@@mariannadilorenzo6011 *Rebecca Ferguson*, the actress you saw singing in the video, has a background in music but she felt that she didn't have the necessary experience to sing for her role. @@sarahgracey8657 Rebecca Ferguson didn’t sing in Never Enough. They had a different singer, Loren Allred, go into a recording studio and record herself singing Never Enough then they used the recording of Loren Allred singing in the movie instead of having Rebecca sing it.
Yes ! I felt the same way. It blew me away when I discovered it wasn't her voice. She truly imagined herself singing it as if she really was and it shows. Rebecca Ferguson is an incredible actress and highly underrated. Loren Allred is the singer and with such a gorgeous, stunning voice. Her singing carreer should have taken off more than it has. Both didn't get much recognition for their phenominal performances in my opinion. What they pulled off to create this scene together was extraordinary and one of a kind.
"This is me" must have been nominated because it is a really strong inspirational song with a very beautiful meaning , but this also deserved a nomination
The song itself is more amazing than all of that silent acting. The acting in the scene just enhanced the song. Actually the soundtrack for the film was an even bigger success than the film. The soundtrack for "Greatest Showman" went platinum only 3 months after the release of the movie in the theaters and was the best-selling album of 2018. That's very rare for a film soundtrack to be the best-selling album of the year.
I can't believe that she is NOT the singer. I mean look at her energy man. She deserves an award for this performance. And I can't stop listening this incredible song. I listen to it atleast twice a day. edit: And I can't believe after two years how many of you are come to hear this. thinking about the likes i got.
she sang it but they recorded this version with another singer and the actress said to use this one because it sounded better. Now i think this is very modest! But anyway it looks so much like she is singing is because she was at that moment.
acting like you're singing like she's doing here is actually so so so hard. you have to imitate the vowels the original singer uses and facial positions and expressions too, hats off to her!
She did an extraordinary job! I so agree for what she did is so much harder! The “feeling” & incredible acting she did singing this & looking at Barnum was so touching! What an actress she is’! Loved her in this movie!
She's a great actress, made us all convinced that she's doing the actual singing. But boy... Loren Allred deserves the spotlight!!! She deserves more than just Britain's Got Talent audition. She should be in actual theatres performing!
@@AllIAm1 No one's thinking of her as 'just a wedding singer' (and wedding singers are talented people. They deserve all the applauses and praises too). I've seen a lot of her on-stage performance videos too prior to BGT. She may have toured with DF, but it still didn't get her enough of the attention her talent truly deserves. @@toeveryonesdilbut Rebecca is singing here. That’s why it looks so real. She had to learn this song to act it then Loren recorded over that’s why it’s a different to when Loren performs it live

Its sad that real singer doesn't get enough attention :'( she deserves more credit and support. She's a lovely women that stole my heart by her voice and smile. Loren Allred.
@Demyah Charles - Do some simple research. Rebecca Ferguson was NOT lip syncing. She is a capable singer, just not a professional. It was in her contract that she would fully be singing with the orchestra for the filming. NO Sound is ever captured at that time, if you know anything how movies are made and produced. ( its called Sound Editing) Loren Allred singing/voice for this song was edited in, her singing to match Rebecca Fergusons acting on film.
It's really interesting that nobody has mentioned Hugh Jackman's unbelievable performance in the scene. He just made me feel his goosebumps with his act. What a magic man... DOPE
As someone who acts and isn't a troll on the internet like the two other replies. I totally agree!!!! Hugh Jackman's facial expressions on especially the look in his eyes carries this scene by far. He directed me how to feel and took my emotions of awe and shock to the next level.
This still gets me. Rebecca Ferguson is such an incredible actress and Loren Allred voice is damn powerful and convincing. Which makes this song unforgettable! 🥹😭
I was watching Britain’s got talent earlier only to find out it wasn’t the actress singing this song, and my jaw dropped, Loren was absolutely amazing, I cried listening to her singing, and then getting the golden buzzer! She finally got the recognition she deserves 🥰
The fact that she was acting and not really singing, shows the true quality of her being an actress. The way she showed the emotion for this scene was phenomenal and it brings "never enough" becomes a phenomenal song. I salute them both, the real singer and the actress. Both of you are amazing!

I lost my brother in a car crash a couple years ago, and there’s a lot of songs that transport me back to the time I was grieving. And just as w/ user-vl6dc2mc8h, God helped me through it. So beautiful it almost scares you - you put words to my feeling of awe and amazement at the beautiful and powerful performance from both actress and singer.
It falls in line with Hugh’s character that he would fall in love with this performance when the lyrics expresses his love for showmanship trumped by love of another person
This broke me down. I could feel it in the powerful voice of Loren, in the expressions by Rebecca, and the phenomenal music. And did I mention Hugh? He was that push that did me over. I am now crying like a baby. This is an absolute masterpiece of an ensemble.
Watched Loren's audition before watching the greatest showman. I think the actress translated the song in body language perfectly. Overall, a combination of great acting + a heavenly voice is what we love about this masterpiece.
@Vahn Williams yes without the scene and her perfect acting, the song would just be a nice song and probably would not have gotten so popular and well known as it did to get my attention!

Yes, the wife was worried she would lose him to the SHOW. And when he finally opens his eyes, his family would have been nothing more than a dream gone by. Luckily, this has a happy ending.
One of the very few scenes in a movie that i would say is perfect, Her voice (Loren), Her acting is so believeable. The way Hugh looks at her sells it 1000%, the way his mrs looks at him looking at her.... captures everything, Zak and zedaya scene adds that (never enough) to it perfectly.... i love this song, and this scene. amazing.
It's as Simon Cowell said in BGT, this is one of the greatest vocals of all time. So much so that both the actress who lip-synced it and the singer who actually sang it earned accolades for all the emotion they poured into the song. This is easily the top song on the Greatest Showman 😀
@@seraphim3528 Because that is the bench mark for how good something is for you, right? As long as *you* can't do it. You're watching a music talent show where the main judge doesn't even sing himself, get some perspective.
Best subtle moments of acting: Zendaya's little gasp at Zach taking her hand (heart leap of love) Michelle's look when she sees Hugh is falling in love (a breaking heart).
Hugh wasn't falling in love, was he? It was greed bec the artist he launched is hella talented. I think he did a great job in throwing the audience off with that expression
@@mevish7931 No he wasn't meant to be falling in love- I think later in the movie she says she knew that. But the song and his expression kind of compounded what she knew for a while; It's never enough for him. She and their family aren't enough. He became obsessed with money and fame, defying his poor youth and proving her parents wrong. At this point she feels he's not in love with either of them, just the fame. He is no longer the man she defied her parents to marry, no longer the boy she loved.
Your all saying he was falling in love with the money, and her both wrong Btw, look at what the character did and take the romance out of it, of course you can fall in love with your friends Btw, it doesn't have to be romantically, she was also his friend, he didnt love her romantically actually but it shows you can love the people you work with, there's So many themes in The greatest show man that saying he fell in love with her whilst his wife is right there is insulting and weird, your all thinking to blindly about how this show potrays love, watch Violet Evergarden and teach yourself the many ways someone can love someone, it doesn't have to always be romantic. Hed fell in love with the work she produced and the wife is looking on cause she can see what he had produced.
I swear this is one of the BEST moments in any movie ever to exist in the history of everything. I get chills every time and seeing this scene for the first time I DIED. GONE. DECEASED.
I’ll never forget my first ever time watching this scene and experiencing this song. I was in a packed cinema in 2018 and my body honestly froze just like Hugh Jackman’s in the movie. The scene is a masterpiece, the song made time stand still for me it’s unbelievable. A fond memory I’ll never forget. Goosebumps every time I go back and watch it ❤️
I just love how Rebecca makes it look like she's singing and how she expresses the lyrics with her face. Loren's voice is so powerful and beautiful. This became my favorite movie just when I watched it and it still is.
Just saw it for the first time today my girlfriend is a cheer coach using a song from the soundtrack we are both high school Musical fans this movie was a perfect watch
Cynthia was Elphoba! She played that part with such grace and class. This movie was spectacular!! And when that cape was tied around her neck that, sealed it!!
I am still at awe at this masterpiece. The actress and the singer may have lip-synced but the fact that you can see the actress do her best and give out all her emotions just shows how much she loved every part of her role doing just that.
What I love most about this song is how it can be interpreted in two different ways. On one hand, for her, fame wasn’t enough. She wanted love...specifically from him. And for him, no matter how much fame and fortune he acquired, it was never enough. He was always striving for more until finally he lost everything. I know a lot of people hated the part where the camera panned to him, and he stared at her in awe while she sang. That was honestly one of my favorite parts in the movie. Because it showed how while she was falling in love with him, he was falling in love with her talent, because ultimately her talent would be the thing that brought him greater fortune. There was some degree of betrayal towards his family being shown there, but not exactly for the reason that it appears. I also believe that subconsciously the song must have resonated with him, but for a completely different reason than it did her. Both of them exhibited selfishness for the things they wanted, and their pride clouded their judgment in the end, potentially ruining the lives of those around them. It’s a powerful concept, really. There were so many significant parts in this scene, you really have to watch it a dozen times to see it all. Of course the real story happened nothing like this, but I’m glad this rendition remained wholesome and inspirational throughout. Awesome scene. Impeccable movie.

She is actually singing, they just dubbed over her voice post-production with that of the rather glorious Loren Allred. On set the crowd of extras could hear the actress's voice and it looks just like real singing because it is. In the finished film we _see_ her real singing but _hear_ Loren's voice. The editors did an extraordinarily good job!
I think not only this song is perfect but all the acting in the video as well. It is a cinematic masterpiece taking us back to the silent movies. The more often you look at it, the more little jewels of perfect acting you will find. From body language and eyes up to breathing and swallowing it tells a multifaceted story in a way we don't see that often any more. I can watch this over and over again without getting bored. Perfection.
Props to all the actors. There is not a single word spoken in the whole scene besides the song and nobody moves too much. All you have is their expressions and it's enough to tell you exactly what's going on and how these characters feel. Amazing talent.
The first time i watched this scene in the cinema i could hardly breathe, amazing acting, vocals, so much going on. I started to see Zac Efron as a serious actor in the second Zedaya walked away.

Probably cause the actress didn’t sing this one herself but this is me was actually sung by the cast.

Even if you haven’t seen this movie, there is so much unspoken “dialog” in this scene. It is amazing.

And the way she presents herself on stage is very professional. She deserves that spotlight in any way. Her talent could speak for it. I hope she really gets it. And @Coolyoghurt22, I feel your pain. I wish there was something I could say… to lose a loved one can be so incredibly painful. I lost my brother in a car crash a couple years ago, and there’s a lot of songs that transport me back to the time I was grieving. And just as w/ user-vl6dc2mc8h, God helped me through it. When I had reached my end, I called on Jesus and I surrendered my life to him out of desperation and he helped me through it and is helping guide me through life today.
I don't think Hugh was falling in love with her. He was falling in love with the dollar signs that he was seeing because of her.
She’s the right face for the voice… but the lyrics is kinda weird…

@@ellenhartman5787 yes ik but i guess she doesnt😂😂
That fact that she isn't actually singing and her expressions are so good makes me feel goosebumps every time I see her face. 🤗
May I know please who really sang that song
@@annkavumamusic1 Loren Allred
She is actually singing, they just dubbed over her voice post-production with that of the rather glorious Loren Allred. On set the crowd of extras could hear the actress's voice and it looks just like real singing because it is. In the finished film we _see_ her real singing but _hear_ Loren's voice. The editors did an extraordinarily good job!

My heart broke for his wife in this scene. It's all so well acted. Favorite musical by far. ❤
Perfection.
From the moment she sang “all the shine from a thousand spotlights” I got full body chills everytime
Same , I skip the first part
Me tooooo
Every damn time
Props to Rebecca for being classy, giving Loren her moment and never trying to take credit. What a team player❤
Props to all the actors. There is not a single word spoken in the whole scene besides the song and nobody moves too much. All you have is their expressions and it's enough to tell you exactly what's going on and how these characters feel. Amazing talent.
Amen! I watch this movie about 4 times a year
The first time i watched this scene in the cinema i could hardly breathe, amazing acting, vocals, so much going on.
I started to see Zac Efron as a serious actor in the second Zedaya walked away.
Loren Allred's song is sung beautifully by herself of course, but I still love this dubbed version. The acting here is perfect.
This is crazzzyyyy I thought she is the real singer but after watching the Britain's got talent seeing the real singer of this song, I'm very impressed to the both of them!

I agree
You need to listen to her live performance with David Foster from a few years ago. It was even better than the Britain's Got Talent performance.
Me too :)
Yes rebecca is best actressand lauren is best singer both are best artist ever
The moment Charity catches Barnum looking at the singer, her facial expression says it all, there's no need for words

Your bad yuong girl
WHY IS NOBODY ON ABOUT THE LOOK AT 3:00-3:05 her looks Is heart wrenching , when she comes to the realisation that she will never be enough for the one person that completes her own world.

Wow I’m surprised how many like I got.
It’s Hannia thank you. I’m very dramatic so I have a poetic side
iiAngelaCupcake. The song is about how nothing is enough and the showmen seems to represent that because he had a successful circus but then employed this singer. The look was heartbroken because she loves him so much but he wants to constantly become rich/ more famous etc...
He doesn’t love the singer he just is never satisfied with success.
Ok
The singer nailed the song but she nailed the acting too, “Masterpiece” ❤
