I love this student! He listened carefully, watched everything he could, asked questions when he didn't understand something (instead of just hoping he could do it later), and executed a beautiful pattern. Lewis, keep flying with Mike! He's going to be an excellent pilot.
“I don’t think I’ve got this, it’s really bumpy.” “Gonna need your help on this” I still remember both of these things to my instructor when i was starting my private pilot training. You do such a great job of keeping him calm by not only what you say to him and the complements you give him but also by the confidence that you have. Confidence is contagious especially when your new to flying and both of your lives are on the line. During my training I always felt like after takeoff it seemed to be a video game until I was coming in to land, that’s when **** got real. You’re great at your craft sir, I really wish I was able to have you as an instructor instead of someone who I couldn’t even crack a joke with nor say a cuss word. By the way I’m a new supporter, been subscribed for a while though, and I look forward to seeing more of your content!
Thanks for joining the Legion! And thank you for the kind words in this comment. There’s too many people in aviation with sticks up their backsides because they think you have to be fearful of your instructor or as you say, can’t crack a smile or use any bad language. That’s not the way I operate. Flying is always fun and learning to fly should be no different. Thanks man!
8:00 - This student has definitely mastered a good amount of ground school, which is awesome. Welcome to the sky! Looked like the wind was squirrelly!!
As someone living in Hong Kong I don't have the opportunity to learn to fly General Aviation, so aside from flying sims your videos have done a wonderful job of quenching my thirst for aviation!
"Welcome to the ground"! haha! I'm sure he was happy to hear that after his landing, albeit a very good one! Amazing instruction mate, your calm and reassuring demeanour makes his learning environment sooo much more productive! Keep it up, you're an amazing CFI!
Really fantastic instructional technique, praising in the correct places to build confidence and critiquing in the areas that need work in an encouraging way. Certainly earned a subscription, look forward to more! :)
Great work there by both as far as I can see. Awesome work from the student and fantastic instruction. I started my PPL in January and managed all the theory and completed all my exams two days before lockdown happened. Unfortunately due to bad weather in the UK and aircraft location issues I didn’t manage any flying at all....yet. I have really enjoyed watching your videos in the mean time, and hopefully by the end of July I can get stuck into the flying again. Best thing being no exams to worry about.
I remember having the same headspace as that guy. That's why CFI's get paid the big bucks... To calmly keep repeating add more power as they descend into a lake on final. People don't believe me when I tell them all the mistakes my CFi allowed me to make. It's the best way.
@@flyingaxeman7343 Absolutely right man. Mistakes are the absolute best way to learn and an instructor must allow them to happen while keeping things under control.
NICE...reminds me of my "1st" time but I was doing it at Teterboro. That's the equivalence of JFK for a rookie plus I was in the dreaded 152. Let's say, I was happy to have transitioned to an uncontrolled field and into a Warrior.
I'm hoping to solo this week! I've watched more videos on landings and pattern work than I can count. My problem has been how much to pull back the yoke when landing. My instructor calls it that "last inch". I like your videos-would love to have you as an instructor too (love mine also). Pray that I get that "last inch" this week 😉
I never really learned to fly by the numbers. I always just flew by feel when it came to rpms and speeds. I had to start paying attention more when I began IFR training, but when I'm just flying VFR, I don't pay much attention to those things. I have been told by pilots and CFIs that I am a really good stick and rudder pilot. I fly with other pilots and I find that, far too often, they simply fly using rote mechanics. For instance, on a normal takeoff, after I push the throttle full forward, I don't look at the airspeed indicator until I'm flying. Same when I cross the numbers on landing. I just feel it.
a few days ago, i watched one of your videos in the lunch break. when you set flaps in the video, my workmate looked and ask me "why he pull the handbrake in the air?" .... so funny moment :D
Heads up, I'm not getting notifications anymore. I only saw the video because it showed up in my suggestions. I have the notification bell highlighted to receive all notifications.
@@LewDixAviation I've never had a problem until now. At least UA-cam still knows which videos to suggest. Except that weird random time lapse one of ants eating a banana. No idea where that came from.

Nice work Mike! Especially with that difficult instructor😂
😂😂
I know, what a d*ck!
LewDix Aviation as we like to call it in aviation, a delta India Charlie kilo
"I'm here with ya the whole way......" (opens up door and jumps out!!!) Good luck on your first solo!!!!

Sooon….the urge to pull up…had that…encouraging instructor.
Oooo a new student!
Mike had a great landing and an amazing CFI. He learns quickly and you let him do the work, best way to learn. Soloing in no time!
Best way to learn, indeed! Thanks man!

You are SUCH a good instructor. That was amazing instructing. Very positive and reassuring. You da man!
The Flying Reporter cheers Jon!! Very kind words there sir, I very much appreciate it!
Awesome, training. My man. Lewdix Aviation. You are the best. Huge fan of your page. Very educational.
Thanks mate! Appreciate it
You teach nicely Lewis , enjoy the VLOGS .
Thanks man!
BRAVO instructing
Nicely done, great instruction
I am starting my PPL training this week. I love watching your videos and seeing people who are like "I dont think I can do this" and then they do!
I remember my first time, it was great! Fantastic video man, keep up the great work!
These videos make me want to learn to fly 🤩
Do it, it’s so great
Impressive how you adjust your teaching technique to the person you have in the left-hand seat Lew 👌
Thanks Kev! I enjoy tailoring my instruction for different people.

Ahh thanks man, but what about the student??

just did the same thing with my student.. told him to watch this video to get another perspective. Awesome work dude, keep up the good content
Sweet man! Thanks brother!
Great video, such a cool and calm instructor. Cheers from Aus!
Thanks mate!
God I wish I could come fly with you! So much fun!!!

drinking via fire hose style learning for that poor guy...we all been there...great teaching
🖤
great videos, great way of teaching, wish you could be my instructor! best regards from the Netherlands.
Watching him get a little slow on that final brought me back to my first landings, I used to do the same thing. I suppose we all did.

🤔Will you do more videos of how to control the plane like in details? Like the whole take off process, landing process. Thank you!
berry berry nice, :D
a few days ago, i watched one of your videos in the lunch break. when you set flaps in the video, my workmate looked and ask me "why he pull the handbrake in the air?" .... so funny moment :D
aaaand you then proceeded to slap him around the ear yea?
@@LewDixAviation hahaha no, told him that´s a kind of "airbrake" :D
Welcome to the SKY..... : )
What degree of bank do you use on your patterns?
So I’m very curious, are flight schools in FL operating as normal? Because here in NY there all still closed.
What type of aircraft is this? I fly warriors and archers and the warriors vy is 79 and rotate speed is 55, rotate in archer is 60
Any idea if your school gives F1 visa for CFI training? I have a CPL ME/SE with IR and really interested in being a CFI
I wish I could take lessons with you

Is this Orlando Executive? Downtown, runways, pattern turn right for 25 and everything look identical lol
Yep!
Do you normally take off without flaps?
Yep, unless it's a short or soft field takeoff
LewDix Aviation Nice, I was trained to never take off without flaps on the PA28. 10 degrees on normal and 25 on short
Flying in Germany, I’ve never heard “cleared for the option” before - you either tell full stop or touch n go. Is that an American clearance?
Nope....here is Switzerland its common too.
AIM 2020 Page 742: 4-3-22 option approach. I just found this also.
@@dtsh4451 AIM is FAA based
LewDix was that you today at Key West?
Yea I was there today!
LewDix Aviation shoot knew it was you I was that 172RG that pulled off to the side for you go in front of us!
Hug Aviation Ah that’s so cool man.. I was checking out your bird as we passed you on the taxiway
Haha, my tail number also ends in 042
You should leave full flaps in after a touch-n-go, it reduces stress on the flap lever. Decent flight otherwise.
Jonn negative. Never done that and never will for a touch and go.
