Haha, at first I thought "oh hey, this is easy enough, let me at it" but then it suddenly got more challenging! Great tune, which I hadn't really paid much attention to before. Love that driving rhythm.
I am listening to this song 24 hours a day and feeling highly motivated about doing anything whole day, even sleeping to have a nice rest for tomorrow.👏👏👏
Thank you Tom for playing all of your songs, throughly enjoy watching and listening to you play. I'm also learning from you, keep up the great pleasure of playing
you do an excellent job on these Ventures tunes and covers. I grew up playing this stuff-- i'm in my early 70's now. and you made me jealous ! one highlite of my life was the night I spent with the Ventures -- sitting with Nokie Edwards and buying the drinks of course ! last thing -- i'm NOT Linda (my wife)
Nokie and the guys would be proud! My son Daniel and I are friends with the Ventures and have played with Bob Spalding on line through skype. These songs are fun to play and people never get tired of them. You can catch my son and I playing on my You Tube channel under William von Zangenberg. We also did a tune we wrote with Kenzie Wheeler from The Voice when he was just starting out. That was fun also and our new Christmas song is out there too. Thank you for your instructional videos and great work. Keep it up! Nice playing and technique as well.
That was very nice Tom. That was so popular in Philippines those days especially in the parties. In the early 60s (I'm still a little boy) all I heard on the radio were mostly instrumental group records namely by The Shadows, Ventures, Eagles (UK), Atlantics (Aussie), etc. The Eagles (don't be mistaken it as the Eagles from California). The Eagles instrumental group from UK have a lot of hits in Manila like Bristol Express, Aldila, March of the Eagles, etc. The Ventures was so popular too. Happy New Year
Hi Tom, love your stuff, man! Really inspiring! Could you please add more backing tracks of the covers you have posted to your site? Your BTs are really good compared to a lot of what’s out there and for some tunes I can’t find one at all. Have a very safe and happy 2021!
Great , as always. Not sure if it was Bob Bogel or Nokie playing on this?Originally by The Fireballs. PS: Most likely Nokie since Bob was not likely to be ‘bending’ notes on the early recordings!?
Bending the G with the little finger looks and sounds like Nokie; I think the original might have been played mostly at the 5th fret, and the bending was with index finger, which Bob might have managed. (But I never saw either of them play before youtube, 50+ years after I was trying to learn this from the LP.)
Fantastic work, Tom. I have followed your channel for some time now, and greatly enjoy your posts. Thank you for sharing both the music and tablatures; I am learning a great deal from your videos! Do you know if Nokie played lead on the original studio recordings of this song and "Yellow Jacket"?
I discovered all your cool surf guitar video and i really love them !!! i also discovered Ventures hit songs. Please could you give some advices to have the same twanging "surf guitar" sound as yours ? which amp ? wich FX ? do you use software sim like Bias FX, amplitude, Guitar Rig or do you play on multi-fx hardware ou real amp ? thank you for including the tab to practise and congratulations again !
I only include PDF tabs with Love Me Tender (Aura Lee), and Sleighin n Surfin’ since those tunes are in public domain. I am cautious about selling tabs to music I didn’t write. I obtained the rights to sell the backing tracks though. Thanks!!
So a cover of a cover, then? Also, there are more than one Ventures' version of that song. Both live versions from their live albums from 1967 and 1972 are quite different to this one (I prefer the 1972 one).
Haha, at first I thought "oh hey, this is easy enough, let me at it" but then it suddenly got more challenging!
Great tune, which I hadn't really paid much attention to before. Love that driving rhythm.
Wow. This has pretty much everything if you want to learn garage, surf, rock n roll guitar.
I am listening to this song 24 hours a day and feeling highly motivated about doing anything whole day, even sleeping to have a nice rest for tomorrow.👏👏👏
Simply by hearing the great sound of Tom's BULLDOG, one may have thought that original members of the Ventures are playing alive on UA-cam.
Wow thanks!
Thank you Tom for playing all of your songs, throughly enjoy watching and listening to you play.
I'm also learning from you, keep up the great pleasure of playing
Love that Fender Jaguar tone! Awesome!
Compelling! A rocking time machine! Thanks for this and other superlative covers!
This sounded awesome and yet a basic twang guitar solo that is great for a beginner to intermediate player to play.
LOVED IT!
Sounds like the first single string progression I learned to play in that song . I played it in high school jazz class 😄 the drummer went Crazy 😲❗

Top lesson.
I'd be interested in seeing you play Sunny River. The way @rnsErnst plays the bridge doesn't sound bendy in the right places.
Terrific! Hope you will cover "No Trespassing" too!!!
Groovalicious!

you need to use Spring Reverb!
ua-cam.com/video/a4fvistHTvM/v-deo.html
I am using the guitar amp modeling software in Logic Pro. I’m using a tube amp setting (like a Fender) with spring reverb like Jona said! Thanks!
I learned the riffs, but I'm not even going to attempt to memorize that solo.
superbe très efficace
Thanks!!
Good.
Do your backing tracks come with printable tab?
@UkeitarDoug Thank you so much for your reply. Happy New Year to you too!
I only include PDF tabs with Love Me Tender (Aura Lee), and Sleighin n Surfin’ since those tunes are in public domain. I am cautious about selling tabs to music I didn’t write. I obtained the rights to sell the backing tracks though. Thanks!!
