If you fuel tank builds way too much pressure, check the zipties around the vent hose going down along the front of the frame near the crash guard. Ziptie was so tight it crimped the hose closed.
One that I've seen on a few bikes - the cable tie that manages the rear brake light switch is done up too tight, this pulls on the switch and the rubber around the wires tears. My switch works fine so I've just wrapped it in electrical tape for now but it's not great.
I had the same fork gaiter issue. They suck to the fork because the vent holes have not been properly formed during manufacture. Simple fix with a hole punch around the bottom. Also some of the cable ties are the reusable type. Cheers Les
I think they leave a bit extra to help them take it off without destroying them. You can always reuse even normal zip ties. It is just difficult with the smaller ones.
My Build quality is the same although my loom was not pinched. Day 1 I went over the bike when it was delivered....... So much for a pre delivery inspection by the dealer the front wheel rim was marked only to be told they only supply a superceded wheel with no drive for some reason. I don't think BMW or Honda would stand for this hope the new Himalayan is built to a better standard.
Rear wheel nut hits exhaust. Some exhausts rub on swing arm. Also I believe there’s an issue with the swing arm main bolt assembly. Once tightened it locks up the whole axle causing the bolt to swivel instead of the roller bearings. I started looking at this when investigating a squeaking noise and noticed the swivel arm was jamming
Thanks, I did miss that in the video. I did not realise it was a problem on them. I assume that could also mean that the grease may be the incorrect type?
@gettinglostagain i don't know if it's the right type or not, but relay failures caused by an excess of terminal grease seem to have been a problem throughout the RE range for a few years. Better bosch relays are available, and they are a cheap fix. I have heard that some dealers clean the grease off before sale to avoid customer annoyance.
Yeah. Built to a price still okay value. I guess where similar bikes at the same price point benefit being from the likes of Honda etc, would be existing mature production and quality processes associated with scale. 😊

Labour is cheaper in India but that will change with time and if RE grow their sales revenue they will probably follow the same path as their competitors with price increases to match and it will simply become a battle of margins :).
Hello how are you. I wish you are well. I'm from Brazil and I want to make a suggestion. Check shock absorbers, disassemble completely and add good quality oil. Check the motorcycle table, bearings and the applied grease is not of good quality, check the relays, they come with a lot of grease, need to clean and apply a drop of dielectric grease. The best thing will be to disassemble the entire motorcycle to rearrange all the electrical parts. Change the brake oil, I believe Royal Enfield oil is of poor quality

I've been considering this bike, but if I'd have to disassemble it, have all the welds professionally reworked, and reassemble the bike, I'm not sure it would be worth it. Better to just buy a different bike with better quality from the factory.
Yeah you are probably right but as a Himalayan owner I can confirm the ride quality during off roading is so much better and I’m saying this with just minimal off-roading experience. I’d advice you to go for it and have proper quality check while receiving the machine..
I have a 2019 model. my issues. dry rot on the front tire, the fork gaiters., rubber under seat that holds some sort of plug. put thread lock on side panel screws and don't over tighten, otherwise the side panels will crack. fuel pump went. everyting replaced under warranty.
Yes it is discontinued. Thinking both bikes are in the same range is a common mistake and shows how much the engine and philosophy are not understood as totally different.

Im suprised dealers sell them with all the warranty claims (which they usually try and get out of anyways). I moved to a japanese made bike after this and its miles and miles ahead in every way
It is surprising. Hadn't heard of any welding issues for the last few years. RE had shoddy welding quality till about four years back. They seem to have mostly resolved it in their complete line-up. The engine light thing was probably something with your unit. Haven't seen that much in forums. But, Japanese bikes are generally built better, when they want to. They cut costs in some weird ways when they feel the need. CRF300L's suspensions come to mind. They just assumed everyone would replace it.

Rather than cut the zip ties- twist the tag ends. A few twists and the tag comes right of leaving a blunt end that can't snag or cut hands or wires.

The best way to cut cable ties/zip ties is with a large nail clipper. It cuts them nice and flush and is also small enough to get into tight spaces.
Great tip! I use flush cut side cutters, if someone did not have those your idea is a good one. 😊

Looks like the exhaust heat shield might be touching the rear swing arm occasionally 🤦♂️
Thats caused by people over tightening the swing arm bolt causing the spacer sleeves to splay the swaged ends and locking everything solid.
@@mattyb7736 it does this even with lowest recommended torque spec. Swing arm will move but with resistance

It's cheap as chips that's why you will find tie wraps on all bikes not cut short
