My daughter, her cousin, and her friends are going to serve their missions soon. And this is the song came to my mind when another one of her friends open her mission call last night. What a wonderful generation with such faith and desire to serve the Lord. I am so grateful.
It will be absolutely necessary to have the kind of faith and love that the pioneers had to get through our own mountains and valleys in these latter days! ❤️ I am soo grateful to have the gospel of Jesus Christ to guide me in my own life!
As a. Christian who was raised Roman Catholic, I LOVE this choir. I’ve had a recent major conversion, and the choir has been instrumental in my deepening love and faith for the Savior Jesus Christ!! Thank you!
Another Catholic here, although not ex... wonderful singing. You have look far and wide in the UK to get good choral music in the Catholic church which I have been able to find and sing in London but it is hard to find.
I am so grateful for my heritage. Having experienced much in a long and busy life, there is nothing I would rather have known and nowhere I would rather have been. Thank you fo the Church, the choir, and the orchestra for reminding me.
I was in Salt Lake City in 1997 and watched the celebration at BYU University for the Sesquicentennial when the missionaries walked around the stadium and sang this song it was the most moving experience in my lifetime. I had it recorded and after 21 years I still get goosebumps watching it. An Amazing performance. Trenton Spears
This hymn touches my heart every time I listen to this hymn. I had an ancestry that has Martin handcart company. Her faith still endures and touches all of her family for generations to come.
I love our pioneer heritage. I was there in 1997 as well. I love how the gospel makes bad men good and good men even better. It takes a lot of faith to change and to move forward one step at a time, but we all have that faith within us.
This song has always given me comfort in times of need. As Elder Bednar explained, there may be times when we have to put one foot in front of the other without knowing what is ahead. It’ll all work out if we have that faith!
Faith in Every Footstep 1. A marvelous work has begun to come forth among all the children of men. O ye that embark in the service of God, give heart, mind, and strength unto him; For prophets have spoken and angels have come to lift the world from sin, That Christ may reign over all the earth and bless his gathered kin. Chorus 2. Those marvelous Saints who embraced this great work and shared it in lands far and near; Who gave all their heart, mind, and strength to the Lord with wisdom and vision so clear; Now stand as examples of virtue and faith, of souls prepared to hear, Of knowledge sure, born of humble heart, and love that banished fear. Chorus 3. If we now desire to assist in this work and thrust in our sickle with might; If we will embark in the service of God and harvest in fields that are white; Our souls may receive the salvation of God-the fulness of his light, That we may stand, free of sin and blame, God’s glory in our sight. Chorus Chorus With faith in every footstep, we follow Christ, the Lord; And filled with hope through his pure love, we sing with one accord.
When I hear this I am taken back to 1997 when this was written for the 150th anniversary and they broke the grounds for the conference center and it was just such an amazing year in the church filled with all that pioneer spirit and heritage. It still makes my heart so full.
Agreed! I'm also looking forward to great Restoration anniversaries in 1820 (First Vision), 1829 (Book of Mormon, priesthood restoration?), and 1830 (organization of the Church)! I feel like the coming celebration of those events and others demands effort on my part to prepare my mind and heart so that I'm ready to fully appreciate them and their role in bringing me closer to Christ. I'm finding that "The History of Joseph Smith by His Mother" has been a good place for me to start. I'm grateful for what "those marvelous saints" have done to point me to Christ, who is what this is all about!
Beautiful is not enough. The words bring tears to my eyes.... What a great example of faith... pure love for Christ and his Gospel. I hope our Sturgeon Choir members could sing on July 24th 2016, with the inspiration and the spirit that guided the pioneers.
I first heard this song sung as a solo in the Winter Quarters Temple dedication. It was an unforgettable experience! I wish I knew the name of the person that sang it.

When I think of what our pioneers went through I know that my life has been easy and marvel at their faith. This is so beautiful.

This hymn is just majestic from any perspective. It describes not only pioneers journey but what it could be our journey through life
