Mike puts me in mind of my younger self although I didn't have the discipline and dedication he has shown to pull out these amazing licks. Always enjoy his jams because he never seems repetitive like a lot of folks that do demos. It is a blast to go through the demo archive watching him and all the other fantastic players that perform in that shop playing these amazing instruments.
Now that's what a Guitar should be. WOW!
1961 is the best year for Gretsch 6120s in my opinion. They went to a thinner body, but still singlecut, and it doesn’t have the goofy G-brand on the top. In 1964, when I got my first electric, there was a guy who was a year or so older than me, who I’d run into periodically, and he had a ‘61 6120. I used to go hear his band play, and when he’d catch me watching him to see what he was doing, he’d turn his back and smirk at me. He wouldn’t let me touch that guitar either. If he’d been a decent guy, he could have really helped me out, but instead he chose to be a jerk. I was no competition for him at that time-he was a pretty good player and I was trying to find my way. But that Gretsch was killer! I wished he’d let me play it-all I had back then was a St George-branded Teisco!
The Shadows 'Apache' sound right there..
Michael should own this guitar
Man I have not watched this in so long. These guys are amazing
Beautiful guitar.
Whoa! Lemmo actually said "turn that reverb down a little" ... that may have been a first time historical moment. Great demo ... both Michael and the guitar did each other justice.
This instrument is just furniture-level amazingly beautiful. Good lord. 👀
Rare 61' Without The Standby Switch!😮
One of my holy grail guitars. What a beautiful instrument, nothing and I mean nothing sounds like a Gretsch. My only complaint is the demo was awfully short. Come’on Lemmo, it deserves to be shown off more than that.
Where's my {Fist Full Of Dollars } when I need it! Beautiful Demo Lemmo!
Maybe two fists full
When nothing else will do and this Guitar brings it in bucket loads are a couple of things that cross my mind.. .. and it looks *that* good too.. I'm aghast just how good this instrument is, talk about the complete package. 😎♥
The guitar (1959 version) used by Pete Townshend to record Who's Next.
and the great Brian Setzer
She is so beautiful, timeless ! Magic guitar with great sound 👍
You could get great surf vibes from that too.
No way I'd sell/trade that back . The best of Gretsch .
Wow! Need to bust out some Rockabilly on that git fiddle.
Awesome. Love my Gretschs!
All Chet, Teen Party ! The 6119T Tennessee Rose George Harrison in deep cherry stain is a Gretsch Grail too.
Man that sounds fantastic! Where is Jen? I missed her voice. I hope she is ok.
That is very ,very good sounding.
Sounds beautiful, looks beautiful, what more do you want!
Whacky Wednesday - or quacky? That mid position is like Roy Orbison, "Crying".
Oh man I love those Chet Atkins models !! Well done Lemmo !!
That’s a particularly fine guitar
"It's just the right amount of thickness, but not too big, so it feels great."
high quality 🪵 wood
That looks and sounds unreal
Beautiful playing as always Mr Lemmo.
Ahh...$18,500. I see now why you didn't thrash her aka 'Stray Cat' style. 🙂
Thank you so much. Nothing sounds like A GRE TSCH guitar. Pardon my stupid auto, correct. I'm loving these pieces. I'm neglected brands. How about some neglected models? Gibson melody Maker comes to mind.
Randy Bachman plays a guitar just like that !!
One sweet guitar.
Great sound. Wonder what musicians played that type of guitar throughout history.
This thing wanted you to play sleepwalk...cmon brah🤘🤘🤘🤘
Well done.
Some "Doors' would sound good on that.
thanks for the long demo...but seriously Setzers 59 ...6120 has THAT TONE!!!
This is a guitar demo that just screams for a few minutes of "Having an Average Weekend," better remembered as the theme from "The Kids in the Hall" (by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet).
THAT is "tone" 👍
Lemmo! Play Ghost Riders on that axe!!
The Good. 😊
$475 in 1961 was a lot of money. About any good used car you could buy for that. Wages were about $1.50 an hour, maybe a little more. Serious investment.
Just a comment the camera lighting in the back room on ML has been dark lately?
Qual guitarra eletrica mais Barato $.
😊🎸anything Chet! Not to disrespect but any Super Axes?
This is why we need wacky Wednesday.
👍✌❤😎
😮💨🤤
Poison Ivy’s model
I was hoping for some Cramps too! Ivy plays a '58 6120 I think. Terrific sound.
Yes, hers is a 58
Well done Michael! Awesome set!
I'm impressed.... And glad he finally stopped using the word "cool."
cool
Can anybody there play fingerstyle to demo this beautiful instrument!
no
Filter'tron > PAF and it ain't close
I don’t think one can make such an unequivocal statement like that. I will certainly agree that the Filtertrons have a brighter sound than Gibson-style humbuckers, but to me they sound more mid-scooped, and lack the kind of booming bass and mid definition that PAFs do. If only someone made a pickup that had the bass and mids of a PAF, with more articulation and without the muddy sort of sound they often have.
@@zuperdee All Gibson humbuckers sound muddy to me. Further, I honestly think Gibson humbucker players play their amp more than they play their guitar. I'm just not a fan of boomer yacht rock tones, sorry.
DC double cut is the real one, the double cuts are the most beautiful guitars ever made.
Nothing beats the 50s White Falcon…
🤤
bridge PU height needs to be dialed down
Pulp fiction.
Watched everyone from Mark. This cat just lacks professional maturity. No swag, poor hygiene and looping. Come on Norm, tighten up. Much better to offer within your team.
I've gotta say, that is one of the most versatile and coolest guitars you've featured in a while. And you give us like ten seconds of demonstration. That's a total dick play Michael. That sucked.
@NormansRareGuitars./MichaelLemmo. WHY ON EARTH DID THAT GUITAR COME BACK!?!?!?!!!!??!!!!???? What is wrong with that person?????? That thing looks and sounds great!!!!! I want it please send it to me,it will have more than a great home!!!!!
