Thanks for such a GOOD video! Nothing was more overwhelming than going to Joanns and needing interfacing and not having a clue what I needed or WHY. When I asked an assistant, they had no clue either, so i bought several and did several experiments on my own! But this was so helpful for my bags. I am venturing into leather bags in my shop. I now do furniture refinishing and upholstery so I guess its a natural progression…lol ..Again, thanks I love watching your videos all the time!

ikr? you'd think working in a fabric shop they'd have some clue, but the assistants are often useless, and you end up buying expensive crap you don't need as it doesnt suit the project. im doing the same project with leather quilting, so im glad I found this vid..

great news! Yes, you can apply interfacing to leather on a heat press. I started out low temp, around 250, and experimented from there. The time I kept very short when I was testing too. If I thought the heat was too much I would lay a flour bag towel on the mat as well as the plate side. I came out great. Another thing to keep in mind is the type of interfacing you're using. The thicker the interfacing you would want to add more time.

Another thing that helps with interfacing is that you should wait until it's completely cooled down before you use it or manipulate it. While it's warm, you can still peel it off the fabric or vinyl but when it's cooled down, the adhesive is no longer pliable and so will stay in place.

I was having a heck of a time with 809 with my regular iron. I have a Cricut Easy Press that works great for fusing it but I didn’t want to always get it down bc I have the large size one. But I did notice after I fused the 809 then set it aside to “cool”, it fused a lot better. It was almost like the heat was melting the glue (lol obviously) and after I let it cool down the glue was able to set & stick. Idk if that will help anyone but it’s worth a shot. I know it sounds like common sense that the glue melts and needs to cool to set. But it’s not like Decovil Light or Woven Fuse where the glue sticks right away.

I am all the way over here in crap-ville, Austrealia, hopefully I can still find these different backings online. ❤👝

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I haven’t used Decovil yet but I was wondering what I would use it for because of the texture and thickness of it - light and heavy. So now I have an idea lol!
I’m starting to like vilene interfacings and stabilisers more these days.. I love the g700. It makes fabric feel so much more expensive.
Anyway, thanks again for the video. Bless up ❤️💋

Finally got my first order of Decovil Light and I've never been so excited to open a package of interfacing! Had to order directly from Germany because there seems to be a shortage in the states but I think it will be well worth it. Apparently Pellon 520 is also Decovil Light and 525 is Heavy but I wonder if it's the same quality as Vliesene's. As soon as I use up my bolt of SF, I'll be ordering Woven Fuse and (hopefully more Decovil) from Barb's Bags. Thanks for all the tips!
