Sergei Gaidukov I have a video that I will upload tomorrow showing the progress I am making on the Metra Elictric / South Shore route depicting the trip from Millennium Station to Gary Metro.
hiya, I am so sorry it took so long to answer. I am working on several things at the same time. I am alternating between the Metra Electric and the CTA. stay tuned. :)
I took a Metra trip from Chicago to Mishiwaka, Indiana, when I contemplated moving there. I'm glad that I later moved to Bellingham, Washington instead.
The sceme from a train going Down a street seeing side streets glide by feels and looks strange to me looking at the chairs and tables on people's front porches where they have a cup of coffee and cake seeing that from a train is really strange to me
No. Not really. It is the last of what was almost a network of Interurban Railways that connected small towns and rural areas with major cities. In the Chicago area, there used to be the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee, the Chicago Aurora and Elgin and probably others that I'm not aware of.
Actually on the South Shore there aren't a lot of sharp curves, except for a few portions of track. I.e. when the train curves from 10th to 11th Street west of the downtown Michigan City stop, the curving the tracks do just before the South Bend Airport stop(and why NICTD has proposed moving the station to the west side of that airport, along with a new track route connecting to the existing tracks to shave something like 10-15 minutes off of travel time), the junction to/from Metra Electric tracks at 115th Street(this can sometimes be a chokepoint causing delays to South Shore trains, heck I experienced this going east on Saturday 2/17/18, along w/4 westbound trains), to name the only curves I can think of. Honestly, it's more a problem of speed limits being a little slower than they once were, decades ago.
Very enjoyable video. However always watch your language, you forgot to remove that "classic telephone comment." However, you still won me over....."ochen xorosha!!!
+Kinopanorama Widescreen Preservation Association Incorporated I am going to add this information later. Firstly I want to publish all raw footage. I still didn't publish all train rides in 2014, not metion 2015.
Wonderful video sir! I rode the South Shore in 1977 with my father. Chicago to South Bend and back. Original orange cars. Was amazing! 😊

Why hello there
Cool video! I drive this often from Chicago on my way to the outlet mall or Blue Chip.
You drive it?
"I can barely hear you on this Mickey Mouse fuckin' telephone." This conversation at the beginning is CLASSIC.
"I can't pull the emergency cord, it's against federal regulations."
@nuothe11th: My phone service is a joke too! Verizon Customer Service unsatisfactory! Poor connections.
Cool video!! Thanks !!!
awesome video
This is really cool!!!
The train runs in the middle of the street, but it's not a tram.
Yup, it's called Street running and has done so for a long long time.
Great video.
Always a great ride :)
I need to catch these guys.

This line is so bizarre

Right on the street with cars, you have to be kidding me.
This line has existed for over 100 years. Back then, this was very common. This is one of the few remaining currently.
Prior to. R. R relocation in. Lafayette. In. The. Monon. R. R was located in the middle of. 5th. Street which. Was a very busy area in. Lafayette.
Great video yet the train seems to run really slowly! Maybe I was expecting this to be the 110mph train.
Too many sharp curves.

what's that ramp in the middle of the train ?
+SkandikFilm These are so called bi-level gallery cars. The use those ramp in the middle of the car as a luggage storage :)

Sergei Gaidukov I didn't hear the noise that the train makes every time it slows down
