This was a peak Squad game. Theories on the plot, mystery solving, reminiscing about school and retro technology, light mocking of Davis, the guys being emotionally invested and cheering the two characters on at the end, and the payoff with the drawer at the end? And all of it in a single just under 3-hour video perfect for binging in one go or packaging out over several breaks. Fantastic choice of game that really matches up with the Squad's vibe perfectly. This'll be a favourite of mine to rewatch for years to come I'm sure.
I'm 100% with Jesse here, the girls didn't even close the seance by saying goodbye to the spirit board. Then again, with the kind of day these girls went through, I'm willing to give them a pass 😆 Definitely curious if the crew will continue this series and play the Side B of this story.
I bet it's interesting as an actor of any kind getting to see the final work. Like as a voice actor it's got to be interesting knowing you read out these lines, but you never actually experienced the game. So you did the lines without really knowing what's entirely going on. Similarly with movies and such getting to see all the effects edited in later and such must be wild.
Just FYI, the original Phantom of the Opera novel by Gaston Leroux is in the public domain. Anybody can do things with this one. The adaptations (bar the 1925 movie), however, are not. The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical from '86 and its songs are still protected.
It's fairly simple to get permission so long as Broadway are touring the same show. They have the rights to pull any other productions running at the same time even small high school shows.
there were so many similarities from the book to the game. The weird shy girl named Christine and here it is Chrissi. The rival (which also is referring the movie Heathers.) And the fire or Arson. I was nearly facepalming before I remembered it isn't that known. I mean people hear the name Phantom of the Opera but not the story itself, and its fans tend to be female. They're just normal blokes XD
If you pause at 2:27:51 you can see the 4th camera turns on between the static, it's a shot of the prison cell and someone (Raoul probably) standing inside of it. Was dying for you guys to notice it! But it's so quick I can understand lol
Jesse briefly mentioned it. It confirmed for me that Raoul was, in fact, also the name of character in the show; so it stuck out to me when he said it. I believe it was when they were breaking down the game characters into their respective allegorical parts - Chrissy as Christine, teacher as Phantom, and Raoul as Raoul. And the SGS as the producers, LOL.
6:59 That totally looks like the radio from Silent Hill 3. It also talks about 'alternate world', it's gotta be a reference lol Edit: Oh yeah, just watched a bit more, totally a reference! Awesome!
Whether the Phantom has magic or not seems to vary depending on what version you're watching. The Andrew Lloyd Webber version has him as a normal man, I believe. He's just incredibly clever and able to use the secret passages and the people's own superstitions to convince them that he's something more. The live musical I watched once, though, had him canonically have magic power. As for what he did to Carlotta's voice, in the ALW version, he simply added something to her throat spray before she was to perform, so when she used it and then went out on stage immediately after, it mucked up her vocal cords temporarily.
So, in conclusion, this could have all been avoided if the school had gone with its original plan to stage "Stop the Planet of the Apes. I Want to Get Off!"
You guys missed in the lair, after you solved the pipe puzzle, the Zone 3 screen started showing flickers of a figure standing over the prison cell bed.
I know the game quite well from it's original release which I loved so naturally had to come back and watch the squad play it as well. Glad to see the devs getting a bit more recognition this time around as it really is a delightful little story.
It's amazing what a small team can do nowadays. Even solo developers can make something pretty amazing now. One of the best examples is Stardew Valley. It was literally one guy working on that game and it turned out to be a *massive* hit. Took him roughly 4 1/2 years to create and most of that was because he literally learned programming, art, design, etc all as he was making the game. There was mention of how he had to scrap everything a few times as he'd learn.
This was great. I'm a big Phantom of the Opera nerd, so it was cool listening to them try and remember the plot and characters. Didn't bat 1000, but got the general idea lol
Sadly enough in my area a couple weeks ago there two newly weds hours into getting married, on the way to their honeymoon, both killed by a drunk driver. Left behind a toddler
2:25:38 I'm sad they don't do "All around the world!" jokes anymore. But I suppose I am ancient and they probably forgot about a bit from almost 10 years ago.
This was SUCH an amazing and well done creation!!!! I never comment on videos but I HAD to with this one. I'm so glad with how this story turned out. I hope to see you guys do another video for Amy's story!!!
Phantom is the most insane story ever and i don't think many people talk about that aspect of it lol like, the story behind the phantom himself is WILD
I actually loved this one, I’m looking forward to the second half of the story. Any time I see a horror story with lesbians in it I get nervous because I think they’re going to be unalived like we always are so it’s great to see something that subverts expectations.
SGS keeps a steady pace during spooky month. You should Definitely check out Slay the Princess. There is a huge free update releasing in a day or two so the timing is perfect. Would love to hear you guys theory craft while you play that game where there is absolutely nothing special going on...
Oh Jesse. Theres a nice shorter spooky game you guys might like. Albino Lullaby. Its less jumpscary and more just Salad Fingers unsettling style. Its a decade old but the second episode of it just came out this month called Alice's Lullaby.
What an amazing game. I'm looking forward for the next part! I would play if I could, but I tend to close the game any time a scary part is building up.
Thank you for watching! If you want to support the wonderful team that made this game, please click the link in the description.
PLEASE play Amy's story!I'm begging! This was so good. TY for playing for us!
Loved this, Jesse! Please tell me you guys are gonna play through Amy's story!
You were right, Jesse. The Phantom is the Angel of Music.
this was downright amazing
Davis being so empathetic he got upset about a hypothetical couple getting killed by a hypothetical drunk driver is kind of sweet
Davis is a pure, kind soul
I knooow he has been my secret crush for years cause he is just... wholesome and great
@@MelitusMcPant Yea I can see it

I'm totally gonna start using "Oh, I'm so embarrassed, we should kiss"
Omg can i get a time stamp for this please

Loving the amount of SGS lately, thanks for posting so many this month!

I 100% give them the Pass because they were literally panicing haha
The voice of Vivian is a friend of mine. We are going to have a party at her place to watch her play through this for the first time.
She did a great job!
That's cool! I'm loving the character designs and the voice acting has been great!

@@Eventide215 feel like, they have to see some to do VA right?
cool and bet it be weird/funny to hear her own voice in it lol.

“Schools don’t get updated that much because our country is waning” LMAO. I want that clip of the video framed in my office

Coincidentally, and creepily, I have the video paused at your EXACT timestamp as I was reading this comment.
This spooky season is DELICIOUS. Gimme that spooky content SGS
Scary Game Squad and Phantom of the Opera?? ~these are a few of my favorite things!~ 😍
I see what you did there
We need to see in a game where a yellow duck saying "hello Davis.... are you looking for this crowbar? ".... Minds will be lost.
This introduction wasn't that different from Mike's "Hello my little Chilluminauts".
Thanks so much to the crew for playing!
Great game!!
I can't get over that no one seems to remember that Christine's love interest in Phantom is named Raoul.
I was thinking about this non stop
Jesse briefly mentioned it. It confirmed for me that Raoul was, in fact, also the name of character in the show; so it stuck out to me when he said it. I for one am totally here for all these Phantom of the Opera references..
31:00 yasss! pop off gold experience 💅✨🐞
Oh man that had the best possible ending we could have ever hoped for. MORE SGS?!
cant wait for the first episode of Family Game Friends, my favorite spinoff of SGS
So, in conclusion, this could have all been avoided if the school had gone with its original plan to stage "Stop the Planet of the Apes. I Want to Get Off!"
That was adorable. Super well written and the voice acting was so good! Good stuff, guys. I'm excited for Amy's story.
This game kicked ass, absolutely adored it. Hoping you'll post Amy's Story soon!
You guys missed in the lair, after you solved the pipe puzzle, the Zone 3 screen started showing flickers of a figure standing over the prison cell bed.
Thank you, was wondering what that was.
I
LOVED
EVERY
SECOND
OF
THIS
SGS.
it felt like a classic. Wow.
I know the game quite well from it's original release which I loved so naturally had to come back and watch the squad play it as well. Glad to see the devs getting a bit more recognition this time around as it really is a delightful little story.
Can’t believe Mathis wasn’t a part of that intro.😂
a bit of chilluminumamuminis leaking in
Hello my little scarynauts
This was such a good game. Really, really liked it. And the squad is always a joy!
Vivian is such a cute and lovable protagonist haha, I love her gigantic glasses
1:27:40 funny they're arguing logic about the building while turning screws to the right to take them out.
This was amazing game. Really liked how for final fight you have to use your puzzle solving tools you gathered through the game
I'm so happy the gang plays so many of these early 2000s/90's silent hill/RE-like games. It's so cozy
never forget that Tricia Tanaka was the reporter in Lost that was killed by a meteor. Possible relation to Amy? MAYBE!
19:11 masterful play. Ive never vibed so much with a descision ive seen made in a lets play lol
Davis saw the matrix code for a few seconds
It's always so incredible to see such amazing games created by such a small team.

The intro made me think I was listening to a chilluminati pod still 😅
ngl I would actually love a fun time trio playthrough of feel good games
It seems it was ignored when it was said, but I enjoyed the "Weber Grill" joke
The true crowbar was the screwdriver we met along the way. What a twist.
I really enjoyed the voice acting in this game. Really gave the kids character!
Sadly enough in my area a couple weeks ago there two newly weds hours into getting married, on the way to their honeymoon, both killed by a drunk driver. Left behind a toddler
That was a great little game! Loved how much fun the squad was having playing it! XD
This was so good, guys please also play the Fears to Fathom games! They have a very similar vibe, especially in style and vibe!
43:21 Bro had me in TEARS! 😂😂😂💀
2:25:38 I'm sad they don't do "All around the world!" jokes anymore. But I suppose I am ancient and they probably forgot about a bit from almost 10 years ago.
Nothing like sitting down eating some mac and cheese and watching SGS!
always thankful for a scary game squad vid
18:50 a right side up pentagram is a pentacle, symbol of wicca and witchcraft signifying the 5 elements: spirit, earth, air, fire, and water
a pentacle is a pentagram inside a circle. you can flip either one upside down to alter their meaning.
This was SUCH an amazing and well done creation!!!! I never comment on videos but I HAD to with this one. I'm so glad with how this story turned out. I hope to see you guys do another video for Amy's story!!!

I love how supportive of the girls the gang is at the end.
Awesome game! They really killed it with this :) Thrilling the whole way through.
"I am enjoying your reaction, tremendously" Well, ain't just you!

We’re getting Amy’s story soon right?!?
33:22 Alex makes everything funnier by simply repeating what is said
the after credits ending got me thinking that, the person who showed up, that their last name is Moore.
So down to watch y'all play Amy's Story next time around!
Love you guys. Hope you are all having a wonderful day.
I live for SGS, you guys are so good! Davis is the MVP!
Love coming home to SGS, work was brutal today!
This one went hard, what the heck. It was so good, what a solid game.
Whoa this was sponsored? (I somehow missed that XD until being reminded in the end) Great game and story.
Yoo, i just finished the Nute Gunraydio and here you are again :) What an exciting story!
Late to the party, but what a great playthrough. So excited I don't have to wait for the next chapter!
SGS keeps a steady pace during spooky month. You should Definitely check out Slay the Princess. There is a huge free update releasing in a day or two so the timing is perfect. Would love to hear you guys theory craft while you play that game where there is absolutely nothing special going on...
I hope you are going to play Mouthwashing I think you will love it
gotta love a big ass SGS thank cox and crew!
Bro... i gotta buy this game. What a masterpiece
Remember when Evan Williams used to visit SGS. They were good days.
Oh Jesse. Theres a nice shorter spooky game you guys might like. Albino Lullaby. Its less jumpscary and more just Salad Fingers unsettling style. Its a decade old but the second episode of it just came out this month called Alice's Lullaby.
The boys are on top of it today! I just saw this game on Nintendo's channel and then saw it was a Blum House game. My interest has been piqued.
SGS is my FAVORITE, keep em comin cuz I’m eatin these videos UP😩😩
Regarding Heather's accident, the play was Phantom of the Opera, to the secret admirer could have set up the accident
Making Davis play this feels like abuse. I love it
Please give us Cozy Game Squad 🥹
Are tunnels in the schools a common Buffalo thing you think? We had one in our school too lol we just called it The Tunnel.
dongs out for davis
This was so freaking cool. Props to Blumhouse.
I absolutely LOVED this!! ❤❤❤
I need a fake charity shirt now for Dongs Out For Davis
Gosh i would love to see Davis on a series of SBB playing like Mario Odyssey or something.
thanks guys ❤️
Thank you, Mister cox for another upload!
This is straight up The Phantom of the Opera. It's obvious now how the fire will start. They even set it up earlier.
guess im going to sleep in 3 hours then.
Silent Hill 2? I need me some more SGS, my FAVORITE youtube series.
What an amazing game. I'm looking forward for the next part! I would play if I could, but I tend to close the game any time a scary part is building up.
So well written
1:42:02 Oboe solidarity, Jesse!
Mmmmmmm, that goood Scary Game Squad drop in this sexy scary month. Papa Jesse is spoiling us. ❤
We better see mouthwashing with the scary game squad!!!!!!!
The phantom of the opera was written in 1910. Think they had the rights. Plus schools rarely get sued for doing Broadway plays.
I graduated in 2010 (albeit not in the US), those are exactly the types of computers we had
Perfect SGS game
I always adore content from The Creepy Play Corp.
