Mine has the falcon written in script. The neck radius is very flat, and is flaming maple that moves like tigers eye. This guitar is my favorite player action wise and wood-tonal wise.
Have a late 80's Falcon classic..8 inch radius fretboard.. powerbend trem.. has a ding on the bottom where I see teal green paint.. spoke to peavey about the serial number.. told me it left the factory black.. bit must have been a paint change from the teal or they used leftover teal as a primer.. who knows.. this strat feels great in the hands and hugs your body... Love it and the single vol and single tone..
Just bought an older model usa falcon with a killer custom paint job and original case for $175...took it to the shop for a proper setup and it's so good it fills my need for a quality strat style guitar. I'm jealous yours has the maple neck/fretboard though... 🍁
I have a 89 Falcon that is in excellent condition but well played for 30 years. My Falcon is much different than most I have seen. Mine has a poplar body (very lite), a incredible flamed maple neck up through the headstock with a flamed maple fretboard. The name on the headstock was written in cursive script, not blocky looking letters. It’s a 3 color burst, Strat style trim, micro tilt neck adjustment. The action is very low, with the small fret wire you can move all over the neck even though the neck still has all of polyurethane finish on it. This guitar is not heavy but it is heavy duty all the way down to the string tree. Lol. The manager of a Local mom & pop shop who by the way are a Fender USA, Fender custom shop dealer said “this Peavey feels and sounds like a Fender custom shop guitar”. He loved it.
As a kid in the 80’s just beginning my guitar journey, Peavey was obtainable. My rich friends had BC Warlocks, Kramers, and such. Peavey certainly didn’t give me bragging rights. Instead, Peavey gave me a quality instrument so my ability could develop and speak for itself.
My Falcon is quite light… about the same as a MIM Strat. Some Peaveys of that era are incredibly heavy. I have a Basswood Firenza AX that weighs in the 9 pound range! My Falcon is a red late 80s early 90s and I found it in a small town guitar store with a machine gun case in mint for $100! The neck is to live and die for- about a 12”radius, shallow C & maple board It doesn’t have a Kahler, though. It had been set up and I added Sperzel tuners it is an amazing player. It has better pickups than my same era Predator. The Falcon is the finest Strat clone I’ve ever played and the prices continue to rise. If you’re looking for an American Strat but have a mid to upper 3 digit budget, find a Falcon. The regulars are going from $400-600 (in early 2022) and the Falcon Customs go up from there.
@@JeremySheppard Big fan of Valkyrie...I saw them a while back. I think it's better than Pete's other band. He still play that yamaha SG? He made me want to buy one after I saw him playing one live.
These 80's and 90's Peavey are so much fun. You can find them for so cheap and they are really great guitars. Currently have a Tracer for sale in my reverb store. Amazing guitar
My buddy was in need of cash so I bought his . Kinda surf green ,it's got the Kahler ,and Seymour Duncan split rails at all positions.$300 ,he needed to pay rent . I told him if he wanted it back I would give it back for the same price. Hahaha, 🎸 They were the top of the line back in the day.
@@JeremySheppard Definitely, it's high on my list right now. Trying to snag an obscure Gibson at a solid price that's creeping up in value right now. SB400.
Those 80's US made Peaveys are fantastic. I have a T-60 and my old Patriot bass that I got new back in '85...They are great instruments. They were once the best kept secret on the used market, but they are now becoming desirable by players, and nostalgia nerds like me...That's a really cool guitar, Jeremy.
I’m a big fan of the old peaveys (I have 4). They are awesome pawn shop gems. I got a GREAT USA predator for $89 a few years ago. Of course, it was short a string, lol. I cleaned it up, replaced the pickguard with one I already had, and set it up. It’s back to its original awesomeness, and it’s maybe the “straty-est” of all my strats. Great geetars!
I agree on the “Straty-ness” and I’ve never played a Fender with a neck as nice as my Predator’s. It’s just fun to play. The Falcon is Stratty, but plays more like a high end US Strat, but with a better neck.
Once bought a peavey fury bass (P-bass copy) for 80 dollars. It’s made in the USA comes stock with Seymour Duncan pickups, nitro finish, and high quality pots. Greatest bang for buck. Was even able to contact Peavey and purchase a replacement pick guard from them even though the guitar is 27 years old and no longer in production. Only have good things to say about Peavey
From Leo: Good purchase, good review. Not really a shredder guy, I own a shredder guitar even though it never gets used. The Peavey guitars of that era were actually pretty good, and I like the feel of the necks. Mine was a T60 that felt like an anvil hanging on my neck, but it did play and sound right. Thanks for showing some of the more unique guitars. Some of the old Washburn electrics were pretty good also.
Oh yes, my first guitar was a '94 Peavey Predator, a steal for 130€ here in Italy, back when for 300€ you could only find used, terrible squiers and epiphones. Recently I was able to fully repair/upgrade it, and it plays like a dream.
My first electric was a candy apple red Predator. It had a scorched headstock where the first owner had, I guess, put it into a fire. I played the hell out of that thing in my first punk rock band.
My first electric was a Peavey Falcon and I hated it. The neck was lacquered until it felt like plastic and I had no idea how to adjust the trem to keep it in tune. It was the worst guitar for me at that time. I would like to get it back now and see what I could do with it.
I bought an Ovation Ultra GS with an HSS config and a kahler for $250. I did have to replace the kahler, but yeah, super strats from the 80’s can be some killer guitars for not a lot of money. I this this guitar is heavier than my Les Paul by at least a pound or two, but it has a Super Distortion in the bridge and stays in tune for months at a time.
I just love Peavey Guitars from the 80ies, its a pity they kinda disappeared. I still have my Vandenberg, for me the best Superstrat ever 🤘 Thx Jeremy, with Love from 🇨🇭
They would only damage the guitar if you really didn't know what you were doing and tried to tighten it while it was screwed tight. The trick is taking tension off of the strings and then tension off of the next screws before using it.
When Peavy went under or wherever they are I wasn't surprised nor upset. I hate Peavy with a white hot hatred. The town I grew up in sold them because they were Merican' Ugh. Next time buy $200 worth of scratch offs.
My favorite “Strat”‼️ I never jelled with Fender necks, this one fits like a glove. I just upgraded the pickups/harness/hardware 👌

Ahh yes the locking trem setups 🤦♂️ many have been done never going back lol (well maybe for a friend)
thank you i have the same guitar and i love it .
I bought one that exact finish off ebay with the original case.
I love this demo.

I had an 80s Peavey T60 and it was HEAVY AS HELL also !!! One of the heaviest guitars I've owned
For sure! I can't believe how heavy they were.
The only thing more 80s than this is a 29 fret Washburn with the slash-cut fretboard at the base of the neck
I have that khaler tremolo installed in my 80's Aria Pro II, and man, it is the ROLLS ROYCE of the trems!!

Nice backing music choice! \m/
Yes, Floyd Rose trems are touchy. That’s not a Floyd though, so I’m not sure why you said that.
He did say it is a Kahler at the beginning. I believe it would count as a Floyd Rose-style. It has a locking nut and fine tuners on the bridge.
I use the term Floyd Rose similarly to Coke. Should stick to broader terms.
@@JoeMama410, I respectfully disagree. Those aren't double locking. A $10 Chinese "floyd" has more in common with a Floyd than this Kahler Flyer does

ALABAMA BOY IN DA HOUSE RIGHT HERE BRO 🤘🤘
Anybody have a peavey Razer for sale?!
Jeremy, I would be skeptical of the statement:" I found the guitar in a dumpster." How do you ensure that the guitar is not stolen?
If it were a more valuable guitar I'd be worried. This one was so rough when it started. Not a popular guitar and I didn't sense any heat on it.
I hate the Kahler tremolos. I have one without a Kahler.
Probably thrown in the dumpster by an ex peavey employee who got stabbed in the back
Hillarious
Ok so how did you end up paying $220 for a guitar you found in the dumpster?
I wasn't the finder. Guy found it and fixed it up. He rebuilt the Kahler too.
@@JeremySheppard ok. You never explained that part and I’m always interested in that stuff. Love your videos man. Keep up the good work.
Err....Was this the very ..first ..time you ...tried...to set up a guitar ..??
It looks like it, haha but I've set up thousands of guitars, but it's been a while since I have done a proper, floating tremolo.
