Richie doesn't seem to age. He's still a monster singer, song writer and guitar player. My current favorite musician by a long-shot.

There are some chosen ones, a few artists that just channel music, the melodies ooze out of them, they breath it, taste it, live in it. Paul McCartney and Richie Kotzen are examples of that rare talent.

Geez, RK’s a great talent! Been looking at the piezo Black Angel to stick in my Taylor GS. I like the fact that it sounds good & that I don’t have to take a drill to my guitar or file the bridge saddle down. Great design guys 👍👍

the Black Angel Piezo dp235 has a 3.55 input jack for the Black Angel dp234 magnetic directly attached to the endpin it comes with so you can connect it directly to the sound hole Black Angel pickup.
You just have one output but it is TRS stereo. A regular guitar cable will just pick up the piezo pickup but if you split the trs into 2 mono signals you can have both the piezo and magnetic coming out so you can preamp them on a mixer.
So I have to drill two holes to use the soundhole + piezo? Any way to use them at the same time with only one jack?
@@latinrockfusionfreak I have been looking everywhere to find how to install both pickups. This explains the bridge pickup connects to the sound hole pickup then runs out in stereo. so if you use mono cable you only get the bridge piezo, but if you make or buy a cable that splits to two mono cables from a stereo TRS you can have both pickups. You don`t have to drill two holes. The end jack is stereo.
Hi Larry! Nice pickups! I just wonder if Richie's condenser mic for the vocals is somehow getting the acoustic sound of the guitar. Otherwise great sound!
Hi, Thanks for the compliment, I worked hard on both that guitar and the electronics. Yes your right, there is some bleed from the acoustic guitar into the Neumann style voice mic. Adding the piezo and magnet into the mix gives you a much bigger and more controllable acoustic guitar sound than using one or multiple microphones. Hope that helps, Larry DiMarzio

This pickup setup looks nice. Sounds good in the demo. Dimarzio makes great pickups.
This installation looks very difficult though. How does it compare lets say a complete rewire, new electronics and pickup change on a Les Paul style guitar?
Probably similar as far as difficulty? But a whole new set of techniques would have to be learned.
Hi, Installing any piezo pickup (K&K, Fishman, etc) is a bit complicated because of the 1/4" phone output jack.
I suggest going to pro if you don't feel confident. Once the piezo is installed our magnet is very easy to add since the new Black Angel piezo include the extra 1/8" connector for stereo out. Hope that helps,

I've 4 pickups in my Gibson J100 and hated all of them. I put this same DiMarzio system in a few months ago and it's killer. It sounds like a mic'ed guitar.

@@LarryDiMarzio Greetings Larry! I hope you're well! I wonder if I can install both the piezo + the soundhole pickup and get them to go together on just one hole (output jack) or if I have to drill two holes for each of them. The soundhole version is on the way here, but I wonder if I could install piezo + soundhole at the same time and plug in one cable and be good to go. I'm replacing a "famous preamp" recommended by my guitar seller, but I should have gone with my original Black Angel plans from the beginning. Please let me know!

The guitar looks quality Larry. Love the vintage vibe the burst gives it. Just the right shade of honey, tea burst and it sounds great, very natural sounding with that pickup system. Richie did it justice as usual.

Very cool, I thought it had a southern jumbo look to it. Brazilian rw with Adirondack is a killer combo. Must have been a blast to build. Time well spent building a family heirloom with a sweet tone that will only get better in years to come. Thanks for sharing and having Richie use it in this demo.
