phil woods was strong from the 1990's and down.. he is older and doesnt have the lung capacity of others like mr. anchipolovsky so he gives way to the young bulls. mr. anchipolovsky is fantastic but will take him years to approach mr. woods as a master virtuoso and top of the heap player. I love phil woods and his recordings will stand the test of time. best of all time on alto... i thinks so. he is a non comformist and totally dedicated to his art on his terms. never sold out.

Phil is the best alto player on the face of the earth. Although Robert is real close. He should be, he's probably the best student Phil ever had.

Phil is a phenomenal player and one of my favorites but I think that title should go to Charlie Parker. Even Mr. Woods would probably agree
