- This will show you how to install Z-Wave module into Yale Assure Lock SL YRD256 Deadbolt. The second part of the video will show how to setup the Yale Z-Wave module into Smarttings. The first thing you will need to do is unscrew the battery compartment door. Then you need to remove the batteries for the lock. Next, install the Z-Wave network module above the battery compartment. Then replace the batteries and put the cover back on the Yale lock. Now for Smarttings integration open your Smartthings app on your mobile device. Wake the Yale Assure Lock SL and punch in your master pin followed by the gear key. Next touch 7, gear, hit the + sign in Smartthings to put it inclusion mode, touch 1 on the lock keypad followed the gear. It might take a minute for Smartthings to recognize the Z-Wave network module in the Yale Assure Lock SL.
We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
You're a patient guy, at 3:10 I'd of been going back and trying it again.
You sir, are a God send, Bc I could not for the life of my figure this out. Now I think I know why I could not pair my old Schlage connect, bc I was doing it wrong, 🤦🏽♂️
how has zwave been long term? I have the wifi version of the lock (specifically for homekit) but since it relies on bluetooth, I found wifi reacts much quicker and more reliable.
Thanks a lot for detailed information in this video!
Thanks for watching!
Hello! Can you create passwords for the lock through smartthings? Assign username to password? Or see the time each password was used?
Hello. Very informative video. I was just wondering if this smart lock was compatible with Vinvint and could automatically unlock upon arrival?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response
I know that the Yale lock with the zwave module works with Vivint. I don't know how Vivint geo fencing/proximity rules work.
And chance of a follow up video showing how it works with smartthings?
Would love to see how it works within the smartthings app.
Thanks
Perfect! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Can you buy that green piece separately
Will the lock now be able to work with Google home?
So this just adds bluetooth to the lock? If I want Wifi I need to buy the hub as well?
Hey guy, tks for sharing it! Why in my case doesn't option 7 appear despite having the zigbee module installed?
Pull the module out and reseat it again. Then reset the lock back to factory default settings.
Tks!!! Done!! Now the problem is that the SmartThings couldn’t find my zigbee / Yale device...🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️...hard to have it working properly!
If you are trying to connect to wifi or internet for wireless connection, you may need a z-wave or zigbee HUB. It connects to wifi via hub. You could get the direct wifi module instead of z-wave or zigbee technology.
How are you doing that..I tried that and it doesn't work
Will this zwave work with google home app?
With this Z wave module do you also still have to have the bridge? I have the assure SL and it does not work without the bridge. However I am having connectivity issues and wondering if this Z wave possibly solve that
The lock works great as stand alone. If you want to control the lock via Z-Wave, you will need a hub/bridge.
Which App you use to setup lock
after entering master code -> 7 -> gear only number 3 shows up, number 1 doesn't show up :/
Ever find a solution to this? Having the same issue.
@@Dustednoah in my case it meant the module was paired with something else. so on your z-wave hub, go through the procedures to REMOVE/unlink a z-wave device (even though it never was linked to this specific hug, but you need to do it anyway). and then re-link per video.
@@Dustednoah Having same issue.
@@alexanderzagoro6918 What Z-wave hub? where do I get that?
@@lindaguillory7802 Samsung smart things for example
What’s main difference between the green module vs the orange module that says works with home kit? Do they both work with Alexa?
So to get either of them to work, you need hub to communicate with. The Orange works with Apple’s home kit. You need a Apple TV or HomePod or iPad to be in range to connect to. I don’t believe it will directly work with Amazon Alexa. The green is Z-wave that will work with SmartThings, Ring Alarm, Aeotec hub etc. that can connect to Alexa.
@@sellgooddeals-DIY awesome thanks for the reply ordered the one to work with apple HomeKit
@@sellgooddeals-DIY Iv got the green module the z wave, but I can’t connect to my SmartThings, do I need a hub or can I do it without one?
Im guessing i have to have a hub to connect to the lock? I have been trying to connect the lock for a while now but I couldn’t
SmartThings is a smart home hub, so yes, you need the hub.
I need help setting my lock as when i enter the master codde i only get 1-6 lid up not 7... not sure how to proceed... HELP!
This means you aren’t getting a connection to your z-wave module. That green chip he just installed is the Z-Wave module.
what app are you using??
SmartThings
Hi, did you need a hub? My smart things cant discover it.
Yes, you need a hub to add a Z-wave device to SmartThings.
Is there a way to connect yale lock yrd256 to WiFi using a module and not anything else like a bridge?
I have the same question
I can’t connect to Ring app 😓
@sellgooddealsDIY : I bought Yale Security YRD256-ZW2-619 Yale Assure Lock SL with Z-Wave in Satin Nickel (YRD256) Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt. I do not know if I need a hub with it. Also which app should I be using with this model? Thank you in advance
It looks like your lock already has a Zwave module. You would need either a Ring alarm, SmartThings or Wink hub to be able to operate this lock. You would use the corresponding app with the hub that you purchase. I have used both the Ring and SmartThings hubs. They both have pros and cons. It really depends if you already have an alarm system or if you plan to have multiple zwave devices.
what app are you using? thank you
In the video it was SmartThings classic. You will also need a hub if you don’t have one.
HI do u need a samsung smart thing hub for the lock to show up on the smarthing app. after i press 1 and setting icons i dont see the app the listed in the smartthings app. It says "Join the wireless network" and then it times out.
Yes you need to have a smartthings hub
Simon Adam thanks. Bought the smartthings hub and got it working
Do you need a hub? In order to do it
Yes, you will need the hub.
Does this require a hub?
Yes, if you have the zwave module. I have used this with the Ring alarm system and it works great.
What App are you using to connect with the lock?
The video is about connecting the Yale lock to *SmartThings*
I don't have the instructions, need to remove the lock
How do you set up with Ring?
It's only giving me the number 1 to 4 there's no 7
You may need to reseat your Z-Wave module.
Mine can’t go past the 7. Something with the WiFi connection
Try unplugging your router/modem for 1 min. plug it back in and give it another try.
sellgooddeals DIY it says exit the wireless network.
Sorry, I just did a video on the August lock....I had that on my brain. It thinks it is already paired with a network. Are you sure it isn't setup? If so, you should exit the network then it will let you set it up again. You may want to go to Smartthings, Zwave utilities and do device exclusion at the same time.
sellgooddeals DIY I will try again thanks. I will tell you if it worked or not
sellgooddeals DIY you are a genius. I did reset the Yale lock and it worked. It must have been stuck on the previous settings. Thank you so much
Few devices lol :-)
