Traditional Buckskin Florida Cow Whips

Cool video. I'm from Florida and am a whip maker myself. I'd like to have a buckskin made whip one day. These guys must put a lot of hours into these.

Thank you Mr. Winrich for the spotlight including Mr. Dekle (he pronounced it Deekle). I apprenticed with Mr Dekle in the mid and late 80's. For over 2 years . Yes. He did the duct tape string then plaited belly he called a middle belly sometimes or a whip inside a whip. Then the overlay. He preferred brain tanned buckskin but it was hard to get. As it is now.. so chromic was used or veggi tan. Have a good day.😊

Hey Adam, I'm probably 1 of the few that knows who Monty Montana was. I lived in Wolf Point MT. for 8 years. We had a small museum that held a display for Monty including one of his costumes. Pretty neat.

Cool! I never met him. His widow was selling some of his things, so I bought four whips. Montie did a whip act with her in the 1980s.
