" Damn Jesse, this might have been the most meta ending I've seen in any game (and I like that it's not a "gotcha" kinda meta, but an actually thoughtful and meaningful one about the role fiction can have in our lives). Interestingly enough, there's a theory of consciousness that says conscious experience is (purely) informational, implying it can can copied, implying it can effectively survive outside of its original vessel. Of course, since any mental copy you make of a person is incomplete, that means they would only "partially survive" in/through you, but at least (according to that theory) it wouldn't be a complete death (which is line with what Polly said, but in a literal way, and not only metaphorically).
Excellent addition to the Monsters Prom lore and series. That song at the end was hauntingly beautiful. And Dodger was giving an award worthy performance as fan favorite Polly Geist. My goodness I was floored. This trio is so talented. I still want to see the Scary Games Squad play any of these games in a full playthrough. The Super Beard Bros as well. Maybe one day.
i did NOT see where the DLC would go and i am so hype for this- what an incredible move if the dev team! i love how they just go for things n live out their best ideas and lives :3
Truth be told, the ending was not as heavy as I was expecting (especially since the early vibes were really creepy), but at the same time I didn't expect it to literally turn into a heart-to-heart between creator & creation, talking about the nature of characters in a story. Very well freaking done, Beautiful Glitch. Jesse, you are rightfully proud of this team. (Also missing the End Of The Road content by being too successful in your first attempt - despite the save being literally set up to be nearly impossible to miss it - was hilarious in its own right)
It's been a wild ride, in more ways than one. I'm definitely impressed by the creativity of Beautiful Glitch to make a story like this, and I'm equally impressed by the passion you all brought when presenting that story to us all. Take care, and have a happy Summer!
I kinda figured something like that was coming, but wow... still hits like a ton of bricks, huh. Makes you question things: life, time, what it means to create... and to "grow up"...
Man... that really is an ending where after watching it you just sit there in silence for a few minutes, just to process it all. The team really knocked it out of the park, I never would have expected an ending like that from this series of games. Well done.
When we first met her she was a freaky party animal. The creators and audience turned her into something amazing. She is more than a girl chasing the next high. She is living a rich life that so few of us are brave enough to have. Since Miranda and Vera will be the central characters of the next game this is probably the last big Polly development. To the chess playing, Tolstoy reading, prank pulling, life of the party we say~ thank you for all the fun
Aionios Apelpisia: " And at the end, it all becomes *_[The White Room Of Waiting / The Waiting Room In White]_* - but it doesn't stop, the Cycle begins again, even if it is a new different one. Everything does pass through the Eventualities, in one way or another. "
I could definitely feel a point where Dodger voicing polly went from "roleplaying being uncomfortable" to "ok I am actually uncomfortable and having trouble staying in character."
I love how octo embraced "zed" (z). Him and Jesse have come a ways from that one time they both were goofing on dodger for using the pronouciation "zed." Clarkie must have swayed them :)
We could call this video, friends and tangents, and i'm so here for it! I laughed so much and just loved all your side stories. The dlc stuff i'm not sure was my jam but i adored the song at the end.
The act of creation is taking a little piece of who you are, a little fragment of your very soul, and sharing it with the world. Polly is a piece of the writer's soul, shared with all of us. That piece can and will live on outside the game, just as she set out to do.
Man, this is giving strong Doki Doki Literature Club. I love that. I never expected this game to take such a serious, dark turn like this. You can tell the people who created this game hold a special place in their hearts for the character of Polly, which I can’t blame them for. and I can’t imagine a better way to send her and the series as a whole off.
Wauw, i did not expect this kind of ending, well done and the song at the end took me totally by suprise. What i would't give for a complete voice acted version of these games, couse its so epic! and thank u as normal for this great video, always love it when u guys play any of these games.
Hooo amazing stuff you've done. All i can say will be spoilers so don't open this message if you didn't finish the video or the game That PROFOUND UNRESOLVABLE human sadness of everything coming to an end. Amazing way of realizing it through the "endless" ghost who is also a video game character, who basically ends but always starts anew. It's those Flowey from Undertale vibes but less "PLAY WITH ME, DON'T LEAVE" and more "Don't forget that life is moving on, this is also part of life, and it will also pass"
How many years of Monster Prom has it been? 5? 6? And it's all been building to this. We brought it all back around. Good work everybody who worked on this!
I just finished playing and I got this ending. Still crying. A beautiful story, it really means a lot to me. I started playing moster prom mid covid, when I was loney, and this game made me remember and get exited for living, being with my friends again. Polly was a part of that. I carry her with me.
I really love the conversation between Polly and the creator, it’s so real. I am an artist who has been working on my craft since I first remembered telling myself “draw within the lines”. There are moments when you make a character and they just exist beyond being on a piece of paper, like you are writing what they are doing, at the same time they are telling you and showing you what they are doing. A beautiful cycle that can create something that last forever, I’ve always thought I was crazy for thinking that, but seeing those scenes makes me happy to know that I am not alone in this. While Polly isn’t my favorite character (Oz x Zoe 4 ever) I have a deep appreciation for her and have definitely developed a core memory at 4 in the morning
Please don't stop this Jesse. I love these videos, the monster prom, the life is strange, hustle cat. All these visual novel like games. I love your videos and the crew you have make them.
21:13 "I got the question wrong with a note: 'we aren't animals, we're children of god' " That's absurd (it's hard to believe it's not just a prank). Humans (the _H._ _sapiens_ species) belong to the kingdom Animalia, which means we are animals (that just makes me wonder how that teacher would have defined the word "animal" if they were not using Linnaean taxonomy - also, they say god created animals, so why wouldn't they be considered "children of god" as well?).
as someone who went to the same type of school as dodger! the evangelical reasoning is actually supposed to be that humans have souls but animals don’t. also they don’t believe in evolution, they aren’t using linnaean taxonomy lmao. the way they defined animals was how I think you would, it’s literally just hat humans are exempt. unlike Dodger I did genuinely think that made sense somehow and even now seeing you say it’s hard to believe it’s not just a prank it’s like. yeah wow that would sound absurd to normal people huh
@@thatlycantomboy Interesting (thanks for the reply!). I know creationism and evolution are at odds with each other, but taxonomy (which is just about classification) doesn't necessarily makes statements about evolution. In particular, Linnaean taxonomy is based on similarities in obvious physical traits (for example, all animals are multicellular, eukaryotic, motile and heterotrophic organisms), so it's not something that contradicts creationism. If the difference between humans and (other) animals is that only humans have a soul, that begs the question: what is a soul and why only humans have it? Whether you define it as an "animating principle" or a "source of consciousness" (which by themselves are still vague definitions), it seems very hard to argue that only humans have it (that kind of human-centric view just seems to be based on arrogance, and I really can't see how it would make sense). I feel that kinda self-importance is what motivated things like geocentrism as well (since humans live on Earth, of course people would like it to be the "center of the universe").
What a haunting and sad ending. Less like a construction, and more of a channeling of something higher than mortality. To be Art, it must be constructed for the purposes of being art. The best Art however isn't constructed, and instead channeled. I don't think there is a way for a human to know what you channeled, truly.
the added horror of the game telling you all this will end if you just let the game end meanwhile, since they're in the streamer mode, the game CAN'T END now that they've pasted the victory deadline
I've gotten so used to seeing Jesse having only 980ish thousand subs that I'm always caught off guard when i see you've passed 1 million 😂 Happy for you Jesse 😁
They fucking pulled an UNO Reverse card on the trope of fictional characters realizing that they are fictional by making us realize that they ARE fictional and because of that they don't only exist inside their media, but also in their fans. Bravo.
Loved every minute of this whole playthrough… The Sanctum of Polly was the lore/meta breaker that made me just shut down for two minutes because of how mindblown I was… And that ending… My Lord, The Ending Had Me Nearly On The Verge Of Tears!!! 😢… As a send-off to this stage of the Monster Memories series, I gotta say… Godspeed, Polly Geist, love your life how you want to… And smile on 😊
Also how did Polly turn into Monika but without the killing/deleting of her friends? EDIT: Monre "Monika After Story" Monika, the whole thing about asking the player to carry her with them (like how in the After Story mod when you tell her you're leaving you can iirc offer to take her with you on a usb stick or sd card), than base-game Monika, but elements of both in some sense.
Every spooky season I watch y’all’s play throughs of Monster Prom games while I desperately try and fail to get my friends to play. As a console gamer, I would love to see these on PS or XBOX… my computer is super janky and I’d love to do this game justice by playing it on a better platform. It’s still fun as hell but my ancient bargain basement laptop *struggles* lol
This whole dlc feels like the movie Coherence, it follows a party as they watch a comet cross the sky and when they do a fog sets in and as they look at other houses its all the same house with different versions of each other in slightly different scenarios.
you’re so right! this dlc seemed to take a lot of neat inspo from other places (as the gang said, The Enigma of Amigara Fault and The Backrooms seem to be the most obvious) but I’d love to know if the Coherence vibes were purposeful or not
How the hell was this done? Do you need to make the specific pizza/couple/cave choice to get this? Or are there variations of this ending for like all of the different choices you can get?
My biology teacher would frequently ask or included the question on tests "Have you thanked a green plant today?" and luckily if you'd forgotten there were a few in his room because we would not be alive if it weren't for green plants.
Man can I just give a quick props to Dodger's voice acting.
She managed to make some of those lines feel so real it genuinly hurt a bit.
This end, Polly saying goodbye, made me legitmately cry and Dogder's voice acting as Polly decending further and further along the stops on the road was excellent.
Tears

Surely, this will be a fun and wholesome plotline for all to enjoy. Surely.
Wholesome episode filled with silly jokes for kids
Definitely family friendly, absolutely deserves a G rating (don't quote me on that)
Some good ol’ fashioned Polly time prank masterz shindigs and all that, am I right? Haha😅😅
Hi Nez nice to see you commenting on a video. Can't wait to also watch your playthough.
I love how into the spooky vibes Dodger got while voicing Polly.

Dodger's commitment to delivering polly's lines and embodying her character really elevated this whole experience
Man... that really is an ending where after watching it you just sit there in silence for a few minutes, just to process it all.
The team really knocked it out of the park, I never would have expected an ending like that from this series of games. Well done.
well now polly is my favorite character officially. she's seriously so great I love her
same. it was literally a toss up between Scott and Polly b/c I’m incredibly basic but look they sucked me in
To me Zoe is still my fav but this gives a of humanity to Polly and makes me love her more
When we first met her she was a freaky party animal. The creators and audience turned her into something amazing. She is more than a girl chasing the next high. Wow the dev team really fucked me up this time with that ending.
I love how octo embraced "zed" (z). Him and Jesse have come a ways from that one time they both were goofing on dodger for using the pronouciation "zed." Clarkie must have swayed them :)

It would have been SO COOL if the un-ghost thing had actually de-ghosted Polly, too!
i think the reason they didn't is because polly would have become a child again (if you know her TRUE backstory)
Man, Dodger's voice acting as Polly was amazing! There was a lot of emotion happening!
I think I'll comment with the most common quote found in this playthrough:
"..."
Wow! What a story ! And amazing end to this journey. Can't wait to find my own. Love you all including the devs ♥️
Man, this is giving strong Doki Doki Literature Club. I love that.

What i would't give for a complete voice acted version of these games, couse its so epic!

How. The fuck. Did a party ghost in a fucking raunchy comedy game have me in literal tears by the end...

I was disappointed we didn't get the poly-scot-taur, but it worked out in the end.
HELL YEAH! my favorite apocalypse trio!!
EDIT: HELL YEAH! my favorite existential crisis trio!! …yeah ok I love these characters, damn
How many years of Monster Prom has it been? 5? 6? And it's all been building to this. We brought it all back around. Good work everybody who worked on this!
I always love seeing these wonderful best friend goobers get together for some goofs and gags in games.

Not gonna lie I saw the song on beautiful glitch and decided to watch this for context it hurts good
I might have to re watch that ending a couple times. Maybe a couple dozen.
Everybody's fan-favorite!
Love this game series and love your playthroughs, my only complaint is that there is not enough of them, but I get you only want to tease.
Honestly, I love these characters. I wish they'd get the resources to do comics or cartoons with them. Games are good too, of course!
21:13 "I got the question wrong with a note: 'we aren't animals, we're children of god' " That's absurd (it's hard to believe it's not just a prank). All of the 3 are epic streamers, but when their power combines it's world class entertainment :D
I can't believe I cried at a Monster Roadtrip game...
Absolutely incredible. Polly is a... beautiful soul.
Mom, pick me up. I'm scared.

I know they didnt fully finish their playthrough of it but it was fun seeing it literally go DDLC especially for the Fan Favorite.
This whole dlc feels like the movie Coherence, it follows a party as they watch a comet cross the sky and when they do a fog sets in and as they look at other houses its all the same house with different versions of each other in slightly different scenarios.

Jesse, Doogs and Octo back again?!? Hell yeah! :D
Boy... things really get existential huh
What a fun light hearted crazy game, i'm sure i will laugh right until the en...
THE DLC JUST COMPLETELY SHATTERS THAT IF YOU GET DEEP ENOUGH…
Wait wait wait Jessie used to to live in Buffalo!!!!? Yay a fellow Buffalonian!!! Our deals are HUUUUUUGE-A
i was not prepared for this whole thing. holy shit.
I love when meta goes hard and shit becomes pataphysics
Great... now I'm gonna have nightmares about pizza deliveries.
jesus that ending is as sad as that one dark psychosocial scene in Night in the Woods
I got "Black Mirror" vibes when doing this ending
What?! New DLC?! But I just got the XXL version and Hitchhiker pack for the Switch yesterday! 😩😖
26:17 Are they genuine combat swords or wallhangers? if the first one- respect. if the second- still respect. Swords are cool
My heart wasn't ready for this.
dodgers biology teacher "humans arnt animals because we are all childrens of god" story is hilarious.
That was truly a beautiful ending
I NEED this song. What is it called??? I can't find it anywhere 😭 is it anywhere on Spotify?
Near the end of this getting serious "Inscryption" vibes
What we need now is someone to be a Polly VTuber, and someone posseses the Ghost's body, or bring her 'to life' in the 'real world'.
Omg, this would totally give me an excuse to use my Polly voice a crap ton!!!
The feels Jesse!!! Why did you do this to me!! I am having memories of the first game. T-T So much feels. DAMN YOU you diabolical genius.
Monster Roadtrip visits The Oldest House
How the hell was this done? Do you need to make the specific pizza/couple/cave choice to get this? Or are there variations of this ending for like all of the different choices you can get?
that song gave me goosebumps. so beautiful
19:50 octo is adorable ❤
Please tell me that song is on Spotify.
Very cool - well done!
Dudes.....Art fucking rocks.
This was really great.
What..... the actual fuck. I love it!!!
JESSIE!....you need to do the new update...it has a new hitch hiker!
Jesse had the choice between listing to Octo and creating a new version of the game where you can't die and choose the ladder, sorry Octo.
O my gods that was amazing....
Wonder if Scott can get his own end of the road.
Great ending made me cry for real.
I was not prepared
Amazing!
My favorite series...
the Monster Crew returns
Well that was a beautiful glitch
Crazy how this video dropped the same day the Switch port hit the eShop
so good
What in the Daniel Mullins is this
... MAKE A PROLOGUE WITH MONSTER BABIES AT A DAYCARE MAKING FRENS
... OR FULL RETIREMENT HOME
UNIRONICALLY IT COULD WORK
My biology teacher would frequently ask or included the question on tests "Have you thanked a green plant today?" and luckily if you'd forgotten there were a few in his room because we would not be alive if it weren't for green plants.
