I just heard one of these live in a very small venue last week. I'd never even seen this model before then. Beautiful resonant tone. Like a cello or double bass. The owner said it is not as suitable as his Fender Precision for rock music but for anything else he does, it's his go-to instrument. Quite economical too.
Good vid. Gave me a real good example of what the bass sounds like with mucking it up with overplaying. I like the sound of the bridge PU the best with tone around 50%.
I have one of these for about two or three years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. The neck is small, reminds me of Gibson LP's neck. It's a very light and comfortable instrument. The pickups sounds as beatiful as this video demonstrates. My favorite one is the bridge with 0% tone. Sounds like a fat and big Pastorious sound. It's a very sweet and delicate instrument. I would not recomend it for heavy rock. I play this in classic rock, rockabilly, jazz, bossa and so. But I think it sounds too dark for punk, grunge, metal etc. Also you have to mess with your amp a little bit to find the better tone. I tried using the same configuration I use for a PB but it still sounds strange. I like to cut all the trebles, bass at 40% and mids at 60%.
Okay..I realize this is a two year old post, but I’m having a lot of trouble with the action on mine. Can’t seam to sweet spot the bridge height / truss rod. Get a lot of buzz or very high action..nothing in between. Any pointers or tips?
Perfect bass presentation!
No yapping
Goes through all 9 general settings for a good idea of tone varieties.
Bravo!

JUST GOT MINE SUNDAY! AWESOME SOUND!
Bridge or neck alone kind of distorts but both together sound great.
I like how you did not slap the bass.
you don"t slap this kind of basses.they sound terrible
@@badspy100uuuuuhm no, sound good exactly like other basses
Sweet.... wow
I'm looking at getting the AFB200A-TCL some time, and damn thats some heavy bass from the neck pickup
Nice review. Thanks
Just one used in 2020. Any recommendations on a good fitting and protective gig bag? Thanks!
Any idea if this bass weighs less than a Fender P ? I need a lighter Bass with my back problems.
It does, but the head stock has most of the weight
Is that the blues brothers riff?
Late response but that sounds like Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch
My tone knob does practically nothing.
Loose connection. Very easy fix
