      I was thinking about that too, not only can you get better center channel from A7000, you could also get better 360 spatial audio bubble and additional subwoofer performance if they make it work. Sony should really look into this idea.

Sony was much clearer and the bass was much better(had the better bass speaker) But it would not fill the room like the 950A. Max volume on Sony was less than half the sound on Samsung.

      @JoeBlackDreamer Рік тому

      @@MasterEggroll However, HT A9 has a better soundstage than any soundbar system. They are different ways of 360 audio reproduction, and A9 simulates phantom projection to 12 virtual speakers much better. HT 7000 can also sound louder, or more precise on the frontal projection of the dialogues, but it has a directionality analogous to other soundbar systems, where the soundbar is the queen of the setup: A9 has no references of this kind of reproduction.

    For the HT-A9 do you need to use HMDI 2.1 cables to get Dolby atmos and DTS:X? Should I be running HMDI 2.1 cable from my 4K Blu-ray player to the HT-A9?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +1

      Its not necessary on the video side unless you are going beyond 4k 60. However, some brand new TV's are using the 2.1 format to sync the audio and video to remove lip sync issues. So if you have a brand new tv that truly supports 2.1 and will stream from the TV apps, it would be worth it. Thanks for watching

    Thanks for this. I really like the Sony HT-A5000 and that it has little built in subwoofers. I personally don’t like subwoofers but I do like surround sound. Do you know if it’s possible to set this up with the surround speakers but without a separate subwoofer? So that the subwoofer just continues via built in ones in the soundbar and you also get surround sound?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +3

      Hi and thank you for your question. Sony designed this soundbar and the other wireless speakers that connect with it to work with or with out the set up in the configuration you have described. So, yes! If do not want a sub, you could just add the wireless surround speakers to the HT-A5000 and omit the wireless sub, and the built-in subwoofers in the HT-5000 bar will continue to work. The only thing to keep in mind is this configuration would only work with the Sony SA-RS3S Wireless Rear Surround Speakers that Sony designed for this and the HT-A7000. You can see what they look like here: www.audioadvice.com/sony-sa-rs3s-wireless-rear-surround-speakers Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Hi :-) How to place the speakers if the sofa is directly on the wall?
    And what about watching movies on a beamer - I wouldn’t have the Sony TV as a center then? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for reaching out! If your sofa is against the wall, speaker stands on either side of the couch, and then angling the rear speakers slightly toward you at ear level would help direct the sound towards the listening position with either model. Just to clarify, all of these Sony models do not require a Sony TV in order to work. However, If you were in the market for a Dolby Atmos sound system plus a new TV, or if you already owned one of the newer Sony TVs, we wanted to let people know the benefits of having the Sony TV as a center channel while providing the ultimate Sony setups for people interested in those. If you are using a projector instead of a TV, the soundbar format may not work as well since most people probably do not have a TV cabinet underneath the projected image, or a need to mount it below the image. While you could mount either soundbar (HT-5000 or HT-7000) to the wall underneath the projected image, this might affect the sound if the image limits where you can actually mount it. So, the Sony HT-A9, which is an alternative to the soundbar format would work great for this application! Please, feel free to reach out to us in chat at audioadvice.io/aa-chat so we can help you determine if the Sony HT-A9 or another solution, including on-wall or in-wall speakers are right for you. We hope this helps, and thank you so much for watching.

The bass is punchier and doesn't cause everything to rumble and the surround sound experience is better (still weak Dolby Atmos affect but kinda there). Only reason I did the switch is because I get a great discount at my job. If I had to pay retail price I would regret my purchase as this isn't worth the extra 1000$ over a full Sonos setup. Again my place is tiny and that could be part of the reason why I'm not getting amazing experience others had.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Ahmad. Thanks for your question! The other commenters are correct that the two systems do not combine together. The decision really comes down to the level of performance you are looking for and the amount of space you have. If space is a little tight, go for the HT-A9 and never look back. If you want a great system for a medium to large size room, we would recommend the flagship A7000 bar for a true 7.1.2 or 9.1.2 system when you expand it with the additional sub and wireless rears. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    I find HTA7000 surround effect kinda mediocre tbh, maybe because of ceiling high (about 4 meters) and distance (~5,1 m) from tv.. Dont get me wrong, sound is exceptional, bass from SW5 is impactful (at ~60% my floor stars to shake from bass ) but surround effect and that virtual sound is kinda meh..

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому

      The room will have a big impact on Atmos height speakers. It sounds like ceilings could be a little too high to optimally bounce the sound coming out of height speakers back down to your "sweet spot." Thanks for commenting and watching!

    is it just me or is the drivers sony uses keeps getting smaller? The ht-st5000 atmos soundbar had larger drivers for all the channels and the main front speakers had dedicated tweeters. There are always drawbacks with products nomatter how expensive the product is. It seems that products are not completely thought out when being conceived. Manufacturers are in such a big hurry to get something on the market so they don't miss out on those dollars they cut corners and send us flawed products to deal with. But what they fail to realize is that bad reviews of their flawed products creates hesitancy in the consumers wallet or purse to purchase their products which is detrimental to their bottom line. Maybe one day they will figure that out. The HT-A9 is the big thing now but how long will it be before the next big thing comes along that will dethrone it. And believe me when it comes it will be flawed.

    Adding rears doesn't take the 'system' up by an integer value of 2. When you add 2 wireless rears to the 5000 and 7000 they are still 5.1 & 7.1 respectively. Your video is misinformation. What happens on the practical level is that the rears go from DSP phantom to DSP discreet channels.

    Sony really need to make a white centre speaker for the HT-A9. it's a really poor marketing ploy try and get people to buy their oled. When most of us dont want one as we already have an LG OLED. I will still get the HT-A9 as all the news about it so far is nothing but love and it looks perfect for my room too. But I really hope they release a centre speaker soon. Such a stupid thing not to do. It would be a 5 star must have product otherwise.

    • @DanVanDamme

      I for one, would still get the HT-A9 to pair with my LG OLED since the two front speakers create a phantom center speaker that apparently works really well, at least according to the review I saw on UA-cam. He had a Sony X95J and felt the phantom center channel sounded better without the Sony TV connected to the A9.

I don’t currently own the A9 yet, but it would be interesting to test it out to see how effective the system is at reproducing a center channel without a physical center speaker (ie phantom center speaker).
