Barry Sheene wins the 1976 Dutch TT at Assen

In 1976, Barry Sheene claimed his first 500cc World Championship and cemented a legend which endures today. At Assen for the Dutch TT, Sheene hunted down local favourite Wil Hartog in a clinical and determined performance where his nearest rival, Giacomo Agostini, suffered yet another unfortunate mechanical failure.

I was there, rode my Suzuki gt 750 to assen from the uk..110 degrees, too hot to have your leathers on, Suzuki ones which i can still fit into 44 yrs later lol..was on the way to spa in belguim for the grand prix the following weekend, stopped in amsterdam to do some window shopping and some bastard nicked my bike, thank you barry for so many happy memories, wouldnt have been so many places or done so many mad crazy bike rides if it wasnt for following no 7.

Ah yes, this is that beautiful period of commentary and production similar to Stars and Watercarriers and A Sunday In Hell. Both cycling films (I was a racing cyclist before I was a biker, not that anyone cares), but beautifully done. Love Barry Sheene. Thanks for the upload, Duke!

Sacré Barry Sheene j’ai eu l’occasion de le Côtoyer c’était un gars hyper sympathique et plein de fougue et et c’était la belle époque où on était libre d’aller où on veut sur les circuits dans les paddocks on a pu côtoyer Agostini Jack Finley Et bien d’autres à cette époque on était libre et on avait pas les écolos intégristes qui nous emmerde maintenant pour quoi que ce soit et les politiques qui ont un pois chiche à la place du cerveau avant on pouvait dire on est français maintenant on peut dire on est des Taxmaniens La France est devenue la Taxmanie
Il y en a vraiment ras-le-bol j’espère qu’un jour le peuple se soulèvera contre ces dictateurs.
