    Great job! Thanks so much. You just saved me $30 bucks! Local shop in Austin TX charged me this last time. This time, I'm not playing that :)

    Chris, this simplest of your videos spurs the most questions from me! Is that gel superglue? I think acetone will clean up superglue and wonder if acetone would hurt that metal dial's black legends and artwork? Lastly, as for the silver color metal part, is that a real noble metal silver surface or just a steel/aluminum metal ? I have a clock face that somebody gooed up replacing loose numerals and need to remove and reapply them.

      I would not use acetone on the dial. It is superglue and I don’t know a way to remove it without damaging the dial

      Thanks Ahmed. That sounds like a good video to do, but honestly I don’t have experience doing that. So it will not be anytime soon that I put together a video like that.

      Timesavers has a couple styles to choose from. I don’t recall if that’s where these came from or not.

    Hello! Where can I buy the numbers your using? Mine are identical. I went to move the weights today and noticed my 10 is missing the 0. No where in sight and checking online I have not found the right size. Thank you chris!

    Chris, I have an old Black Forest Cucu Clock that was passed down to me and I want to purchase a new movement for it. How do I determine what movement i have (1 day or 8 day).

    • @Chrisclockrepair
      @Chrisclockrepair  6 місяців тому

      8 day has larger weights usually. They will likely be 1250 grams or more

    Can you show how to make the chime tones on a tubular grandfather clock sound louder. The strike is loud enough but not the chimes. Has 5 tubes for chiming and striking. Thanks.

      You can try adjusting the tension on the lines that hold the hammers.

    Nice Chris thank you! Can you do a video on fixing scratches etc on wooden cases? Clocks seem to pick up chips and scratches. Also I have an Ansonia marble clock with paper dial. The inner chapter ring rather than being gold has gone green. What is the best way to repair/ replace these dials.

    • @Chrisclockrepair
      @Chrisclockrepair  2 роки тому

      Hey Jake. I don’t do a whole lot with the cases. I leave that up to the woodworkers. I usually will farm that kind of work out if it needs to be done. I stick to the clocks!

    Chris, I have a question. I have this same clock. I am going to customize the art on the moon phase sawblade dial. Can I remove the moon dial without removing the whole face? I see the nut on the front of the face that holds it on, but I don't want to mess with it unless I know for sure that I can put it back on successfully. I don't want to have to mess with the whole face, so if I can take off the dial alone, that would make it much easier... I think.

    • @Chrisclockrepair
      @Chrisclockrepair  Рік тому

      Yes, the moon dial is removable, but you should remove dial first.

    Hi Chris, thanks for your videos. I am looking at making wooden pendulum/bob for Hermle 461 clock. Help: any advice/specs will help.

    • @Chrisclockrepair
      @Chrisclockrepair  2 роки тому

      The effective length is normally stamped on the back of the movement.

    • @Chrisclockrepair
      @Chrisclockrepair  2 роки тому

      But realize that the effective length is from the center of mass of the bob pendulum assembly to the suspension post. Err on the side of too long as you can always shorten, but difficult to lengthen.
