Noel, yeah, seeing this part of this 747 particularly the interior at least gives us memories when the British Airways 747s were still up and alive with 747 upper deck flights still serving at unforgettable moments for many people who've done it! At least this part being converted into a simulator can at least give this British Airways 747 a new legacy in my opinion.
It's such a shame to see a 747 being taken apart, bring a tear to my eye.
At least a part of it is actually going to good use
Very Top Gear-y vibes with this race, absolutely loved it!
on this episode of Top Gear, Noel takes a train, A Boeing drives on the M5 and Hammond isn’t there!
I don't know what's more amazing, the 747 upper deck or the fact you managed all those train journeys without serious delays, cancellations or missed trains due to those delays and cancellations. But I've got a feeling those prime time train tickets probably cost more than just renting that whole lorry haha
Awesome Video Noel! Thanks for using my footage as well! Such an amazing thing they have done to make such an amazing experience!
Thanks again! Yep it's a brilliant set up!
That was a nail-biter! Fun adventure (as always)!
Thanks Nancy!
Trains, plane and automobile! Truly enjoyed this video. I hope you will revisit this craft one day when it’s in its new role.
A great title to get views without it being clickbait! You literally were racing a 747 on an IET 😂 Nice one Noel 👍🏼
Brilliant video. Bravo!!!! And the winner is....... Noel Philips!!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄
I flew on G-BYGA from LHR to IAH in 2012. Unfortunately not on the upper deck. Sad to see her go but nice to see that some of her is being preserved.
I’m glad I had the chance to fly on a British Airways 747 in 2019.
What an amazing video Noel, quite emotional seeing her arrive at her new home. Well done for winning the race.
We have a new candidate for best Loo Review yet! How often do we get a flight deck loo review?
AWESOME!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!! UNIQUE!!!!!!!! THANKS TO YOU AND MUM!!!!!!
This video is really cool, there is nothing like the 747, nothing can replace it.
My first international flight was on British Airways Seattle to London on a 747 in 2015. There is nothing more majestic than seeing the plane with pilots so high up through the airport windows. Will always be my most memorable flight.
The fire cannon on front of the utility vehicle is the coolest thing I've ever seen
Cool idea to save at least part of an aircraft as a sim
Fun as always Noel
Great video Noel. The 747s were iconic to BA been lucky enough to have travelled in Club with BA staff travel. The upper deck bubble as we called it was great and so quiet. It definitely was the Queen of the Air.
The only long haul flights i've ever done have been on a 747. Sydney Australia to LAX and SFO 6 times and flew on the upper deck in 1st class on the 7th flight when i moved to the U.S . Loved the 747.
That was fun! As a rail/aviation fan I really enjoyed that. Was interesting to see the DMUs operating at a higher speed than the GWR Class 802s - to anyone who can answer this, did the truck have enough diesel to transport the 747 end to end without refuelling ?
The truck didn't stop for fuel - it went straight through! And yes interesting regarding the running speeds. I believe the line between Kemble and Cheltenham must have a slower running speed.
@@noelphilips I asked a friend who works for GWR and got her to check the logs for the day you travelled, Noel - turns out the entire 802 stock was still running on "reduced mode" due to cracks being discovered in their frames
@@Trek001 holy smokes! Were these units manufactured in Japan or in the UK
@@japanesetrainandtravel6168 They were built in at both Kasado Works, Japan and Pistoia, Italy - though I am not sure from where the affected units came from in particular
@@japanesetrainandtravel6168 The Class 800s were mostly assembled in the UK with the first few made in Japan. The 802s were mostly assembled in Italy with I believe the first few in Japan
Taxi public transport? Hmmmm. Great video though, hitting me in the old school Top Gear feels
Great video! Had fun watching your journey.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vlog as always! Yes, planes, trains and automobiles are a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next. Be safe! Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
That was amazing!... Glad a piece of her will still live, Thanks for the video!!!
Thanks for watching!
That was more fun than i thought it was going to be. You had the tension building all the way to the hanger at Barton Airport..Thanks so much for sharing a bit of history.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow! Great video Noel I can’t believe that the 747 will live on as a simulator! So glad that she isn’t destined for scrapping like so many of her fellow 747s! 😢
Looked like a lot of fun to “race” a 747!
Cheers 🥂
Thanks for watching!
If you ever visit Schiphol airport again, there’s a former KLM 747-400 parked at the Corendon Village hotel near the airport. It’s worth a visit.👍
Nice t-shirt “SCAT Number 2 Airline”, yet it was first airline reviewed. Two thumbs up!
Sad to so see the Queen of the sky in such a condition. I have fond memories of my BA Lump flight in ‘VF’ to JFK back in 2015 . Really great idea train v plane , fun video 😀
What a fun thing to do Noel. I've never travelled First Class but certainly flown on a good few 747's and I have visited the flight deck. I found the water cannon tribute particularly emotional.
Didn't know there was such a thing as an AirTag...Thank you.
Once again another epic vid Noel! Congrats, u deserved 2 win against the legend that is the 747.
I will always love the 747!
What a fun video, something a bit different and great to see part of a beautiful aircraft preserved. Nicely done Noel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a cool episode! Got Top Gear vibes all over, amazing. Thanks as always, Noel!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Most of it's been sold by now, but if anyone's looking for authentic 747 parts, I highly recommend checking out Plane Reclaimers, based in St Athan; they're the company that's been recycling the BA 747s (and are also in charge of preserving the BOAC Retrojet 747!), and have sold everything from window cuts to cockpit instruments from the 747 fleet; I was lucky enough to get my hands on the radio tuner from G-CIVP, the 747 which holds the record for the fastest subsonic flight across the Atlantic.
Wow, Noel! My heart was banging right along with the travel! And you won! Hurrah! In light of that, I think that B/A should pay for your trip. I'm hoping to be in Bolton next summer, and will be landing at Manchester. I hope I run into you to somewhere there, and we can say hi or do lunch. Keep having fun!
What a fantastic video Noel. Look forward to watching many more. Thanks!
Another great video, as always. I really enjoyed this video. It was a different video, but alot of fun to watch.
Thanks for watching!
That was almost as fun as around the world in 80 hours ..... well not really, but it was fun.
Great viewing…loved my transatlantic journeys on the Queen of the skies
Quite interesting!
great vidio Noel, it was nice to meet you at the opening of the deck the other week too.. keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks so much for coming out.
Absolutely loved this. Awesome work.
Was thinking. I was watching an old episode of top gear there for a moment lol
This is by far the best video you have ever made!
Wow, thanks!
I loved “Apple has just advised me that I left my boeing 747 behind”
Great video Noel and lots of fun. You won the race! I hope that the loos had been emptied before transport. All the best from Melbourne Australia.
I appreciate the usage of the correct type of train b-roll to whichever one you were on at the time. Good attention to detail! :)
Thanks!
Fantastic Noel mate really enjoyed this ❤
What fun! It really did feel like a race watching it, great job!
Thank you!
Noel. A novel idea and very entertaining. A great advert for the future 747 simulator.
Great video, Noel - and a great piece of reversing by the truck driver to get her into the hangar at the end. Those guys rock!
Thanks 👍
I salute your passion for aviation.
Great video as always.
Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
@@noelphilips you are most welcome.
Awesome Noel thank you we enjoy watching your channel
Thanks for watching!
Great vid! Loved the race on the trains you took so as to get to Manchester on time. It's a bit silly that you to take 3 trains to get there though. There actually is no other way.
Awesome! I can’t wait to book in on this and give it a go. Thanks for the video as always mate. Great work
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed it.
Fascinating! Very well edited video too showing both journeys. Bravo 👏
Thank you so much 😀
What a super fun video!! Thank you
What a great story! That 747 will go on to serve; loved the water cannon salute!
well.... the title was misleading.... but actually a really good video! Well put together, enjoyed this.... had a Top Gear challenge vibe to it. Well done Noel!!
Great video Noel. It was like a Top Gear challenge 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video Noel - really enjoy your videos - thanks for sharing all this with us! Always loved flying the 747, and 12 of my 13 747s flights were on BA. Got to fly the upper deck once, that was on SAA - they had at the time (2003) economy in the upper deck, cool experience.
A delightful video. Thank you!
What fun! It was nice to see you out of some middle east airline for a change.
Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks for making me smile today.
Thanks for watching!
Great fun. Thanks for the ride :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed this review, even though I did hold my breath and 'ran' in my head for your connection at Birmingham New St hahaha. What a brilliant, close race. Cheers once again Noel.
Thanks for watching!
Two things....LOVE race videos people do. Always best Top Gear episodes.
Second, and a major pet peeve if mine, taxi drivers who need directions. The Knowledge needs bringing in outside of London. Taxi drivers here in Sheff can be a nightmare for not knowing where owt is.
Another cracking video Noel, tha never disappoints. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great video Noel! Love these types of videos
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant to see the old Queen still having a use. Great video.
Thanks for watching!
Fun video Noel. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this "Top Gear"-esque race between a lorry and the train. You should do something similar again!
Congrats on the move man that’s epic! I’m loving building my channel I’m getting so close to my dream of 1k thanks for the inspiration
I'm surprised it was on the lorry that way around. Just a massive air scoop
Great video. Thanks Noel
My pleasure!
Awesome video Noel
Thanks!
I would love to live on a plane
What great fun, Noel. Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's sad to see The Queen of the Sky being retired and demolished. But I am glad to see they preserved a part of the plane. At least I was fortunate enough to able to ride them several times. You guys got nice looking trains.
Hi Noel.
That must be a first !.....a flight deck loo review 😂
Amazing skills of the truck driver reversing the 747 into her new hanger, too.
You do really get to so many fun things...don't you ?🧡
well done. I have to say I have always loved the iconic 747. I saw my first one as a child in the then Rhodesia. (now Zimbabwe)
That was brilliant thank you Noel 😀
Glad you enjoyed it.
That was fun and a bit different. Well done.
Hi Noel. I enjoyed that suspense and action movie from the very first seconde till the end. Thanks a lot. As usual huuuuuge hugs from Colombia
Many thanks!
Great video Noel it was exciting 😀
Thanks! 😀
Proper cool video and an airfield close to my home of Swindon. I used to volunteer for Delta Jets who used to have a hanger there.
Would love more race videos Noel very interesting
this shows how tough it really is to travel around England
Wow great video Noel, also regarding the making 😉💪
Thank you 🙌
I Hope you do more like this
Its intens and funny to see what transport is faster
This race reminded me of a classic Top Gear episode.
Great video!!! I do agree they should have been made to do it at night due to how many problems it caused on the roads but thats typical police competence
The progress of 'The Deck', aboard its vehicular-bogie [ a relatively slow, but more or less constant speed ], up the country, versus Noel's 'staccato' passage, reminds me of overnight shipping [ as observed on 'MarineTraffic' ] - even though the ship may be moving at what appears to be a 'slow' nautical speed, progress is achieved, by way of that ship's forward movement being constant, and (inevitably) unrelenting.
Brilliant video noel!
Many thanks!
That was awesome Noel very cool. I love your videos keep them coming
Thanks 👍
welcome back m8
Noel, its fantastic they let you explore it before they moved it!
