Halloween Kills is a masterpiece, Michael Myers is the Terminator and John Wick combined. Some of the kills are the best in the franchise. A Michael Myers dream come true
I love this movie. I don’t care what some people say about it, because for me, it was everything I’ve ever wanted out of a Halloween movie; Michael unleashed, killing anyone and anything around.
After hanging out with you guys at the bar, friday, your videos start popping up in my feed. UA-cam, stop listening to my conversations. I had a good time at Scarefest this weekend. Had a great time drinking with you. Thanks for the jello shot, whomever paid for that. I guess I'll have to watch a few of your videos now.
I love Kills. The dialog isn’t great and “Evil dies tonight” is annoying as hell, and Hall just wasn’t a good Tommy for the most part, but I love everything else about the movie. I personally enjoy the Tivoli. If you’re going to focus on mob mentality or at least have it as an aspect in a film like this, there should be a moment like that to show what can happen when that goes too far. I know a lot of people who don’t like that part because they felt targeted as this was all during COVID irl, and people felt like the movie was taking shots at them on one side or the other, but they forget, this was all shot and done before Rona was hitting. For me it’s got great kills, some great shots, and my favorite ending of the entire franchise. My ranking of the DGG trilogy, which I know will be controversial, goes: Kills, Ends, 2018. 2018 is great but it does feel very much like a somewhat typical Halloween sequel, mainly for some of the negatives you touched on in your last review. I like when shit gets a little weird and off the rails personally haha
The writing for Tommy was terrible. He shoulda been the first to take a swing in the mob scene after leading the mob and talking so much shit about taking out Michael. When it came time to fight he barely did anything, he looked stupid
Personally, its easily my third favorite Halloween movie after 1978 and 2018. People chanting "Evil dies tonight" a few times, and the 5 minute Danny Devito sideplot doesn't change that for me. I also dont think the writing is any worse than any Halloween movie that came out after the original. Im not a big fan of any Myers sequel after Halloween 2, until this new trilogy.
I could watch Halloween Kills on a loop forever and not get bored. I love it. Yes, the chanting is jejune as hell but it is nonstop brutality with a great soundtrack and I love it. Even if Karen dies, which I think is a tragic choice on the part of the filmmakers.
The direction David Gordon Green took on all 3 of these movies was ridiculous. Overall, disappointing, predictable and making “ we the audience “ to suffer. What happened to suspense, pacing, character development and originality? 1978 will never be repeated again, John Carpenter created a timeless masterpiece for generations to enjoy.
I agree with most of your review. I think the biggest thing that effected it was the time it was being made for obvious reasons and of course that really effected the decision making to what way they wanted to go. It could also have been similar to the many times we have seen movies and games go through developmental hell like Freddy vs Jason, Duke Nukem forever, Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers.and the list could go on. Instead of being held back for many years, we witnessed the issues on the final film as opposed to reading about and discussing it. I still really enjoy the film. Great review! Halloween never ends! 🎃
Halloween Kills has been one of my LEAST favorite Halloween films since it came out. Also, literally Cameron saying “he’s haunted my family for 40 years” when his father just saw him for 10 seconds in 1978. That line just stretches credulity & the reality of how trauma operates to an absurd degree. As does so many other moments. It’s shit.
I find it interesting how people still misunderstand the Tivoli storyline this far in. It goes to show how little people actually pay attention to the movies
All of the DGG bs aside I love this film! It's a blood filled gore fest with Michael Myers as the star doing what he does best fucking shit up and leaving! Tommy Doyle kicked ass in this film I really enjoy his portrayal in this movie. And I even like the cheesy Evil Dies Tonight! line. My kids and I walked out of the theater chanting the line... haha H Kills is my 3rd favorite of the franchise I can't praise it enough.
Been saying it for a minute now. DGG Halloween flicks work better when you skip Kills and just go right to Ends. It actually plays better for both Halloween 2018 and Ends.
i swear down thass what i did styll, watched 2018 at the worst fuckin place, weather and device to watch a film cah why not. watched ends in india. den came back to kills after man got back to da block and it came on netflix
For anyone interested, the Halloween and Halloween II novels are available on kindle right now. Halloween II is 5.99. I don't recall what the other price was.
Arguably the best most intimidating version of Michael Myers. For him it's a 10/10. Big John and Little John steal all the scenes they are in. Sadly when you factor in the poorly written script, lack of development for certain characters, the dark rotating room kills of the towns folk and the whole evil dies tonight seen it drags this movie down to a 7.5.
To quote Salieri's co-worker in Amadeus, this movie had "Too many notes." It had Zero focus when all it needed was One -- Michael F'ing Myers. It was about deceiving Laurie Strode, the sheriff's guilt, the town's trauma and anger, the new characters and their issues, the old characters and their issues, Allyson's issues, all with interspersed scenes of The Main Character in the past and present. DGG needed to stop trying to please everyone and stay on target like Rogue One, but crashed and burned like Porkins. And can we Never, Ever, Ever mention the word or idea of Trauma in another Halloween movie Ever Again? I'm sick of that word, that idea, and that crutch used to try to make the movie and its characters full of Artful Relevance. Halloween I and II showed Laurie Strode's and Loomis's trauma without getting too far into it. The Jamie series showed her's without making it a silent main characte. Even H2O evidenced it without making the movie about it. Everyone has trauma and I'm over the Tell instead of the Show. What happened to Show Don't Tell for movies? Some of the best, most focused scenes were cut from the movie and offered as extra scenes, such as Lonnie's encounter with Myers, which was A Great Scene. And Laurie Strode hearing Myers breathing when she called Karen. That worked. But, they were sacrificed to go all over the place instead of Focusing the story and aligning the characters accordingly, which made for an extremely disjointed movie
One thing people haven’t noticed was Karen resembles Rachel Corruthers and Allyson resembles Jamie Lloyd. At the end of the movie they showed Allyson clutching a knife almost the same way Jamie Lloyd did in H4. Those are some things they added to pay homage to H4 but nobody seemed to notice.
I don’t know if this is a Mandela Effect but I recall an interview where Halloween 2018 was supposed to be a one-off and after the box office success the studio decided to make it into a trilogy. If true, I think that’s where the mess of a plot came in because there frantically trying to extend a storyline that already ended and crank it out into 2 more movies
2018 was the only one officially planned, but I think there was talk during production that if it did well then there could be a sequel. So it wouldn't surprise me if they shot the ending in a way that they could pick it up if it did happen.
Continuity in the flash vaccine would’ve been nice some dirt and blood on the mask because at that point he had killed several people. The bullet holes were missing in the boiler suit, and if you notice the mask in the flashbacks didn’t even have the knitting needle hole in the neck like it should have.
Continuity and character development were the biggest problems with this film and don’t even get me started on Halloween ends. They promised us a golden nugget and threw a sour egg at us.
I think DGG was going for a chaotic feel, that why at times the movie feels all over the place and that's why some characters don't make the best descions because they are caught up and thinking straight, but hey I love this movie still!!
How many of u guys wanna lie and say when they have Michael all at gun point in the flashback u heard the little downward tweak to the second officer’s voice as soon as he says “Myers” at the end of him saying “that’s him, that’s Michael Myers⬇️…” …??????? Hahahah bcuz I didn’t until the second watch!!
Green thought he was “fixing” Carpenter’s Halloween II script, but Mike & Jay are right, he couldn’t decide what story to tell and Easter Egged the shit out of the movie and whatever was right about it was diluted weak sauce
Agreed. The Easter Egg method eventually was smokescreen and not homage. A sort of “look over there!” because David had no idea how to execute a promised concept or write dialogue.
LMAO !!! @ 1:58 Jay I agree 1000% with the H20 opinion...That movie gets way too much love and isnt worthy of it !! Essentially H20 is the very definition of weaksauce !
Totally agree with thumbs down on H2O. It was Dawson’s Creek garbage when it came out and it hasn’t improved with age. A lame movie by people with no understanding of what made Halloween great, and no scares, and let’s face it that title was always stupid
I really wished some of the legacy characters would have survived to see the end of Michael in 'Ends.' Some of them could have been saved for the third act, rather than being cheap kills at the end of 'Kills.'
Best parts: Michael emerging from the burning house, and his ensuing slaughter of the firefighters. It still gives me chills when I see it. Big John and Little John. I just found them very funny and sweet. Worst parts: Tommy Doyle (I love Anthony Michael Hall as an actor, but his Tommy was a moron) and the whole 'Evil Dies Tonight!' shit. And the poor mental patient wrongly targeted by the mob-how in the HELL could they think that was Michael??
There's a scene where Laurie's granddaughter holds Michael off with just one hand. I was waiting for Nick Fury to show up and recruit her for The Avengers.
People fr need to rewatch the old movies and tell me that this movie is any worse than anything from the thorn trilogy all the way to 2018. Also anyone complaining about the dog is gonna get hit in the mouth. Shut up about the dog. He is like a father to me. Also the complaint about the lack of the plot is kinda weak. I know most movies need a plot yes but let's be real we really wanted to just see Michael killing shit. The next movie (ends) has way too much plot. The movie for me is 8.5 still. Loved it.
Evil dies today.... AMH was a gimp.. so fired up to only hit him once with the bat ... kinda reminded me of the bat the wolf killed that the bartender that had the peace maker on in silver bullet.... Michael is an angel on PCP in this film....
What's up, my friends. Haven't checked in since the Halloween ends movie. In my opinion, Halloween Kills is the best of the 2018 - Ends movies. I do agree that it is all over the place, but I love the flashbacks and believe this should have been the last one. I think what you guys said about him being "beautiful" is the reason that my wife and I liked it so much. It was very artistic in the way they lit the set, and he just looked incredible. I just watched it last night for the second time. I enjoyed it the second time much more than the first.
They made Tommy Doyle such a bitch in this movie. Think about it. He ran his mouth the whole movie and was all about handling business and taking out Michael. He rounded up the mob and he was the leader. But what did he do when it was time to handle business? He sat back and let 3 or 4 other people take a swing at Michael first. He shoulda been the first one to swing, and he shoulda been taking the most swings. I agree with him getting killed, but he died with no honor. When you’re leading a mob u should be first to take a swing and putting in the most work. And he shoulda stepped in and not let Karen get close to Michael . He shoulda said “I told you to go home!” Instead of sitting back and letting her stab him while he’s looking scared. Tommy got 2 hits in on Michael then Michael easily killed him. If Tommy woulda fought with courage and gave it his all, then it woulda meant something when he died. They completely wasted that character, along with wasting all the other OG characters they brought back. And then the way they tried to explain too much in this movie and tried to relate the movie to current events, nah bruh. Yal are forgetting what made Halloween scary to begin with.
i don't know why this movie gets so much hype. It's a fun movie it's a place holder between 18 and Ends it wasn't gonna be ground breaking or take it in a new direction. It's a fun movie to sit and watch in October
This is the most fun Halloween movie imo and prefer it over Halloween (2018) especially the cinematography, atmosphere, and score. I find Kills to be the ultimate slasher
When I first saw Halloween 2018 I assumed the sequel would be about the escaped patients running around on Halloween night. Almost like an anthology film. They still did that but not in the way I expected. I wonder if Kills ending and the third one were changed because of the pandemic screwing up the production.
I think Kills is solid, was some of the dialogue corny? yeah, was the hospital story not great? yeah, and were there some plotholes like them not knowing which one was Michael? yes, regardless I still liked the movie. Michael was awesome in this, his mask and the kills were great, my favorite scene were the 1978 flashbacks, and it was great to see Loomis back and the makeup they used looked amazing. The scene when Michael attacks Sondra and her husband was a great scene and the part where Michael was making his "art" scene as Sondra was watching Michael as he was stabbing her dead husband while she was bleeding was very eerie. Another favorite scene was the firefighter scene and Michael killing the mob and Karen at the end. The score was great again by John Carpenter and Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter and also the movie has some really well shots of Michael throughout like the close up shot of him when he is about to kill tommy. This movie was also my first Halloween movie I saw in theaters which was a great watch in the theater. 2018 was Laurie's movie and this one was sort of Michaels movie even though they say that its sort of the town of Haddonfield's movie. They did sort of had Allyson as one of the main characters even though they did a bit much with Tommy and I did like Lonnie and Lindsey as they were the better returning characters in the movie. I also liked Big John and Little John, would like to see a full movie with those two. One more thing Hunters moon by Ghost was a great song.
My biggest problem with the trilogy is they want Michael to be supernatural but also human. He takes way more damage than any human could and survives starting in the original with being shot 6 times and getting up in seconds. Speaking of did the flashback have bullet holes in his suit with blood? How does he feel no pain when punched in the chest where he's littered with lead? How does he heal in a sewer if he's not supernatural? If he is supernatural how does the damage catch up with him to the point he's as weak as he is? DGG wanted to make him super powered and not on a whim to fit his scene and it doesn't work.
I've watched halloween kills about 4 times trying to see what other people like in it but I just don't get it. For me the whole thing feels cheap and lazy with sprinkles of cool moments.
Mann Halloween Kills is awesome...theater experience was awesome...i think this was the best blum could do with Michael...the sequel meant they make any movie they wanted basically...while 2018 and ends feel like a class project forced to do it...
To this day I wonder how it would have been if Paul Rudd wasn’t on the Ghostbusters movie during the same time, if things would be the same or slightly better. I hated how they make such a hype with Lindsay and… that’s it? She survives, sure, but that’s it? Still funny how the nurse from the first movie died in two different timelines, though “This is for Loomis” killed me. Like, does that mean Michael managed to kill Loomis after all or whatever else. I don’t know, Jim. Compared to Ends, while the mantra and the mental patient being mistaken for Michael was tipping it for me to being meh, I am not going to be kinder to a movie that has Michael turning into Miyagi.
Halloween kills could of been the second best ever, the thing that knocks it down a few steps is the hospital scene, there was no need for it, or if so to be as long as it was. Take that out and the evil dies tonight and it would of been epic. The flashback though - one of the best opening sequences ever. Still a 7/10 for me never wavered on my score as it took 3 watches to get my head round the tracking lol
Agreed. Flashback scene was 🔥 a full movie like that would be awesome. I hated the Hospital scene and the umbrella guy was a 15 min time killer. Agreed 💯 on this. Wish it had a road map along with the kills.
I have to agree certain parts of the script were really bad could've done without the hospital scenes they were pointless I very much enjoyed big john and little john and also the scene when Lindsey was hiding from michael I thought was very tense overall I give it 8/10 love you guys great video as always love what you've been doing with hhm can't wait for more
When Michael was on screen this film was perfect. But all the hospital scenes or Tommy Doyle monologues were very poor. I don’t need the forced fan service. And the scores for this entire trilogy were perfection. Remember how upset we all were when they pushed this movie back a year because of the pandemic? 😂
Big John and little John made that movie so much better
Yes I loved them lol!!

I really liked Halloween Ends cause they treated michael like crap. @@rorymclaughlin1609
The flashbacks, kills and effects all are good
EVIL DIES TONIGHT!!!!
My prediction: Mike & Jay are going to appreciate Halloween Ends more on this rewatch.
This is my 3rd fav Halloween film tbh
Same here man, the original for obvious reasons is my #1 but the (18) is my second then kills. I'm sure I'd get crushed by fans but I don't care 🤷🏼♂️
@@md.saunders6625 My #1 is actually 2018, then the original, then kills
no one will ever know what Stuart could really do RIP Stuart
I love Kills. The dialog isn’t great
and “Evil dies tonight” is annoying as hell, and Hall just wasn’t a good Tommy for the most part, but I love everything else about the movie.
Yeah I think Kills is up there with the best movies ever.
Halloween kills feels like michael playing a video game on easy mode😅
Loving Halloween horror month as always. 3rd or 4th one. Not sure how long its been.
Kills has some of the best sequences in the entire franchise
I liked Halloween kills I would watch it over ends
i still think the corny dialog just makes this even more stupidly funny and cult classic-y. easily in the top half of the series for me
Right
I could watch Halloween Kills on a loop forever and not get bored. I love it. Yes, the chanting is jejune as hell but it is nonstop brutality with a great soundtrack and I love it. Even if Karen dies, which I think is a tragic choice on the part of the filmmakers.
Bro that’s what I’m saying . I can easily watch kills more then 2018 to be honest
Watching this in the hotel in Lexington. Getting to meet you guys soon. GET IT UP!!
David Gordon Green & Jordan Peele are the most hyped mid in horror right now!
😲😲😲. What don't you like from Jordan Peele?
@@marcuswardjr6772personally I think Peele is 2 for 3 because I’m not a fan of Us
@@avgnfandon2 I wouldn't disagree I have mixed feelings on US every rewatch and that pushes it to the back of peeles catalog
@marcuswardjr6772 Yeah, I think Us is an entertaining movie, but it doesn't really make sense if you sit down and think about it for a few minutes
Us was a great idea with piss poor execution ive always thought, and thats the sole reason ive been worried about finally watching Nope
For the algorithm ....EVIL DIES TONIGHT lol
Been saying it for a minute now. DGG Halloween flicks work better when you skip Kills and just go right to Ends. It actually plays better for both Halloween 2018 and Ends.
i swear down thass what i did styll, watched 2018 at the worst fuckin place, weather and device to watch a film cah why not. watched ends in india. den came back to kills after man got back to da block and it came on netflix
For anyone interested, the Halloween and Halloween II novels are available on kindle right now. Halloween II is 5.99. I don't recall what the other price was.
Did I hear some dog panting in the background of this one? Haha. Luv your vids guys.
I discovered the band Ghost because of this movie, that's the most positive thing I can say about Kills.
To quote Salieri's co-worker in Amadeus, this movie had "Too many notes."
It had Zero focus when all it needed was One -- Michael F'ing Myers.
They turned michael into the terminator? That's not good. They'll never explain how he's so unstoppable, huh?
The best thing about kills is big John and little John lol love them
One thing people haven’t noticed was Karen resembles Rachel Corruthers and Allyson resembles Jamie Lloyd.
Here to protect and defend HALLOWEEN KILLS yeah👁️🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎃🎃🎃
How many of u guys wanna lie and say when they have Michael all at gun point in the flashback u heard the little downward tweak to the second officer’s voice as soon as he says “Myers” at the end of him saying “that’s him, that’s Michael Myers⬇️…” …??????? Hahahah bcuz I didn’t until the second watch!!
Yes I’ve noticed that. I don’t like it. Found it corny & also unnecessary.
My favorite of the HalloGreen trilogy, not perfect but my man Mike is pissed and I love it!!!
Michael was a class act. The scene with penguin in the hospital was weird. Brackett was great. Charles Diapers
I still say "Halloween Kills" is "leaps & bounds better then " Halloween Ends!" Quite frankly , it's not even close !
They’re releasing Halloween 2018 extended cut and the alternate ending on Peacock October 31st 2023
Side note the stone cold/booker t grocery store segment was awesome
There's a scene where Laurie's granddaughter holds Michael off with just one hand. I was waiting for Nick Fury to show up and recruit her for The Avengers.
Never understood the overwhelming slander for KILLS. What am I missing? It’s a Halloween movie lol I expect nothing but kills and wacky corniness lol
I found a picture with this channel wrote on the back in a dollar tree parking lot.
That checks out completely
I just remember you guys told me to watch it again and I’ll like it better and now you guys like it less hahaha all in good fun ;)
You should do a fantasy draft of slashers/horror villains and then have us vote for who has the better team
I've watched halloween kills about 4 times trying to see what other people like in it but I just don't get it. For me the whole thing feels cheap and lazy with sprinkles of cool moments.
Kills is my favorit ❤ michael
Compared to Ends, while the mantra and the mental patient being mistaken for Michael was tipping it for me to being meh, I am not going to be kinder to a movie that has Michael turning into Miyagi.
eh idk, I think Halloween Kills gets overhated a lot.
It didn’t bother me how bad the script was. I was only there to watch Michael kill people!
This movie got issues, but it gave me what I was looking for: entertained with massive kills
like 3-4 bizzare scenes lmaoo but def a good Myers film
I think we were all misled into thinking there was some master plan behind these movies.
Well said!
Hope you finish it off with a new Halloween ends review
