The Railways series was made for adults too, in the sense that Awdry knew the poor parents would have to read the stories constantly, so made them interesting for adults so the experience wasn't as painful for them.
This even predates "The Little Engine That Could" that had trains with faces 20 years later. But a New York newspaper comic Robert Elton first drew a cider barrel train with William Henry Harrison's face on it in 1840, but the railway was not the subject of that cartoon
Imagine being so far ahead of the curve, that you parody a popular children's character before the creator of the franchise was even born. [Before I get any angry comments my way, I'm aware that it _obviously_ wasn't parodying Thomas, I just wanted to make a quick, cheap joke.]
As a Thomas fan I'm lucky this video is on my homepage Cuz this video is related to my homepage that I watched Great job making this video We appreciate watching this
Between this and the American cartoon "Hell-Bent For Election" (a.k.a. the "FDR streamliner vs. seething coal locomotive") it's funny how so many of these trains with faces were used in political settings back then.
I’m a Thomas fan, but these comments are kinda well…Stupid. I mean not every comic that has a train with a face on it always of to be connected to Thomas. Like yes it has a face but doesn’t mean it related to Thomas
The engine and non-rail characters from TUGS, Bob the Builder, Chuggington, Theodore Tugboat, Budgie the Little Helicopter and Underground Ernie have faces, but does that even mean these shows are in any way connected to Thomas the Tank Engine? No. And we all know why is because they're all set in completely separate worlds and that they are also created by rather different people.
@@BriceInkling138 Agreed, I understand their creativity in it, but I'd like the comments to stop doing that, one even said they could make a custom model train from it, and in my opinion, I'd think it's unnecessary, I mean I don't how to explain it, but it's weird to make a model train outta such a character

in one of the stories he was gonna put the n word but didn't (thank god_

Wow! I honestly never knew about this comic! But thank you for telling me! It was not so popular before The Railway Series came out!
A new character for somebody to model!
Why…?
@@SnoopyDogg101 why not

a video on Tokyo’s red brick rail viaduct would be interesting… and the Kōbu Railway
why the hell did this guy from a history channel to a TTTE channel

For viewership I suppose. Don’t blame him.

I considerate this as canon in both the Railway series AND Thomas and Friends.
Why..?
@@SnoopyDogg101 its funni
This would’ve been an amazing parody of the real railway series
Damn so this Train was created before Kikansha Yaemon (1942)
This engine could also be an interesting ttte character
Can you talk about the South Manchuria Railway?
Very good video mate =)
before thomas parody for some comedy shows this might be the first for this croody art

1:17 what locomotive is that? Pretty neat looking
That's a streamlined JNR C55 class. Really quite fascinating how the streamlining was done on these locomotives.

who in their right mind puts a Wall-nut on a train.

Vehicles having a face is a trope and people end up thinking every story with that trope is canon or something.
@@Cacowninja Doesn't this show how dumb some people in the Thomas fandom are? Judging by this mindfuck moment, they clearly are.

Whats the engine s name ?
It doesn’t need a name nor does it have one
