The MSI is also more vibrant with wider colour gamut and more balanced spectrum (important for some people when it comes to viewing comfort). My recommendation is clear - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/.
Discovering your channel and wow! That is the most extensive review I've seen, on any subject whatsoever. I felt like a student engineer in classroom. Nice. I hesitate between this and a 240hz model without QD, what do you think ? it's for complete gaming mostly, I'll play my AAA on a nice TV...
Glad you like the detail! I think for competitive gaming the 240Hz refresh rate can provide a nice edge (assuming your frame rate is suitably high). So you'll probably enjoy the extra refresh rate more than the extra gamut from the QD backlight. 🙂
Thanks for the review. I can't be the only one looking for a decently priced legit local dimming HDR above 144hz. The AOC XMN is never in stock! I think 250 is the fair price for this sort of monitor too..
Won't be reviewing that model, but it's still worth trying the settings from one of the AOC models we've looked at. But really you need to make your own adjustments according to your preferences (and unit - even if it was actually the same model).
Hello amazing review and so satisfying to watch everything in detail. Do you plan reviewing the Asus Rog strix XG27ACS? Im between this MSI monitor, Asus Rog strix XG27ACS, LG UltraGear 27GR83Q and another very interesting monitor Asus VG27AQML1A(i have not seen a good review for this one yet)
My recommendation for the MSI is clear. No plans to review the ASUS, but can tell you it's less vibrant and had weaker contrast, but offers a "single overdrive mode experience". I think it's a good monitor, but personally feel the MSI is better and more "special" - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/ ..
thanks for the review, i bought this monitor the other day and unfortunately arrived with 2 dead pixels, how common would you say dead pixels are? this was the 2nd monitor i've ever purchased so don't really have a frame of refrance
They're not uncommon, unfortunately. When there are >10 million subpixels to go defective some unfortunately might do so. My general advice is to try to get used to a monitor with dead pixels unless they're really obvious (for example towards the central region) or prepare to return a few times. This applies regardless of model, although in my experience the OLED models suffer much less from this sort of thing. They of course have other issues to be aware of and there aren't any options in the same price bracket as the MSI.

No, but my recommendation for the MSI is clear - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/. The Samsung will provide a much less vibrant experience if that's something you're interested in, due to its weaker colour gamut.
@@PCMonitors Thank you for your response. I also do a lot of web browsing and reading on my monitor. Do you think the MSI monitor handles scrolling text well without too much ghosting/overshoot using the "fast" setting?
@@Crypto87 As covered in the review pixel responsiveness is very good and overshoot is not a concern. It's no OLED, but the weaknesses in pixel responsiveness aren't sufficient to cause significant issues for such scenarios.

@@cesarrodriguez1179 As covered in the review it offers excellent potential for work within a variety of colour spaces. As usual you'll want to calibrate using your own calibration instrument if the highest level of colour accuracy is important to you.
I don't, but my recommendation for the MSI (which is more vibrant and unique in the segment due to its backlight) is clear - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/ .
i wanna link this Monitor with my Laptop with rtx 3050. my laptop HDMI 2.1 Port. Will i be able to run games on 1080p 180hz or will it be stuck on 144hz forever with an HDMI 2.0. Should i consider a HDMI 2.1 Monitor instead of this like the VIEWSONIC VX2758A-2K-PRO-3.
The monitor is the limitation here with HDMI 2.0, doesn't matter what port your GPU has. My GPU has HDMI 2.1 as well. But realistically, 144Hz vs. 180Hz on the desktop is not a huge difference and if you're gaming on your laptop how often are you getting >144fps?
They aren't covered in the video because they weren't an issue. They were faintly visible at low refresh rates like 60Hz at times on my unit but not a problem beyond that.
@@PCMonitors So they are less visible on this monitor than for example on some other LG models, like GN800? I'm considering buying this to test it myself.
What do you mean by "best color"? If you mean most vibrant, the MSI. It's also quite a bit more responsive, with slightly stronger contrast and better build quality. My recommendation for the MSI is clear - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/.

@@PCMonitors In terms of durability it seems to have the most problems of all panels. Apple considered BOE but cancelled the order due to the low quality of the panels. Many develop some sort of issues after 8 months. LG Ultragear 32GR93U is BOE a different model using nano ips does not have this issue.
I've seen countless reports of issues over the years with models using panels of all vendors (including AUO and LGD). BOE's mobile displays may be terrible, specific form factors built in specific fabs poor or certain panels subpar. But don't extrapolate that out onto all panels they make. Ironically LGE have themselves switched to using BOE's 27" and ~32" '4K' UHD in the past due to a weird green corner bleed issue with LGD's own panels (example - www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/bg0igj/corner_of_my_lg_4k_monitor_turn_green_does_anyone/ ). Anyway, I have no qualms about recommending this monitor, regardless of panel manufacturer. I've received some good longer term feedback on the VX2728J-2K which is based on the same panel. Obviously if there seems to be an abnormally high failure rate for the MSI or any other recommended model in the future then I won't actively recommend it any more.
According to Chinese UA-camr KaiXinZuiZhongYao the left side of the screen has a 1000k warmer color temperature than the right side. Did you notice or measure a discrepancy like that?
The short answer is; not to that extent. Longer answer... That's a uniformity issue that varies between units and can apply to pretty much any model in this segment. My unit didn't have that extent of uniformity issue at all, excluding some extreme periperhal measurement points where most LCDs especially with dual-stage bezels may have a cooler tint. For example towards the top edge when observing the Lagom text with light grey background (20:27). That strip and certainly the 'bright spot' mentioned there wasn't visible from a normal viewing position or angle but could potentially be picked up by a colorimeter like it was the camera. It's also worth noting that models with very wide gamuts (QD LEDs like this) can have greater perceived white point shifts at different points of the panel.
It shouldn't - per the review gamma was actually too low which brightens up dark shades a bit more than intended. At least it was like that on my unit. But 'IPS glow' will eat away at detail towards the corners and peripheral regions of the screen. If you want to 'artificially' boost detail you could use the 'Night Vision' feature (ua-cam.com/video/sCtX975TQTU/v-deo.htmlsi=4mXklZaXTgE89tfP&t=425 ) or adjust gamma in your graphics driver.
