I saw Yanni in concert in Pennsylvania. He put on a 3 hour show! I was in center 2nd row, aisle seat! It was Fabulous!!!! It was his 25th anniversary of the Acropolis concert!!

I was in the orchestra as a violinist for that concert all those years ago.
Yanni (and his parents) were delightful to all of us, even bringing us Greek pastries in our coffee breaks! We only had a couple of rehearsals and then two evening performances, both of which were filmed live to be edited later. A memorable few days!

Dear Yanni, about 27 years ago, I was a little boy in Beijing, China and our family watched this concert video on TV. I felt like even I did not know what you were saying at the moment, your music just blew everyone's mind in that room. I still have the CD of this concert and don't remember how many times I played during the past 20 years. Your music, kindness, and great personality inspired me in many ways. I would love to watch your live concert one day in California Bay Area if possible once this pandemic is over. May God bless every one of us.

This very master piece and this very concert introduced Yanni to me back in 1994 when I was 15 years old in Iraq. The man, the personality, the style, the music, the full orchestra, and the venue mesmerized me to the limit. And all that accompanied me throughout the journey of my whole life.

@@Giota692 it became a dream to me since I watched this concert (I was a child). I already had this sintony with Greece since I understand myself as a human (my father is a History teacher and I used to read a lot about Greece )
I kept this wish as an aim to achieve, at least to come and visit this blessed country, but God decided to give me much more than I asked, so He gave me the opportunity to come, live and work here ❤.

I asked my parents for a keyboard and joined the music class when I was 6yrs after watching his concert in India.
Added a similar comment above, I was that same kid seeing this in PBS then talking my parents into getting tickets then getting to see him live. Still remember it like it was yesterday.

The best thing about this concert is that every musician seem like they having fun.
Except that principal violinist on the end. He looks like a stern school teacher. Maybe his is having fun inside his head, but outwardly, definitely not. Now the drummer on the other hand, is having a hoot.

Both of my sons watched this performance when it first aired on PBS, it inspired them in music and they both now are accomplished drummers. It's amazing to think how one persons vision can affect so many.

I am so glad I can say that I was alive when this happened! My mom tells me that she would dance around with me in her arms to this music when I was a toddler, because we have the CD of this concert! Of course I don’t remember but now I love music, and I am a pianist, and a piano teacher, and I have two covers of Yanni’s music on my channel... First Touch and Reflections of Passion! This concert version of "Standing In Motion" sounded a lot grander and richer than the studio version. Same with "Swept Away" and, many others.
Yanni's Acropolis concert will be one of the few things that will be sent in a time capsule in the search of other forms of life. The iconic meaning this concert gives describes the best of humanity and its culture. This is not only a concert, but its an organism that will live long after Yanni himself is gone.
