Trying Out the RIDGID Cordless 30 Degree Framing Nailer

  • Easy to load up, easy to use. Provides accurate and consistent results time after time after time. The nine pound weight and unwieldy shape feels a bit awkward on the bench but in use the tool is well balanced and doesn't feel heavy or awkward in any way.
    No nail jams and the air pressure was consistent with a good high capacity battery. The 2.0 amp regular battery I tried would fire off a nail but there was a long wait, probably six seconds or so, before it was ready to fire the next nail. I used 3 inch x 0.131 inch nails.
    Find it on the Home Depot website by searching for this unique reference number, 316523380.

    You didn't show it toenailing, it doesn't look to be a good toenailer with that tip.

    • @PicRic
      @PicRic  8 місяців тому

      Great point Mike; The no-mar pad, or "tip", can be removed to improve functionality but it may then leave marks in softwoods. In some cases the toenailing may need to be hand finished with a hammer. Does that help you?

    Did you have to fill it up with air before using?

    • @PicRic
      @PicRic  Рік тому +1

      No, it's just as you see it in the video, load nails, fit battery, set up and go. There is an air top up valve and it can be refilled to 125 psi with compressed air. Does yours need air, Zero?

    Good video, On the air fill valve, do you fill the air tank. How to do you maintain the framing nailer?

    • @PicRic
      @PicRic  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you for watching. There is an air fill valve and it can be refilled to 125 psi with compressed air. Maintenance is as you'd expect; keep the tool clean and in good condition; run through the daily checklist to ensure safe operation. It's all in the accompanying manual.

    • @ajmedeiros77
      @ajmedeiros77 Рік тому +1

      30 degree nailers use either clipped to full OFFSET heads. Some places require full heads like hurricane areas etc. but the offset full heads look the same in the wood

    I have one, got it as an open box… not sure if the air tank is working proper or not? Is there a way you can tell how much psi is in the tank? Should you be able to hear it being filled? Thanks

      Do you have the manual? There is a section about psi drop and how to fix it on page 10. You can also download a manual from Home Depot here, images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/41/41767c82-9e89-4cbc-a599-625edd55d1ec.pdf.

      I did find the manual online, I’m just wondering if I can check how much psi is in it? I put a pressure gauge to it, but it won’t register anything. There’s a white plastic valve stem, which seems strange. Do you recall if yours has a plastic valve stem?
      It seems different than a normal tire valve stem, so I’m wondering if something is faulty or not.

    • @PicRic
      @PicRic  2 роки тому +1

      @@sheldonandres Mine has a metal threaded part with the white plastic bit inside it. It's probably different because it's meant to take a pipe from a compressor. Can you try that?

    • @sheldonandres
      @sheldonandres 2 роки тому +1

      Okay that does sound like what I have. Maybe it is full of air. I just can’t seem to be able to test how much psi it has and no air seems to go in.
