    I have an MFC J-425W -- my problematic cartridge was the magenta. I simply took an old cartridge that was near empty, filled it through the dispensing hole with an approximate 8/2 solution of windex and alcohol, and ran it through 2 cleaning cycles. Now works perfectly. Thank you for the excellent tip!

    This worked really well on my Brother MFC-J6920DW Ink Jet printer. I ordered the blank cartridges and syringe. I filled the empty cartridges with Windex and alcohol solution as directed, ran it through on clean cycle 5 times and printing is now back to normal. Saved me time, money and worry. There are other ways to clean your ink head but I think this is the least complicated, cleanest (no mess at all) and best of all, it just works like a charm. Much appreciation for this video.

    Similar issue as described. Black ink had stopped working. Numerous cleaning cycles had no effect. Syringed the cleaning mix into an old black cartridge and it worked a treat! Thanks very much!
    The process was a little messy as the old black cartridge still contained a small amount of ink residue. So adding the cleaning solution to the cartridge can be messy, so paper towels and protected area to catch any wayward ink/cleaning solution is recommended!
    Print quality after the clean is like new!

    I had to do this 6 times and was about to give up, but it finally turned out a clean print. I've had this J870DW for almost 9 years now. I bought it mainly because it prints on CDs (you have to buy the right kind, with a printable face, but they're really cheap these days). When I was looking at what it would cost to replace this printer, the cheapest printer/scanner I could find that also does CDs and DVDs is an Epson that goes for like $700! No way I could afford that right now. Plus Epson inkjets are murder when it comes to ink use. Buying ink for an Epson printer will bankrupt you! I am so glad I came across this video. I may just get another 9 years out of this machine! 👍

    I have a newer Brother MFC J6945DW printer. Great video, my printer is working fine now. Your video gave me the fundamentals of what needed to get done to accomplish the cleaning. I had replaced all the cartridges with Brother cartridges. Black and Magenta were the bad actors so I took those two cartridges, drilled/punched a hole in the top (away from the metal chip on the top) of the empty cartridge and empty the 8/2 solution of Windex and rubbing alcohol. I ran the cycle twice and the sample print for each nozzle showed normal. Nicely done and again thanks. Will update if I need to do more.

    Thanks for making this video, it worked for me, I didn’t have a syringe handy or at least a needle for it, so I drilled a hole in the top side of the old ink cartridge, used a dropper to drop in a mixture of Windex and alcohol, and it came out great after running the cleaning cycle about three times.

    Thank you! Black print head was completely blocked. Not a single dot of ink after several cleaning cycles. Took an old cartridge, drilled a hole and filled it with the home made cleaning solution and after about 4 cycles it's back to factory quality. Excellent. Really thought I was looking at having to replace the printer.

    You can forego buying an empty refillable cartridge by injecting solution directly into an old empty ink cartridge, providing you have one handy. Thanks to OP for the video! I'm back in business for $0. Brother's solution would have been for me to buy a new printer!

      How? They always have some ink--sometimes a lot of ink--in them. And do you have to drill a hole in the top? Or is there a hole and filling vent? Do you use a syringe to get the cleaner into the partially empty cartridge? Should all of the ink be removed by flushing numerous times first? Thanks.

    DIY - How to clean a print head a better solution another similar solution.
    1. unplug the printer. 2. inserted the refillable cartridge with DIY cleaning solution. 3 power it up the printer. 4. Printer starts cleaning the head when power up. after finished, the printer will compliant the cleaning cartridge is not compatible with the system. 6 unplug the printer and replace the ink cartridge and eject the DIY cleaning solution cartridge next and do a test print. My printer heading unable to print the magenta and Yellow color for months, now it is working beautifully.
    Thanks Gforce1956 to have this smart idea of cleaning solution in the cartridge and thanks Rob's home life for DYI print head cleaning solution.

      It isn't necessary to completely clean out a near empty cartridge. The solution does its job well even with some residual ink lift in the cartridge. It is also unnecessary to drill a hole -- just input the solution through the exit hole of the cartridge.

    Dayum. This snit actually worked for my Brother MFC-J825DW. My magenta was not showing up and all my color prints were printing as green. I used a dropper not a syringe in a used cartridge. Shoved it in to the end where the ink comes out in the back of the cartridge. Used 2 Tbsp of rubbing and 8 Tbsp of glass cleaner will leak a bit so be careful. Cancelled the cleaning kit I had ordered just in time.

    Just a quick follow up. I found I had to go through the cleaning process several times. It would work fine after a cleaning cycle but the next day I had to repeat it. This went on for several days but now I have not had to run the cleaning cartridge for several months. I do power off the printer when not using it because the cleaning cycle runs off a timer .

    • @arlistyner
      @arlistyner 2 роки тому +2

      All inkjet printers have regular cleaning cycles to keep the print heads from clogging. I chose Brother because I was reading printer reviews at the time and read a review of Brother printers that said their regular cleaning cycle was much more sparing of ink than other popular brands at the time. My previous printer was an Epson, and it really sucked down the ink. A cartridge goes a lot further in this printer. You should keep the printer on and let it do its regular cleaning cycles.

    Dear Master.
    Help.
    I did the head cleaning as you showed, it worked. Black has started.
    Works. After two days, I want to print something, code 48 is shown. There is no jam, but the head is on the right side and I do not want to move from the machine or manually for China.
    When I pushed with a syringe, I didn't know that the head should go out and I think I flooded everything under the plastic. I can't remove the plastics from above, something is holding it on the left side. I managed to do a cleaning reset, but the printer now turns on for a moment after connecting to the power supply and goes off.
    Do something Master.

      Hey I just got out one of my cartridges and there is a flag on a float the blocks the optical sensor. So the liquid color does not mater. Maybe your model has more sophisticated firmware. Mine asks me if I replaced the cartridge each time you remove one. They sell LC30XX chip reset devices so you may have to spring for one of these or see if you can remove the chip from a new cartridge and put it on your cleaner.

I forced cleaning solution into my cartridge with a hair dye bottle lol. this guy explains how to refill your cartridges with ink (or in this case cleaning solution) /watch?v=So6WgwKk30A. If your printer refuses to run the cleanings, some videos show people putting electrical tape over the cartridge ink windows to trick the printer into thinking they're full of ink /watch?v=So6WgwKk30A. I have a question. I have a Brother MFC-J5520DW and I tried cleaning the nozzles by plugging a tube with a syringe onto the intake port, except I used warm water. My Cyan was the one that was the most clogged and when I pressed the syringe not much was happening, only a tiny bit of Cyan was coming out onto the paper towel, then all of the sudden all the water from the syringe started squirting out of the Yellow intake port while it was plugged into the Cyan port. I played with it a little bit then water started coming out of the Magenta and Black ports... Is that normal, or did I brake something by giving it more pressure?

      @mrdavidmitchell 4 роки тому

      On many brother printers, there is an optical sensor that "sees" the cartridge level is low. Sounds like something failed on yours. Some folks have tipped their printer to get a few more pages out when they don't yet have a replacement cartridge. By tipping it they change the level near the sensor. There are other youtube videos which show how.

    Still hasn't worked for me, did this about 10 times. Brother printers are trash!

      I've put 10s of thousands of pages through my cheap brother laser printer that is 6 years old, and probably close to 20,000 pages through my 5 year old cheap brother inkjet printer that I have at work. And I use generic ink and toner. Inkjets need ink to get run through them regularly or they dry out and clog...it isn't really a manufacturer problem. My work brother inkjet is fine, but the home one is clogged form not being used. I think HP might have printer heads on each cartridge, but then generics weren't really available.
