I swear those Monty's pickups are the best. I have them in my tele and they are my favorite. Pete is a tone master, everything he endorses sounds amazing.

I recieved my workshop series guitar today and I can confirm they're worth every penny. To me, custom guitars should feel special from the moment you open the case, eveytime you open the case. This feels every bit as special as my fender custom shop, if not more. Videos and photos do not do these guitars justice. They really are works of art.
@uv77mc85 Depends how you value worth? You may value stuff by its re-sale value. I value things by other factors such as how well it's built or the feeling I get using it. When a guitar is so well built, you have no intention of ever selling it, re-sale value is of very little importance. Re-sale values can change. One day, it may be worth 20x what I paid for it. Look at PRS dragon guitar. They couldn't give them away and now they're worth a fortune, things change. But, unless you plan on selling soon. Re-sale value shouldn't be a consideration. But, if you consider the craftsmanship and compare to other guitars of similar value.... these are worth every penny!
I see too many people spilling negativity over something that Pete has clearly put a lot of heart into. I've also seen the other videos on the DPT. Personally I love the Flint Blue colour of the production line and I have pre-ordered one. Just because you don't like some things doesn't mean you always have to put it out there. Remember that people tend to do that more often than writing their praise when they do like things.
Like any special 2K plus build , you will have to want it , and want to keep it , as re sale will be a fraction of what you paid . Why buy to sell ? well I don't buy any guitar to sell on but circumstances may and do change for people , s*it happens , and if you spent 3k on a Fender / Gibson / PRS / Suhr / Japanese Ibanez etc you may see much more of your investment than a ( albeit great luthier UK ) hand made Chapman however good it is . I'm sure these will be seriously reduced in a years time or so , happy to be proved wrong as the people who design and make them seem to be sterling chaps 😄
It's very good to see the infinity symbol on the 12th fret put aside. I never liked it at all, and always kept me from wanting a Chapman. Now I may finally become a customer. Good decision!
The guitars do look and sound great, but hard to spend that sort of money on a guitar without a connection to an experienced luthier production (e.g. corona California, Kalamazoo, Fujigen, etc) The other issue is the resale value. I think the import range is great value, but tough here I’m guessing this is just an anchoring move
They will tank on resale as no one will know why they were so expensive in the first place. I mean custom shop Fender has weight behind it. This? Bugger all.
They are very sweet guitars as I’ve tried them. Keep in mind though because they are 2.5k instead of 4k+ there’s probably not much to get work up about in how much you would lose moving either on. Possibly 1.5k for either. Sure that’s a greater % on the Chapman, but it costs up to 2k less in the first place. Just trying to think objectively on the topic 🤷♂️

Most of the Chapman range is affordable and often budget friendly. These are short runs with PJD guitars to celebrate certain models without budget constraints.
I rarely am all that impressed with how a guitar sounds in a demo video, but when Pete started playing in the "Let's hear the neck pickup" section, it really got my attention. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER GUITAR. 😬

PJD guitars. It’s part of the serial no’s on the back of the headstocks. Rob talked to me about PJD at the Birmingham guitar show earlier this year. I don’t think they’re trying to hide anything as I’ve spoken with Andertons about them on the phone and they also confirmed straight away they were made by PJD.

It's hardly been a secret. There was a video on the Chapman channel a few days after the launch where they visited the factory with a huge PJD/UKGB sign next to the entrance. It's never been a secret.
It's commonplace for guitar companies to subcontract manufacturing to another company. Example, Ibanez, PRS and Squier all use the same Cort factory in South Korea. But they don't advertise the fact- it's not a secret but it doesn't say "PRS by Cort" on the headstock- and people don't really care very much. It's interesting that some people want to hold a much smaller manufacturer to different standards from the giants, just because some people have a grudge against the owner.
They continue to not understand their own brand. The Chapman Pro range are beautifully made and better specced than Fender CS... But when you are buying the latter you are buying the social status that goes with the label. A Chapman will never have this and will therefore never be worth CS money.
So they are only selling a couple of already made British builds? A while ago on the website there was information about this whole 'English workshop' range and the options you could choose when ordering one (not really many options to be fair...just like what finish and fingerboard wood but the point I'm making is that it was a genuine built to order custom guitar). But just had a look and that has disappeared from the website. So are they not doing that anymore then after selling these off? A shame if so as it is nice to have a high end range built in the home country (even if built under contract). Unfortunately none of the Chapman models are something I'd buy as the necks are way too thick for my preference. I do actually like quite a lot of their other spec choices and the value for money of many models...getting stainless frets, Hipshot tuners and USA pickups on guitars around the £700 is pretty damn good. But when I see the neck profile specs of something like 23 - 24mm...yeah that's not for me. Schecter's 19 - 20mm ultra-thin C is my favourite. If Chapman ever offered a choice of both thick and slim necks for each model it would attract my attention though!
The problem Chapman has is they did too good of a job making affordable guitars. Now people see the price tag of custom shop guitars and feel ripped off. When in reality, a custom shop from fender or gibson would be 2x or 3x the price. So, its still techincally a bargain in comparison.
My thoughts are these looks well built and sound lovely. You can tell the extra attention to hardware and wood- the contour cuts, the specs of Pete's purple tele...it sounds airy and balanced. Though, I do wish a few more colors were involved. Either way, I dont need to get my knickers in a twist (the British say that, right?) on which 3rd parties are involved. Looks worth 5 grand to me. This whole "consumer gotcha" thing has gotten out of hand. They're genuine blokes who dedicate their days trying to make and showcase SO much hand picked stuff they think are cool and I that wish I could buy and will someday. And they do it with wit and presentation. They are constantly finding ways to stay fresh and break the mold of a conventional sales show. Seriously, it has become more grounded, the production is more tasteful, editing is sharper, and products as current as possible. Never mind their sales team and customer service. How about we focus on that instead?

If you’ve got a beef with the name then there are plenty of other options out there but loads of people like them and even more have enormous respect for Pete and his taste in instruments so would be happy to have one of his.
Phil McKnight also explained several times why he couldn't disclose the maker. It was the makers decision. The maker didn't want their other rebadge clients to be put in a position where the public know Badlands prices were so far under what those other clients charged customers. There was no subterfuge or deceit, just simple client relations where an OEM wants to safeguard their own business.
Why do you feel compelled to announce to the world that the Chapman name is a “deal breaker” to you? Are you labouring under the misapprehension that you’re an important man on the world stage and your guitar purchasing decisions are of interest to all? How do you manage to get up in the morning, with that massive ego weighing you down?
Come on people , reinventing the wheel , They are just a copy of a strat & a Tele with a upside down headstock £2,500 " WHAT " for that money you could buy a real Fender. Also Resale value of these guitars will also drop like a stone or a rock if you prefer that type of music , If you got that money to spend go get a Les Paul .🤔
Anderson's need to get away from this Chapman brand (yes I know they're owner/stakeholders) but the brand has had such a horrible shady history Id never consider one.
The Grove Green DPT is flippin awesome in person as I got my hands on one at the Birmingham guitar show this year. I wasn’t so keen on the other DPT colours though. Also the feel of the UK (PJD) custom shop guitars was on another level compared to the 1k overseas model. But that’s quite the norm with any other brand like Fender squire/USA compared to their Custom Shop.
Fender has been happy in the past to put Seymour Duncans in their guitars when it’s an artist model, don’t really understand the concern. There are so many great pickups out there and supporting the likes of Monty is a great shout.
@slawsonscot the point is Chapman doesn't make ANYTHING. They just rebrand other companies' work. In every aspect of an instrument. So what they have input on a neck shape.... my issue is not with Monty's pickups or Grover or Wilkinson using them. My issue is with Chapman not making anything and calling themselves a guitar brand. They're an illusion and, quite frankly, a lie.

Phil McKnight also explained several times why he couldn't disclose the maker. It was the makers decision. The maker didn't want their other rebadge clients to be put in a position where the public know Badlands prices were so far under what those other clients charged customers. There was no subterfuge or deceit, just simple client relations where an OEM wants to safeguard their own business.
Why do you feel compelled to announce to the world that the Chapman name is a “deal breaker” to you? Are you labouring under the misapprehension that you’re an important man on the world stage and your guitar purchasing decisions are of interest to all? Come on people , reinventing the wheel , They are just a copy of a strat & a Tele with a upside down headstock £2,500 " WHAT " for that money you could buy a real Fender. Anderson's need to get away from this Chapman brand (yes I know they're owner/stakeholders) but the brand has had such a horrible shady history Id never consider one.

Colors are pretty awful. You dont make the hardware, pickups, or the guitar. How very Chapman. Happy for Pete none the less.
The Grove Green DPT is flippin awesome in person as I got my hands on one at the Birmingham guitar show this year. I wasn’t so keen on the other DPT colours though. Also the feel of the UK (PJD) custom shop guitars was on another level compared to the 1k overseas model. But that’s quite the norm with any other brand like Fender squire/USA compared to their Custom Shop.
Fender has been happy in the past to put Seymour Duncans in their guitars when it’s an artist model, don’t really understand the concern. There are so many great pickups out there and supporting the likes of Monty is a great shout.
@slawsonscot the point is Chapman doesn't make ANYTHING. They just rebrand other companies' work. In every aspect of an instrument. So what they have input on a neck shape.... my issue is not with Monty's pickups or Grover or Wilkinson using them. My issue is with Chapman not making anything and calling themselves a guitar brand. They're an illusion and, quite frankly, a lie.

They have some guitars that are absolutely unique and, like Sire and many others they work with well established guitar shapes too. I don’t understand the offence taken at these things - if you don’t want it, don’t buy it. If someone else wants it, then it’s their money and their guitar journey.
