Hi! I do collect tea cups. I do not even know how many I have right now 😁. I just recently learned though what was important to look for when you buy. I used to choose whatever cup I liked. Thank you for this little presentation ☕
I plan to open a tea shop so I was looking for cups I found a guy on FB market place and purchased 17 cups and saucers for only $3 each and now the guy is going to notify me whenever he gets cups in. Just one of my tea cup is worth $170.oo. Another worth $70 and another is $56. I studied and looked them up and I cant believe how much my cups are worth. Those 17 I got for $51 are all together worth $549.oo only 1 had a chip.
Just bought my first set of antique teacups and this video (and your channel) have been very helpful. I chose me set based on a design I thought was pretty modern and didn't realize they were antique Haviland until doing some research.
Awwww thank you so much for your kindness and support. The research is so much fun (or at least I find it is). And if it has a patent on it! Woohoo! Haha so fun! I’m so dorky. 🤓 thanks for joining me. 🥰🙌💕
I have 16 tea cups and saucers from the 50's among those Royal Albert. My desire is to keep making my collection bigger. I love inviting a group of friends for tea. They just feel very enthusiastic about y tea parties.
I had a collection of tea cups for a looking time, but decided to sell them.. I sold 10 sets and a 4 cup rack for the wall, all for $80.. I was please with the sale.. I knrw about how much they were worth.. a few were about $18-$20.. Oddly enough, about 2 years later I happened upon more tea cups for sale.. one was worth $ 125, I bought the set for $3.. I still have it and about 20 more sets, most worth about $25- $45.. I have no idea if I can sell them.. so many people seem to be buying them these days..
I also love turquoise antique tea cups. I recently came upon a rare find of a Double Warrant Paragon pristine cup and saucer in the "Easter Lily". Absolutely gorgeous. Very rare turquoise. Apparently that color is quite a collectable one. I have been collecting for over 40 years , not realizing the market value at all until recently and never found one like this. I paid $1.50 for the tea cup and saucer at a thrift store. I got it home and thought I would check out if it was of any value other than my own. OMG! This cup and saucer is worth nearly $2000.00 dollars! I nearly fell out of the chair! So Into my collection I dove, to see if I had any other Paragon. I discovered another beautiful set with a floating rose and found exact cup online for $ 950.00! Insane! Now I do not know what to do? sell or keep?
Oooooooh this is so amazing! So much excitement I can feel it! Sorry for the delayed response. I think you need to figure out what means more to you (money now, or keeping) I hope that if I ever need to sell my collection that it’s an investment, but like anything, you just never know. hi Jan. love your vid. my wife is an avid collecter of bone china too but its quite a challenge trying to find one in Singapore. We found an Aynsley Cobalt blue dated 1900 and its a beauty.
Ooooh that sounds wonderful. It’s always so amazing to find them when they are even harder to find. I am wishing you both all the luck. 🙌🥰💕 thanks for being here 💕
Hi Jann, Love your video. I have a collection of 24 tea cups handed down from my family that I’m preparing to sell. Your video was very helpful on how to inspect prior to selling. Thank you!
Believe it or not I have a large collection of tea cups and yes some very nice Ansley teacups and saucers. It’s nice to see other people that collect it’s great to come across your channel . thank you for sharing
I love finding other collectors. It’s always so fun to see and talk about the collections. Have you been collecting for awhile? 🙌💕 thanks for joining me 🥰
@@TeawithJann My mom had an antique shop and I loved wandering around with her looking for items. This was back in the 80's. I started buying tea cups that caught my eye because they fit my budget and my taste in "all things china." Fast forward to now. I'm an empty nester and downsizing. I'm ready to let go of my collection and have no clue how to go about it. After watching your video, I suppose I will inspect and look at what I actually have. Thank you for the video. Facinating! Ironically, several of the cups that you had on your table look just like several in my collection. Any advice you have for me would be welcome!
Definitely check out eBay sold items (not just what’s listed) to see what things are going for. I would look at listing them on eBay, individually, if you are looking at getting some money back. If you’re looking to just quickly unload them, you could sell them as a lot to a local-to-you reseller, but you would get much less. Feel free to send me an email if you want to discuss more. 💕 collections are wonderful until you move them along. It can come with emotions too. Wishing you the best of luck 💕
Thanks for the helpful tips! I haven't had the chance to do much of my teacup buying in person but one day I will get to a thrift shop and I will practice these (especially the light review)!
Oooh yes, I’ve been about to purchase a few times and the light review really helped me spot those cracks that I couldn’t normally see or feel. I can’t wait to hear what you find! 🥰🙌
Hi I received some tea cups from a lady that passed away and they are really pretty. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on how to find out how much they are worth and how to sell them.
Ooooh that’s always interesting, I would suggest looking up on eBay or Etsy (looking at sold products) can give you a good idea. Another option is to find an appraiser and have them reviewed. Hope that helps. 🩵👏 good luck!
I have not bought my own set yet, but i do plan on convincing my parents to take me to a thrift store. It's a shame I'm so dependant on them, or else I would have had a set already!😂
Great video. This is all really good to know. I suspect once the world gets a little more back to normal I may keep my eye out for antique tea cups to add to the ones my mom gave me. Don’t know what theme to stick to yet but it’s fun to think about.

Oooooh yes, the prices can vary greatly, depending on maker, year, condition, colour, design, and rareness. I have paid as little as $2 for one of my Aynsley teacup/saucer sets and up to almost $300. It really varies. Perhaps I’ll chat about pricing in a future video. 🥰🙌 I hope you score a great one! 🙌
Hi Jann, love your video. I recently collect some tea cups, some royal grafton and some haviland. I have a question though, how to tell if a antique cup useable? Since you use them often, I think you may have some tips. Thank you.
Hello Shuo, thank you for your kindness. You definitely wouldn’t want to use any tea ware with cracks, chips, or damage to the glaze (like crazing). Some suggest not using any with paintings on the inside (where the liquid would go). Hope that helps. Take care. 💕
Was just wanting to learn more about tea cups and you definitely helped out I did not know that the cup shape would have names can you suggest a clip that has the different cup types ?

I haven't had any issues with my teacups and hot water. I use the temperature suggested for the tea type/blend that I'm making. Typically I would steep the tea in a teapot, and by the time I pour into my teacups, it's cooled down a few degrees. :) I hope that helps. Sorry for the late reply, I've been on a bit of a break. Thank you for being here. 😊
great video.. wondering if you could offer advice. i just purchased a Paragon "my valentine" tea cup and saucer. It is pretty rare and hard to find. in the description it said no chips, cracks etc... and i paid around 275$ Canadian for it. But when it came, it did have a "ding" or chip on the inside of the teacup, which i can see without any magnification needed. The seller said she didn't notice it.... and is offering me 20% off... i think this really devalues it but given its rarity, should I accept her offer or counter with something less... i am not sure how much a chip like that devalues the cup?? any thoughts?
oooh this is definitely a difficult one to ponder. With vintage and antiques, it's hard to notice everything, I hope your seller did their best, but the price point is a higher one that should have an extra look through. Sorry this happened to you. I'm not familiar with that teacup, but you could do some searching to see if it's still worth it for you. I'm sorry I'm not more helpful on this matter and I wish this didn't happen to you. Take care and I hope this doesn't stop your love for shopping online for vintage and antiques. Take care.
Yes. :) I'm more familiar with my antique Aynsley teacups, and they should match (it's the code for the pattern). It's a good way to see if a teacup and saucer have been 'married' and were not originally together, but might look good together. It's also a good way to search sites to find additional pieces to your set (if that's what you're trying to do). Sorry for the late reply - I've been on a bit of a break. Thank you so much for being here :)

I'm always scared to use them what temperature is acceptable mine has crazed!! I.e the crazy crack patterns inside. I even heard on one website it could leach lead and radiation!! How do you make sure they don't have these glazes.
Oh I don’t use any with crazing on the inside of the cup, for that reason. You could always use a lead test to be sure before using any of them. I would typically make my tea in a teapot and then pour from there, so the tea would be cooled down (definitely not boiling). Hope that helps 💕

Another great video, Jann! After our conversation on IG, I decided to start collecting tea cups with birds painted on them. I'll also buy others that strike my fancy, but my main goal/collection will go nicely with one of my life's biggest obsessions. Thanks, as always, for the videos!
Oooooooh yay!!!! I’ve wondered if you went with the bird theme. It’s so interesting. I love that you’re collection is showing off your other obsession. Brilliant idea! 🥰🙌 thanks so much for joining me and for letting me know you moved forward with the birds. Love it. 🙌
For sure! Depending on what "worth" is to you or someone else. There might be someone without a cup that has a saucer, and sometimes just the cup is beautiful on it's own. I hope you enjoy your cup :)
@@TeawithJann it is indeed I also noticed the ink design around the inner lip has sorry of a miss print which makes it even more special I think. Also THANKS FOR THE REPLY! I know your very busy. Your knowledge is higher value than any cups! Lol💓🙏

Hi Bernideen! nice to meet you, thanks for dropping by! Many people, like yourself, put the 100 year or older age on an antique, with anything less being vintage. I appreciate and use both words, they are so wonderful. Take care and have a delightful day :) Jann

What temperature is safe and enjoyable for antique cups? So you can protect cup and Tue tea
Yes. :) I'm more familiar with my antique Aynsley teacups, and they should match (it's the code for the pattern). Hello 👋 I’m not familiar with your sites available to you. Perhaps eBay? 🩵 good luck!
It could be better if you would have zoomed the bottom marks...🙂
Completely agree 🫣 hopefully next time 💕
I got a wedge wood tea cup but with no saucer.. is it worth anything?
Lol💓🙏
oooh yes, I know some people find the little imperfections or dents in a teapot (as an example) to be not great, I think we all look at things differently, and I love seeing and feeling the life something once had. I really appreciate your kindness and you being here. Wishing you the best day :) thanks! 💕
You as well!
Thank you
You're welcome
I collect only Royal Albert
Ooooh that’s a lovely choice 💕🙌
These are Venus ones.

awwww thank you so much!!!!! :D
The word "vintage" would be more accurate than "antique"!
Hi Bernideen! nice to meet you, thanks for dropping by! Many people, like yourself, put the 100 year or older age on an antique, with anything less being vintage. I appreciate and use both words, they are so wonderful. Take care and have a delightful day :) Jann
🤔
Too much talking and little else .....
Sorry to hear my videos and style are not for you. Wishing you all the best in the future and hoping you can find some people and videos that are more your style. Take care, Jann
