BC banning drug use in public spaces in major pullback of decriminalization

- The B.C. government says it will ban drug use in all public spaces, including parks and hospitals, as part of a major overhaul of its drug decriminalization pilot project.
The move comes amid a raging debate over the province’s approach to the ongoing deadly toxic drug crisis, including decriminalization and “safe supply.”
Possession of up to 2.5 grams of a variety of drugs - including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine - will remain decriminalized in private residences, places where people are legally sheltering plus overdose prevention and drug-checking sites.

Public drug use should never have been allowed in the first place.
It was obviously a terrible idea from the start.
We need drunk driving lanes to prevent drunk driving.
Where are the experts who claimed it works. Not worth the cost and not worth the crimes.
I remember when drugs were illegal the streets were much cleaner and much more safe.
The day wokeism failed...
“Those people are going to be driven back into the alleys” better a alley than a playground. It’s not only about addicts, it’s also about public safety, why is that never considered?
This was the stupidest idea to have people be allowed any type of drugs.
It makes sense. Nudity is not allowed in public places, drinking beer is not allowed in public places, so why would drugs be allowed then.
Forced rehab for these people. This has gone on long enough. These drugs are poison not a good time.
Hospitals and a lot of public places don't allow smoking. Why is this even an issue? There are just too many people without their brains in power. Time to vote them out this year.
BC NDP government is the worst BC government we had.
Vancouver has become horrific. I have seen so much active drug use in busses or restaurants. We need to clean up the province. These restrictions are excellent. In Vancouver even my ex is now a addict. With no law against it and being autistic she believes they are not bad for you. Hopefully more lives are saved. Lets work on getting housing and jobs for the people in need.
As a young person with a family I would never ever move to a place that allows open drug use. I never want my children to be exposed to open drug use or come to the assumption that it's normal or okay. Why anyone would think that this creates a healthy living environment is beyond crazy to me.
Too late, your negligence/corruption allowed too much crime to enter either intentional or not, you will have to be tried under rico
"substance use disorder" isn't that pleasant. An addict is an addict.
Evetything we do in this country seems to have the end goal of making everybody destitute and miserable. Im starting to think we are being destroyed on purpose.
This is where woke mentality gets you!
All NDP and Liberal politicians and burocrats should get OUT of B.C. I have a toddler and now I have to think twice because going anywhere. These “advocates” for decriminalization do not think about seniors and children.
