Hello James and rikki iam sighted and hearing from australia and but I have a scoliosis a curved spine which i have just had surgery to fix it I have a friend who is legally blind and now she is losing hearing and has a hearing aid
SoulSearcher MusicSavedMyLife hi my name is Jordan and I would like for you to describe to my channel because I think we will get on and I like James and Ricky I think they're great people
Could I add something here about the tactile ASL Rikki was talking about? It’s more than just having your hand on someone else’s. I’m DeafBlind and I use something called ProTactile ASL which incorporates haptics and various other things. This is a great video and thank you for captioning!
James I like how you try to make this video accessible for Ricky even though she's deaf you try to make it accessible as possible and I like about you you're a good friend to her
For Deafblind people, their modes of communication will vary depending on how deaf and how blind they are, plus what has been their primary language their whole life. I've worked with Deafblind people who are Deaf people who are losing their vision, and you can sign normally, but you gotta be closer than normal and use a small signing space. I've also worked with Deafblind people with no usable vision, and that is more challenging. For them, we used normal sign language, but it had to be a lot slower, since they're feeling your signs. There's also more dependency on English, since many visual/spatial concepts (like motion verbs) can't be expressed in tactile sign. But keep in mind that these were culturally Deaf people who were latent blind. For people who are blind then latent deaf, they usually don't use tactile sign, since they never learned sign language, and it's stupid hard to learn a visual language from scratch through tactile means. There are some out there, but they're very few and far between. Most will have a reliance on printed modes of communication, either braille or on a screen. Haben Girma, the somewhat famous Deafblind lawyer, uses braille as her primary (receptive) mode of communication. I know a lady who spent her whole life sighted and hearing until one day she had a freak medical emergency that left her Deafblind and with no feeling in most of her body. The only way anyone could communicate with her for a few months was to draw letters on her cheek.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I just posted something about ProTactile in the comments on here. I’m wondering if I can reach out in some way. Anyway, thank you again!
I'm very curious as to know how a love life would conspire between a deaf and blind person. Im guessing he's the blind one, or I'm not paying attention. I guess my real question is if a blind and deaf individual were to attract the attention of someone that was attracted to them, how would they know if they have an equal attraction. My theory is it would be the perfect relationship. Considering the obvious. I'm trying to zero in on possible scenarios but my adhd mind has me allover with this one. Is there anyone with a skill of explaining things to dummies like me? This really does have my complete attention. Any Intel is welcomed. Kthanksluvubye.
i do not get it. How can you play a game with out screen reader supor or a voice that is your guide? Audio games have an advanced sound design so you can play well but the video games that relay on grafics hpw will you play them? I want to play the old republic game how will a begin?
