When my grandma died in 1990, I kept her Osterizer blender when we cleaned out her house. It was made in Milwaukee in the early 1970's out of steel and cast metal with a glass jar. It still works like a champ.

Mine's newer, probably late 70s. I bought it secondhand. I use it several times a week. I use baguettes so hard I have to use a mallet and chisel to break into smaller chunks, and it can crush ice without water. I like that I can use a mason jar with them, and replacement parts are still available.

I bought the Nutribullet, but not one displayed, but the original smaller one. Worked great on smoothies which I used it for but only lasted about a year. Bought another to replace and same happened. Wasn't the motor. It was the rubberized seals on them that would deform/detach and leak. Finally, just bit the bullet and bought the Vitamix and never had a problem.

Their definition of inexpensive and my definition are worlds apart. I own a 1400 watt Ninja - Professional Plus Kitchen System with Auto-iQ that comes with a blender, food processor, and two personal smoothie cups with lids. It is powerful and more cost effective as I got three different products all wrapped in one for about $30 more than just a blender. I have owned it for a couple of years now and the blades have remained sharp. I prefer fruit smoothies to kale and never make my own mayo but have an immersion blender for that. I make my own pesto and the ninja does a fantastic job chopping the nuts and greens. I also make my own nut butters too. I know not everyone wants or needs all of these items but having a single serve smoothie cup beats having to wash the whole blender.

Gonna have to say I'm still betrayed by the recommendation of the nutribullet since it has a track record of not lasting more than six months (according to a few amazon reviews!) The manufacturer themselves have recommended replacement after six months. Sure, it made hummus but a food processor still served that purpose fine; the smoothies were like, okay, and I felt it like thew the ingredients up around the sides of the pitcher. I'm completely baffled by them having a plastic pitcher AND saying it definitely doesn't last.

From ATK latest blender test for Best Blender 2023: We liked how quiet this blender was, relatively speaking, and it did a very good job with every task. Smoothies were a touch frothier than we prefer, and it took a little coaxing with the tamper to get this machine to grind almond butter continuously, though once it did, the results were beautiful and silky smooth. Its interface was initially a little confusing to navigate, with small and sometimes cryptic icons and a tiny on/off button. But after we got the hang of using it, we liked it just fine.

I would not buy any of these throw your money away blenders. I have a vitamix and that's all I will ever have.

@gustavodiaz6445 my model is an all manual dials and switch MCO130. I've had it ten years and no problems at all.

Yeah Right, these people are paid to say a certain one is the best. The Breville is by far the best on here, don't trust what these sellouts have to say...

It seems you missed the point this equipment review. Nothing in this lineup surpassed the $200US Breville, ATK's favourite mid-priced blender. This was a test of blenders under $100US so the Breville doesn't fit the category, but was included as a standard of sorts for comparison.

Seems like "America's Test Kitchen" should highlight USA made blenders!

Stop it. America's kitchen is located in America. It tests things within America. Each of those blenders don't require a roundtrip ticket on an international flight to go purchase one. They are here. In America. Did this really have to be explained?

@@Es_Elle Fine. Please post a list of American made blenders here and I will personally deliver it to the ATK folks.
