Wonderful! As a newly postmenopausal woman whose father is a type 2 diabetic, I've been wanting to monitor my own glucose levels. This will be very helpful.
As a hypoglycemic, although I'm not diabetic, I agree! Everyone knowing their own levels and what alters it and how, should be something done. Not enough people have a well-rounded understanding of what is normal and how we disrupt it. You always give great MD advice.
Agreed esp for symptomatic or reactive hypoglycemia. More then just ‘hangry.’ Look it up as many who have it don’t know. It req a real time blood tests to be done with glucose tolerance test. Lots of info online.
@@jmc8076 Awesome response and thanks for pointing out the two types! Yeah, my hangry is at a whole other level, so I try to eat things every 3-4 hours if I'm active (which I almost never stop moving, so always snacking/eating lol). I have changed my diet a few times and cut out most bad sugar, but need to quit one last issue (the hardest one yet, soda). Have a wonderful day.
That's great news! I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic several months ago and have changed my diet - no more simple sugars or "white carbs" and I eat protein/fat first at every meal, combined with some IF (12-16 hours). Will have A1C retested in November, hope to see a nice change. If not, the continuous glucose monitor will be the next step. Good to see it will be affordable. Thank you for this video!
Thank you, Dr. Been; through your link I ordered my Dexcom Stelo CGM, as I have pre diabetes. I have been using this as biofeedback for my eating choices, as well as incorporating intermittent fasting. I cannot communicate enough how helpful this has been. It has been a game changer for me personally! Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention!
I was just diagnosed with diabetes 2 in the last week. I believe a bout with Covid followed by 6 months + of Long Covid caused this. I was not even pre-diabetic prior to Covid. The immobility during LC also caused bi-lateral pulmonary embolae. So, my life has been turned upside down. This monitor will really help me in better understanding what foods or combos of foods cause or suppress spikes. Thank you for this important video!
As a type I diabetic for 17 years I can tell you to avoid simple carbohydrates (high glycemic index) like bread, cereal, bagels, pasta, potatos, etc. If you do eat these things eat them in small portions and combine them with some sort of protein or complex (low glycemic index) carbs. Throw away all sugar filled drinks immediately. The good news is that if you eat like everyone should regardless of whether or not they are prediabetic/diabetic you'll be ok. A good workout a few times a week helps also.
Thank you - I watched this, ordered one straightaway, and have been using it for two days now. How wonderful to have this insight into how my body is processing food! Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!
This is great news Dr Mobeen!! It is so great to be able to track what affects us, which foods make us spike more, since we are all so different. This will make us more in tune with our bodies. This is fantastic as a tool to help lower insulin resistance which is the primary cause of metabolic derangements, hypertension etc.

The Knowledge of low carb nutrition completely changed my perspective about the food. The food should be our Nutrition and not our "entertainment".
I've been doing this, as well as checking cholesterol, lactate and triglycerides, since 2018 with the Acutrend machine. Since I'm a Beer drinker, I was particularly curious about the speed at which beer carbohydrate reaches the bloodstream having such a high glycemic index (110) The answer was surprisingly as low as 15 to 20 minutes 😧
Thank you this is necessary information for us who are confused by our doctor’s lack of either knowledge or didactic capacity with their patients and the disease.
My Stelo was still reading 15 to 20 points high after two days. On another channel person that wears a Dexcom G7 said that they get the best readings by placing it on the thigh. So I took off the sensor on my arm and placed the second one on my thigh. Have to see how that works. I contacted Stelo and said I had a defected sensor. So hopefully, they replace the first sensor.
Good to know! Due a health issue wound up with a BMI of 14+, and coming back from that is a process. Digestive hormones & enzymes (insulin et al) don't come back evenly, and have some bp and blood sugar swings. This will be helpful.
If you cannot afford it or if it is not available in your area, just get the very cheap pin prick one to monitor your glucose blood levels after meals. Just using it for one month will give you enough information to enable you to eat healthy meals.
I have used the Stelo for a week while journaling all my food and the time of day. It is great feedback 24 hours a day. I was interested to know the glucose level overnight. I’ll wait a couple weeks before using it for another 2 weeks. Better that guessing or doing repeated finger pricks.
100% The minute the FDA gets involved is when the price skyrockets! $99 sounds inexpensive but buying it twice a month is $200. My son makes hospital grade medical blood monitoring machines and the FDA makes the engineers life miserable
Both the EU and the USA have their ups and downs. Don't sit there gloating. I'm on high dose melatonin which I can buy myself here in the good old USA. Most of the EU doesn't allow it. I'm also taking what might be considered high dosage lithium orotate. Not allowed in most of the EU and needs a doctor's prescription. The EU doesn't allow many things that the United States does in terms of supplements. And sometimes it's the other way around.
Shipping Notice: Shipping is only available within the United States. Please note that we do not ship to P.O. Box addresses or U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. My father was a test and measurement expert in electronics, but has his head in the sand concerning his vegan diet. This will be interesting to see if he embraces this new avenue of data.

For info about managing and improving your "glucose curve", I recommend the book "Glucose Revolution: The Life-Changing Power of Balancing Your Blood Sugar". A continuous glucose monitor is what its author used to learn so much about her own body and others', compile data, and draw conclusions that could be very useful to all!
@augurcybernaut4785 Exactly! Same thing with the KARDIA heart rate monitor. The one you put your two fingers of both hands on. They want your measurements to go to "heart Drs." No Thanks
There's two ways to learn: the hard way on your own or from others (education). There are hundreds of UA-cam videos of people sharing their cgm experiences; save your money? Unless you're a hard case and don't learn from others?
People are different. Everybody will process things a little differently. This is very good to personalize. Because my neighbor has a video out showing his experience doesn't mean that will be the same for me. Nor do I eat exactly the same. Nor do I have the same activity levels.
A technical solution for a not existing problem. Cook yourself, and eat rather low carb...just eat like in 1950 and move your body and EVERYONE will be Ok
My body is my own glucose monitor though I do use the true metrix meter a couple times a week. The morning after eating rice or pasta I am noticeably stiff for hours and now I know why the Queen only ate that pleb filler food on special occasions.
Given the reluctance by the FDA to make continuous glucose monitors available to the public, I wonder why now they aprove one. It would be nice if some credible, not corrupted, 3rd party would check that this aproved device is accurate, and not some nicely crafted device to deceive the public.
Ideally any safe effective new health care tech is made avail to all who need it regardless of income. Using same tech for cortisol in Addison’s disease would be amazing like the insulin pump.
