Hello. After dozens of times trying, it worked. BUT. Your guide is misleading. In the newer version, in the created general interface settings, there are both Public and Private keys required. In your video and tutorial (4:32) there is only a Private Key. The problem is that your PERSONAL keys (2:42) are fully different from what you see in the downloaded config WireGuard file (4:37). In GENERAL settings you should put your OWN keys to authenticate you as a SurfShark user, but in PEERS you should place keys from the config file. Without doing that nothing worked. I've no idea why you didn't mention that and I spent an hour with my WIFI and LAN completely broken with no access to the internet solving this. Plus, you didn't say a thing about how to turn the VPN off and how to switch between locations. Maybe that's a chance to create another video on that subject where you provide additional information.
@@SurfsharkAcademy Thank you! Also, for some reason, Surfshark says that my connection is protected and there is no DNS leakage, but in fact my substituted IP address correlates with the selected and current location while browsers and apps think I'm located in the Netherlands (but I have an IP from another country). This results in blocked content for my country and I constantly see Holland ads and the whole internet experience is optimized for the Netherlands. How come?
I hope in detailed guides on which are the models of modems and routers and modems-routers compatible and best performing on which to install open-wrt and on how to install it, so as to really give us a great help, it would be wonderful!! I can't wait for you to add the dedicated IP address for each European country (with dedicated and unshared stacks), with their own manual configuration of wireguard I love you and thanks for the manual configuration of wireguard which I have been waiting for too, too long!
I recently updated the firmware on my Asus RT-AX86U, and it totally changed the UI. Right now I am stumbling around, trying to find tutorial(s) on how to setup surfshark on the new Asus router firmware. So far I've found NOTHING that applies to Asus's new firmware/UI. Hope to see Surfshark provide that information SOON!
Will this setup work for a Multi Wan (2 or more ISPs for WAN) configuration? A network topology diagram showing the hierarchy of the LAN (br0), WG (wg0), and the WAN zones would be helpful.
@@yueliu8791 Yes, with the last firmware 3.215 you can set by glinet interface, go wirguard client >add new,>configuration and then copy and paste the downloaded configurationn file (not drop it inside but copy the text). It'e very easy and it works at all.
There is no such package now. What I find is luci-proto-wireguard. Now there are also wg-installer-client and wg-installer-server. Maybe what is needed is the wg-installer-client?
The downside to this is, as opposed to using the vpn on the clients , instead of on the router, is that every time you want to enable/disable it, you have to reboot the router, not super convenient. But works. EDIT: You can actually restart only the wg interface when enabling, and all the interfaces when disabling, so no need to restart the entire router. Works.

Because if i disable the interface the internet goes down but not the network. please advise on this...
What about Suncomm VPN routers with Wireguard installed. I would like to know set up on this with VPN provider that allow Wireguard protocol accesses. Thanks. 😊
I have followed this video and it appears to be working, it is on the updated firmware but I seem to have the keys ok - but can I ask - this is for all IP's on my network, how can I specify 1 or 2 IP's only to route via the VPN and all other traffic to be 'normal' - I guess it is somewhere in 'Allowed IP's'?
Have you got tutorial videos for installing openvpn on openwrt routers? Stuck in transferring the server file to the router using pscp or winscp. Please help..Thanks
I followed every step and it worked fine until I turned off my router for the day, putting it on the next day, it wouldn't work, I noticed that packets are been send but not being received (RX: 0 B (0PKTS)). I started the vpn set up all over again and it worked but I hit the same problem each time I turn off and turn on my router. how can I fix this?

Can you post a video on the process for AsusWRT routers with stock firmware such as the XT8 mesh system? I would like to use the Asus VPN Fusion functionality to run my cameras, a Roku and a security alarm system through a Wireguard tunnel. Thanks.
Thanks for considering posting a video on installing Wireguard on an AsusWRT router. I followed the VPN Fusion instructions on the Asus website in conjunction with this very informative video ua-cam.com/video/udsZNGK9Mt4/v-deo.html and found out uploading the Surfshark Wireguard configuration file populates all of the information needed to activate the Wireguard protocol on a router such as the XT8 mesh system. I assumed I would have to enter the Allowed IPs, Endpoint Address, Endpoint Port, etc. but that was not the case. No information has to be entered after you login to your router and upload the configuration file for the location of your choice. The only issue I am having now is that the download speeds on my Windows 10 desktop (with the Surfshark VPN on) have dropped from around 750 Mbps to 250 Mbps. I am using the Surfshark app for Windows and several other devices and Wireguard on the Asus XT8 for my IoT devices. I am guessing the VPN on the router is negatively impacting the performance of the rest of the system (phones, tablets, firesticks, etc.) and there is no fix for that.
Won't supporting an Esp32 be more efficient? I think that would be very simple to build a device that interrupts the rj45 cable and applies the VPN before any router. Any configuration could be done using the internal Bluetooth of the Esp32 through a simple smartphone. With that, any VPN configuration current present in the app could be used on the proposed device.
The tutorial is great, BUT, since OpenWRT upgraded its version, some parts have varied and I'm unable to complete the instalation of the shurfshark Wireless on the router (raspberry Pi 4 in my case). It could be great if you could PLEASE update it.
