His prize from the friends of Israel for wrecking the ceasefire vote.
The tories wrecked that not him
You obviously haven't read the Labour amendment, because it clearly calls for a ceasefire, and does so more emphatically than the SNP motion, going even further to impress the importance of Palestinian statehood.
Here is the full wording of the Labour amendment:
"That this House believes that an Israeli ground offensive in Rafah risks catastrophic humanitarian consequences and therefore must not take place; notes the intolerable loss of Palestinian life, the majority being women and children; condemns the terrorism of Hamas who continue to hold hostages; supports Australia, Canada and New Zealand’s calls for Hamas to release and return all hostages and for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, which means an immediate stop to the fighting and a ceasefire that lasts and is observed by all sides, noting that Israel cannot be expected to cease fighting if Hamas continues with violence and that Israelis have the right to the assurance that the horror of 7th October cannot happen again; therefore supports diplomatic mediation efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire; demands that rapid and unimpeded humanitarian relief is provided in Gaza; demands an end to settlement expansion and violence; urges Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice’s provisional measures; calls for the UN Security Council to be meet urgently; and urges all international partners to work together to establish a diplomatic process to deliver the peace of a two-state solution, with a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable Palestinian state, including working with international partners to recognise a Palestinian state as a contribution to rather than outcome of that process, because statehood is the inalienable right of the Palestinian people and not in the gift of any neighbour."
Sir Keir saved him and now Sir Keir has his own personal Speaker.
nah rishi made a point of "working together" nudge nudge wink wink "with the speaker".
his pet.
His dad started labour friends of Israel. Explains alot
@dondoodatNope! Friends is just a undercover word so they can get up to all kinds of illegal biddings with one another.
What a fucking circus.
Guy Fawkes was unto something mate. The entire thing needs to go. Absolute circus.
How?
You should try Moscow.
this is nothing lol. come to india haha and see how parliament behaves
Now we see what Kier told him after the debacle with thr SNP.
What? That he wouldn't stand against a long standing convention of not opposing the re-election of the speaker of the house?
The Speaker's seat isn't contested at a general election. The poor sods were lumbered with him.
The only thing he's interested in is getting into the house next door, another waste of space.
Oh my god not again..🙄🤦🏾♀️
Stop the world I wanna get off😆🤣
Rewarded for conspiring with Starmer to scupper the SNP Gaza ceasefire vote and ignore Diane Abbott
He ignored Diane Abbot not long ago when she stood up over 40 times .
The people who get to ask questions petition before hand and are put on a programme list only seen by the speaker and office. If their is extra time or a particular importance they will accept more questions for MP on the Pogo.
The only people during pmqs who always have question slots are 3 biggest opposition party leaders
@@REG96AV I will just add that, in that particular Prime Ministers questions they were speaking about Dianne Abbot. So it did seem a bit rude to not acknowledge her at the time.
@MnemonicNex guess your right in that situation. Lisey hoyle has acted before for the benefit of the labour party whilst speaker e.g considering the labour proposement on Gaza on a SNP oposstion day before the SNP's. Diane abbot is pretty much apposed to labour leadership as seen with how quickly she condemned labour with the miscommunication of her deselected.
@@MnemonicNex Thanks i couldnt remember what is was about , But i knew he should have called her.
@rodden1953 Abbot deserves to be ignored - a token black women in a seat so safe if she died and was stuffed the Hackney electorate would still vote for her !
he had blood on his hands for what he did with the opposition day to SNP
If Hoyle is the answer, you're asking the wrong question
Ridiculous so embarrassing grown adults absolutely sick of the lot of them
Its so good to see the Tories sitting on that side of the house. Long may it last.
Huh? Tories on both sides of the house the way the Establishment likes it. Toffs rule and plebs die in gutters waiting for operations or housing 😞
@@fullovstars9447 Just stay in debt and worried how you are going to keep a roof over your head the way they like it.
It'll last until Labour get drunk with power and suffer the same issues that most parties do when they're in power too long - leadership succession battles, corruption, scandals, recessions, wars etc.
Hoyle annoys me so much. He makes me cringe ever time he opens his mouth and spouts out his awkward crap. For a 'speaker', he has next to no oratory skills.
Is Sir Lindsey Hoyle really the best that the Commons can do for Speaker? He was terrible in the last Parliament.
He'll probably overrepresent Farage to appease the right.
@@markhayward7400 he's not really supposed to do anything other then say shut up.
He was terrible? How so?
@@jazztec4255 He tried to do something other than say shut up, and the SNP tried to string him up for it.
No he is not. Possibly Starmer returning the favour Hoyle did for Labour regarding ceasefire debate.
We need Guy Fawkes to return !
He served parliament for a long time, so can he just retire and enjoy that early cup of tea in his house?
And the people of Chorley are left without representation for the 5th general election in a row, perhaps we should be able to vote for a speaker directly, one who doesn't have a duty to a constituency.
I agree, How is this fair that almost 100,000 people are left without representation? Sad
But it’s the mother of all parliaments etc etc
He's not been speaker for 5 elections
@@joeohara3447 He’s been deputy speaker for a long time before his stint as speaker, which is still an MP’s role i believe
@@joeohara3447 he was deputy speaker for bercow so he's had to be impartial for the whole time
Dragged to the chair, mother of thehouse, father of the house, please do me a favour .These gits live in another universe.
They missed a golden opportunity here, they should have had S. Flynne or D.Abbot !!!.
Are we seriously all going to forget the utter contemptible way he treated Diane Abbott?
He did not ask her at one pmq because he ran out of time. He should have I think but it was only one time
I'm glad he did. Nobody likes that woman.
@@gothicgolem2947that specific PMQs centred on a racist Tory party donor's comments about her and all black women, and despite everyone talking about it she was not allowed to speak on the matter herself. It screams "we're talking about you not to you" and it stinks
😂😂
Look up the rules for PMQs. Basically the people guaranteed time to ask questions (in the limited 2x15 minute sessions) are the leader of the opposition and the 2nd largest opposition party. So in the previous parliament that would have been Labour & SNP leaders, this time it will be Conservative and Liberal leaders. Beyond that it's potluck and largely depends on time. And aside from that, if she hadn't had the Labour whip withdrawn for saying some pretty indefensible things, maybe she could have had Starmer name drop her to "catch the eye" of the speaker for her own follow-up. As it was that wasn't going to happen so she took her chances like every other backbencher. And then whined about it when it didn't happen.
What an utterly ridiculous tradition!
Useless Speaker. Should have lost his job ages ago.
Looks like that Gaza vote escapade paid off for him then. Pity he cant be dragged out of the chair as well.
Yup. Absolutely disgraceful
Bro, he's still young 😉
@@biornr.4031how is it disgraceful?
Eh idk about that may have got in regardless
@@gothicgolem2947 he engineered the order of the bills so the SNP couldn't hold their motion because they knew that labour MPs would vote for it against the whip. It means he's not fit for the position
This is unacceptable! Britain deserves better! Not Hoyle. I am utterly disgusted in this pathetic decision...
Getting his payoff for bailing Starmer out with the SNP and the Gaza Vote.
Noooooo, he was totally useless last time.
It could have been worse, he could have been effective.
Should of been dragged back when he avoided talking about the Gaza vote.
Right Honourable Chocolate Teapot is back...
Lindsay hoyle is a joke...he has helped to make the wstmonster a pantomime...
Westminster has always been a bit of a panto
@matthewlvk7366 wastemonster would be more a fitting. Do you not agree.???
What a nonsense with Hoyle returned as Speaker I despair
Give up m8. Emigrate to the Isle o Wight.
This is NOT right. This man should never be considered to be speaker again.
Oh fundamental, I thought he said "fucking mental" lol
what a backward step....is this his reward for snubbing the SNP ?
Should have lost his job ages ago
The lot of them should, laughing whilst the country sinks by their hands
Noooooo, he was totally useless last time
Embarrassing these people in charge
Yes getting threatened with going for an early cup of Tea , must strike fear into all the MPs .
Pure pantomime no wonder nothing gets done. It's parliament that needs reformed.
This is the first Labour mistake!!! The country despises his weakness as the Speaker of the House !!! Don't make any more mistakes so early on!!!
Honestly look at em all just sat there having a chuckle while country goes to shit… bloody shameful. Here an idea… less fucking talking more fucking doing!!
The muppet show we are finished as a nation .
He’s universally called into question by both sides, so I suppose he’s effective as a speaker by default.
Bercow was better just because he was great at being impartial and he held the Tories to account despite being on before. He seems to lean on the side of labour now which really say it all.
Bercow is Center-Right which is the politics of Starmers Labour.
I'm probably wrong, but I thought it wasn't their job to hold MPs to account. Isn't that responsibility only for the MPs? Or am I way off? I like Bercow, but he didn't seem to be very impartial.
@@patbaker2199 The Tories made an enemy of him multiple times by trying to oust him when Cameron was in charge and then trying to subvert the role of the commons throughout the Brexit process.
The civil service are also impartial, but the Tories struggled to make any effective use of them after Truss & co started to make a public enemy of them.
Being "impartial" is a pleasant ideal in theory, but it's pretty hard to stick to when the people you're supposed to be impartial to are confidently and publicly spitting in your lunch.
@@thomasandrewclifford Bercow was an attention seeking arse.
Bercow was a very controversial speaker because he gave a lot more deference to the backbenchers than previous speakers. When the Brexiteers were trying to get a referendum he enabled them to get a lot of parliamentary time. After the referendum, he did the same for the remain benches.
That's not impartiality, it's being partial to backbenchers over the government. Hoyle was chosen because his views about the speakership were more in line with previous convention.
His biases leaning towards the Labour Party is no big secret. Look at what he did to the SNP on the Gaza vote. Schandless.
It's all about whose back can I scratch to scratch mine later politicsics. Even with the speaker. Corrupt and Bias. Two words that describe Lindsay Hoyle.
He s a creep
what an embarrassing load of onanistic nonsense
Well I certainly regret googling that word
yes and no...on the one hand there is something a little bit alienating about it but on the other hand it's a bit of fun - it's probably not possible to stick a camera in a room full of politicians and there not be something intrinsically weird about it - see it for what it is - it's an imperfect institution - look for a way for it to work for you...
Unkind.
Hows it embarrassing or nonsense its a cool tradition

Why anyone think they have right to serve in parliament over 30 or 40 years. Living up with public funds doing very little. They are simply denying the opportunities for the capable young people.
Looks like he got his reward for airding labour in February then
Instead of all the bowing and recognition of power and grovelling to the king and such. How about you thank those that voted for you and reinforce, you are a public servant and the number one priority is to serve us, the common people. Starmer's speech hit completely differently to this establishment pandering.
I assisted Lindsay Hoyle with his 2017 election when he was then deputy speaker. Certainly representation is an issue, I've found him chirpy and passionate about local issues and Labour policies. Alhough my Dad thinks he has too much of an ego, when he helped an independent candidate in the 2019 election. Many of our political quirks are hundreds of years old, it's good to keep some traditions, but some things need updating.
It's also good to see Cat Smith finally on government benches, Kier needs bring in more of the left leaning MP's and reunite the party. I know Cat from my very first year at Lancaster university, through the universities very active Labour club.
Unless of course it's the SNP and then he's loyal to a foreign government above our own people.
Once again the people of Chorley get no voice in Parliament
They voted for it
@@gameloser2893No, they didn't. Not really. When the speaker is running, other major candidates don't run, so the speaker wins every time.
It's such a stupid system
@@dog-jk2hn yeah because independent candidates have never gotten into parliament before
Yeah those 75% who voted for him clearly think he's not representing them. I'm sure a cursory glance at house rules would indicate how a speaker could raise issues affecting his area without conflicting with his role as speaker. I'm also certain that he is more attentive to his constituents than a lot of other MPs unburdened by high office.
Looks like that threat/bribe worked then 🙄
Are they his carers dragging him up there?
Its some bullsht
Ugh Postman Pat again. He was absolutely awful in the last parliament.
Do these people live in 1400's

The speaker is a shame on your house and it's history
It might be a bit unfair, however, the fact that he has been praised by Nigel Farage takes away his grace
Complicit and enabling tory that's going to be he's legacy.
Why on earth would they want him to be speaker again he was awful during the last parliament maybe he can pull his socks up this time
I bet Lindsay does a mean Michael Caine impression

WTF is that old Tory doing as speaker Labour should have got rid of him
Well spoken by all! Sadly, here in Australia we don't have this type of independent Speaker and we should!
What? A chocolate teapot? He did F all to bring or keep any order to the Tory rabble when they desperately needed bringing to heel.
Look at the s hit heads laughing whilst the country sinks under the weight of the parliament of our nation
Hopefully Sir Lindsay will be more forthcoming this parliament, as he was too much on the Tory side last time, more independent this time I hope.

Sir Linseed oil , ok to rub on wood I suppose
They've paid his price for the stitch up of the SNP motion on Gaza now then
Total berk-out
That another one of those Commons traditions is it?
Correct.
Only now asking why speaker of the house isnt appointed to a civil servant who is unbiased? Surely it seems mad to appoint an MP who has a constituency to represent. Dont know why I'm thinking logically, there isnt anything logical about parliament.
Yea, I never understood this... The speaker can't debate of vote and is meant to be natural... But their constituency voted them in to represent them in parliament associated to a specific party.
I don't like how he didn't call Farage out for insulting his predecessor. Also, whats with this mother and father of the house? Is this politics or playing family?
Those are (mostly) ceremonial titles held by the MP with the longest period of uninterrupted service.
Technically, there's a tie for longest period of service (with several serving MPs who have been serving since the 1983 general election), but Edward Leigh (the current title-holder) was sworn in first.
