Many elements of this game have been reproduced in MGS, like the elevator's ambush, the stairs chase, the Hind D fight, the warning of Gray Fox on Snake about the minefield and the meet between Snake and Natasha on the ladies bathroom, which is the same as the one with Meryl.

Yeah, there's a very intentional theme of repetition in this series. MG2 takes a lot of elements from MG, MGS takes elements from MG2, MGS2 is in-universe trying to recreate elements from MGS and so on
From snake eater forward these patterns become more complex. MGS3 has more in common with MG2 than MGS2 but there's a bit of every prior game within it
Initially, MGS1 was supposed to be a remake of MG2

16:29 the big boss snake was fighting in metal gear 1 was venom snake aka the medic after an explosion in the 70s he was recovering in the hospital and was being told he is big boss he believed it I think at some point he discovers his true origin but I forgot he was possing as a body double for big boss im pretty sure venom snake is dead
Yes the "Big Boss" that Solid Snake Killed in MG1 was indeed Venom Snake, hence the reason why Solid Snake was so taken aback when He found out that Jack/The Real Big Boss had "Survived" in Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake

Besides some names being wrong (which is more to blame what their names were in the MSX2 version and not the rereleases) and certain items (which is due to the MSX2 version again), this is a really good video.

Yo I remember playing this!!! I remember not trying to use much internet while playing in order not to ruin my experience but damn... OK maybe the tap code thing was a little hard but the damn glider part freaked me out! How the hell was I supposed to know that Snake needs to smoke to fly so he wouldn't feel stressed or something idk. Also there was a part when an insect or a bird was in your inventory and it was eating your items as far as i remember lol. But it's a great game overall!

@bradencoffey5029 Venom was killed by Solid in Metal Gear 1. This was the real big boss aka Jack/naked snake that fought solid here in metal gear 2.
They should remake Metal Gear 1 and 2 in the vein of Ground Zeroes, then remake Metal Gear Solid 1 and put them all in one package.
Konami threw away the source code for MGS1, common practice for them back in the ps1-2 era of games. They also threw away the Silent hill games, which is why the silent hill HD collection was so poorly "remastered"

Isn't Snake a CQC expert? Why use the missiles? It was the 90s. Kojima wanted to remake the original two games to help tie everything in with the retcons but we all know how that happened.

Playing MGS1 as a kid always felt…off. I only found out about the original Metal Gear games when I was 20. It’s a bit crazy how well MGS still works despite the fact that most of the emotional moments and indeed plot are incomprehensible if you haven’t played an obscure NES game from a decade prior.
In hindsight, we can appreciate the balls on Kojima to simultaneously remake that game no one outside of Japan played while also designing that remake to be a direct sequel for the game it’s basically a remake of…and then he did it again with MGS3.

If he has an xbox one, in the hd collection of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 you can play the OG Metal Gears and they're in english
