- From the JUDY TAKES BROADWAY sessions recorded live at the Manhattan Center on April 26, 1962. Featuring arrangements by, and orchestra conducted by, Mort Lindsey. The album wasn't released until 1989. Here is an outtake and two false starts of Hey Look Me Over from Wildcat. BTW Judy gives a shout out to Lucille Ball.

I had a CD with Ms. Garland missing the intro, but it did not have the "plate/cup" error. My God, even when she goofs she is a treasure. Thanks for this.

I don't know why they didn't just record the stereo orchestrations, later that night, without Judy, and without the audience. I know it would end up being a "studio" album. And I've heard about the aborted later recording sessions, one around the time of JFK's death. But she could have recorded the vocals while doing the television show, mixing the previous orchestra, with her voice. Easy. And still in stereo. Judy ended up singing most of the songs from this "album" on the CBS show, albeit in mono. And Mort Lindsey's orchestrations through several keys - BRILLIANT ! Who's clapping? Sounds bigger than just a recording crew.
It was a "live" recording session - in front of an invited theatre audience. The album was intended to follow Judy at Carnegie Hall and to be titled Judy Takes Broadway.
Many of us were there. Judy had invited us.

@@ah7910 Judy often would invite the members of the fan club to the concerts. She adored her fans and often went out for coffee with us after a show. This night was electric but then they all were. It was always a party. So many memories and so few of us left. Lots of laughter that night. Judy was in great spirits. Her humor kept us going for hours.
It was live in New York...an "outtake" does not mean it was done in a studio.
