    I'm pretty sure that the "sniper rifle" name is added when you have a scope and long barrel. You can have a .50 caliber hunting rifle if you mod it specifically.
    I also think the cat merchant is kinda sad. The house, and the fact that he marks the graves, shows that he cares about the cats and is probably doing what he is doing out of desperation.

    • @zaggrukk8644
      @zaggrukk8644 7 років тому +5

      Yes, upgrading hunting rifles with scopes and barrels does change the name to sniper rifle. Oxhorn should have known that!

    If Bethesda likes Edgar Allen Poe so much the next game should be set in Richmond, Virginia since that is where his house is. Also they can do stuff with the factions. There can be civil war style faction, since Richmond, and Petersburg was the site for the last battles of the war, and there are many historical buildings there, like the Altria theater, better known as "The Mosque" due to its style of architecture. Hollywood Cemetery, Byrd Theater, the Nickel Bridge, Monument Avenue, strange things also exist under Richmond, also the Grey Tortoise cigarette factory can be there since Richmond is the site of Philip Morris Cigarette factory. I would love to have a Fallout game set in Richmond. Do it Bethesda please.

    • @oaksparoakspar3144
      @oaksparoakspar3144 7 років тому +9

      Could be okay, but a little on the small side for a Fallout game and very close to DC comparatively.
      Also consider how much they squandered Salem and all that could have been.
      If you want Civil War vibes, Charleston would be the city to do (and you can even get some Poe from "The Gold Bug" that is set there).
      New Orleans still seems like the richest option left in the US that is not redoing something or coming up with a way to explain New York suddenly being accessible.

    • @louisbrody582
      @louisbrody582 7 років тому +3

      CenturionMBT24 I don't know man I mean i really like FO4 for its cities and multiple places to discover but it would be cool if in the fallout universe Some relativly small city in our universe got hella huge or something so it's basically a whole new place to explore

    • @oaksparoakspar3144
      @oaksparoakspar3144 7 років тому +4

      The problem with someplace small in our timeline getting huge in the Fallout timeline is that it would remove the connections to our world and timeline that make Fallout's world so compelling.
      Walden Pond, that you literally walk the road from Concord down to Lexington with the minutemen, all the historic stuff in Boston - the game is drowning in it all.
      You can even go pull up a map of Boston and you will find yourself matching names to cites all over Fallout 4 you never would have believed are actually there. (The game is likely doubly fun for people from Boston).
      ________________
      An all-new place would lack those connections to our shared history and known places. That is why you will always see Fallout games tied to well-known cities, particularly those with lots of well known history and interesting architectural features.
      That is why DC, Vegas, and Boston were such great choices.
      DC has tons of history and the most iconic structures in the nation.
      Vegas has far less history, but made up for it in charm with a few key structures (the Strip and Hoover Dam).
      Boston has the richest history, if fewer well-known landmark buildings.
      That is one of the reasons New Orleans has gotten so much traction in speculation - it is a historic city with well known features and a distinct culture.
      If you were looking for other cities that could do it, there are a few - though LA, San Fran, and Chicago would retcon the early games and New York would need an explanation for why everyone though it was a lifeless wasteland of total destruction.
      New Orleans, Atlanta, Orlando, Charleston, and Seattle all seem like things you could do - as they all have iconic sights and plenty of history or unique culture.
      St. Louis, Austin, Memphis, and Philly could also work though they would be a reach (Philly just because it thematically overlaps with Boston).

    • @centurionmbt2487
      @centurionmbt2487 7 років тому +2

      Ok yeah Richmond isn't the largest city, and it's not as well known. It does have nice architecture and a unique layout, (the fan). But also the tri-cities to the south of Richmond can be included (if Peterburg is there you can have the crater battlefield and Ft. Lee) Richmond might not be as large or as iconic as Boston but if they did it it would be closer to its actual size because I'm sure they shrunk the square mileage of Boston for the game. I'm not a big fan of New Orleans so I would prefer St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta or Miami. New York would be amazing but could they do it justice I don't know. Also I'm a Virginian so a Fallout in Richmond would be a dream come true.

      Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
      Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
      While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
      As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
      `'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
      Only this, and nothing more.'
      Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
      And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
      Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
      From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
      For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore -
      Nameless here for evermore.
      And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
      Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
      So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
      `'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
      Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -
      This it is, and nothing more,'
      Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
      `Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
      But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
      And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
      That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -
      Darkness there, and nothing more.
      Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
      Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
      But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
      And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'
      This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'
      Merely this and nothing more.
      Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
      Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
      `Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
      Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
      Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
      'Tis the wind and nothing more!'
      Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
      In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
      Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
      But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
      Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
      Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
      Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
      By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
      `Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
      Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
      Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
      Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
      Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
      Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
      For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
      Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
      Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
      With such name as `Nevermore.'
      But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
      That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
      Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
      Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
      On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
      Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'
      Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
      `Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,
      Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
      Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
      Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
      Of "Never-nevermore."'
      But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,
      Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
      Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
      Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
      What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
      Meant in croaking `Nevermore.'
      This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
      To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
      This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
      On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
      But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,
      She shall press, ah, nevermore!
      Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
      Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
      `Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
      Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
      Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
      Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
      `Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil! -
      Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
      Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -
      On this home by horror haunted - tell me truly, I implore -
      Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!'
      Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
      `Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
      By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore -
      Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
      It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore -
      Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels name Lenore?'
      Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
      `Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -
      `Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
      Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
      Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!
      Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'
      Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
      And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
      On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
      And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
      And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
      And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
      Shall be lifted - nevermore!

    I have had an interest in Walden Pond from an early age, due to people getting my name confused with Walden. It seems this is somehow a more natural ordering of sounds for the tongue than Wadlin is, and so this mistaken name has followed me throughout my 65 years. I tried to read "Walden" and found it a difficult slog. I liked a lot of the self reliant stuff, but also found much of it silly. Give me Poe's writing and philosophy anytime.
    I usually catch Walden Pond on my way to Sunshine Co-op, which is assigned to me by Preston or The Railroad (PAM?) fairly early.
    Most of my characters have high sneak and I get my lockpick skills up pretty early. I don't care for power armor due to the way it changes the interface (though Gopher has a mod that fixes that), and the added difficulty to sneak. I don't use drugs at all normally, with the exception of Grape(?) Mentats when I absolutely need the charisma.

    Man. It's dialogue like that that kind of makes me feel bad for the raiders. Like, there's definitely this aspect, at least with the lower ranking mooks, where they were brought up into this mess from children, and really aren't aware that viable alternative lifestyles exist. Not that that makes them good people or anything. Just that I feel bad for how their lives turned out.

    19:07 the miners at sloan actually mention using draglines (pre-war "cranes") to move or relocate rocks at Quarry Junction, and according to Chomps Lewis they still use draglines, but since they're pre-war they have to "give them a couple of whacks" to keep them working, or something along those lines

    To change the topic of this video real fast, I kind of wished they made the Winter Jacket & Jeans capable of being upgraded with Ballistic Weave, probably my favorite of the more casual of clothing available in Fallout 4, especially that it's a winter jacket over a flannel shirt, could have served as great armor/clothing for a hunter/survivalist build; alas, you can only have higher damage resistance via leg armor and the perks that increase your ballistic and energy resistance. Nonetheless it's one of my favorite clothing cause like I said it's a goddamn jacket. If anyone knows of any jacket-like clothing in Fallout 4, please tell me, would love to get it.

It may be not as interesting as some vaults lore but still such thing as magic book in post apocalyptic world is quite rare and unique

When she died, the cats ate her and it’s her bones in the doghouse. Later, the trader came along an turned the shack and surviving cats into a sustainable meat farm.

    Ox, I have gotten this quest at early level, the target was a 10mm and it had higher tier mods, giving me a very powerful pistol for early game. The weapon is generated when you either loot or read the note based on your level. In my current game I got this quest pointing me to the South Boston Military Checkpoint. By the time I went there the laser rifle in the quest was weak but I walked away with a full suit of X-01 power armor. I actually stopped there on my way to Vault 88, and the armor was very useful in clearing the Quincy Quarry and in clearing and activating all workshops in the vault.

    About Thoreau. He didn't really stay out in a cabin on his own for 2 years. He lived near town and often had dinner with friends. At one point he was arrested for... something and spent a night in jail. Emmerson was more into trancendentalism than Thoreau and got Thoreau into it to really help it take off (he mentored Thoreau and saw a potential philosopher). While he did patch clothes and grow beans, he was hardly solely self-reliant or isolated.

    At 27:32, under that raider base on the highway, if you go underneath the on-ramp part, you'll find another fixed location for random encounters. I ran into the Man and his daughter (the Road reference) there. There's actually two parts to that location. The random encounter occurs on the side of the on ramp, with characters leaning on the wall. The other part, which can trigger another encounter is between the on-ramps' embankment and the fallen portion of the highway. There is a fire place and a duffle bag, unrelated to the other encounter.

    Just as an FYI, the Stingwing set off the mine because the models for flying creatures is technically something along the lines of a regular human actor with a Stingwing on it's head. It's the same reason Ed-e is so clumsy. Typically they just give the creatures that fly the 'light step' perk, or just code the actor to have the equivalent ability to prevent them from setting off traps.
