They never 'officially' broke up. This video is awful, especially with the mis-pronunciation of the girls names.
My understanding is that it was a mutual breakup meaning that when they sensed that there was no more excitement in the group then it would be time to call it quits.
Greg Kisinger It was not a breakup. Agnetha stated in a 1983 interview that they simply stopped and had not decided when or if they might resume. It was not an official split. The video is wrong.

Well, they had to; otherwise they would have been FABB or BABF or BAFB. Doesn’t have the same ring. As it was, Abba was the name of a fish cannery and they needed permission to use the name.

So very sorry ABBA and the relationships dissolved. It happens to man y couples in the world but ABBA's early music showed the loved they felt for one another - Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni. After their relationships dissolved so did the group. I feel sorrow for the divorce of these four people that brought the world so much joy. However after 40-years after ABBA has split their music still lives even stronger than before
Abba is still just as alive today as they were in their prime,my favorite group is led zeppelin but i love abba and listen to them on a regular basis.

Wow. So many mistakes here. The Anni-Frid -Alan West 'affair' was a non-story from the start and it's sad to see it regurgitated. The paper that broke the story even admitted that his alleged affair with an unknown woman started years before he'd even met Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The paper simply dragged her name into it to 'juice up' the story. The two ladies in ABBA suffered this kind of thing all the time during the bands heyday so no wonder they both withdrew from public life for so many years.
Yes it is sad. I guarantee that 99 out of 100 thinking people would do the same thing as they. Endlessly confronted with crap either printed or otherwise, masquerading as insight, new information or a hot scoop constantly in your face day in and day out. Amazing that they were able to make music at all and I really believe that weathering that slime storm as they did simply adds to their legacy.
My perception of both Anni-Frid and Agnetha is nothing but positive. The interviews of each that I have seen on You-Tube make me view them as honest, open, and wonderful women.

This review has a serious flaw. After ABBA Benny and Björn didn't just leave the music and ventured into IT business and folk music. That was a sidekick only. Music lovers know that they wrote the famous and very successful musical CHESS which was on stage all over the world. Then after, they were responsible for the musical MAMMA MIA! which became the most successful musical in history. Besides they wrote the musical Kristina, unfortunately a Swedish tragedy story, which is beyond beautiful.

The music of this group is always new to me whenever I listen to it. It is difficult to list Abba as a music of yesteryear yesteryears despite its dissolution since 1982. It seems Abba music is certainly for generation after generation.

I grew up in the 60's , and 70's, and was a rock drummer, but Abba is still one of my favorite bands. Some of the best music ever written.
