Hey Marty ! Good to see you chilling out in norm's place,, I started playing 2 years ago now, At 55,and Every time I hear a great song from the seventies or eighties, And look up guitar lesson, Sure enough Marty's got it covered, your a really good teacher, Thanks Marty,👍 🙏
My advice when visiting Norm’s and picking up a guitar that costs more than a family car: DO NOT mention your wife and what she might think. Norm’s staff have pre-planned comedy answers that will haunt you for years.
One joke they tell is.. screw the wife. 4 gay guys walk into a bar and notice there is one stool left. One gay guy suggest to play rock, paper, scissors and the other gay guy says. "Stop all this nonsense. Lets just flip the stool over."
Every time Marty goes out in the wild I’m always hoping that whatever store he’s at the owner gives him a free guitar. He just seems like such a nice guy.
He definitely does deserve a guitar from someone.I have Been following him long enough that both are beards have gotten grey over the years together lol.
Hey Marty, thank you letting us tag along while you hang out at Norman's Rare guitars shop!!! Really cool guitarx and it is nice to have a great tour guide to tell us about, and also play the guitars.
The ES330’s are the best kept secret. Amazing guitars. I prefer the two pickup model, end prefer from 1959 (I like the big necks). Tone beasts. Check out Grant green if you haven’t already, he was the king of the 330
The pickup placement on that Gibson 330 hollow body is interesting. It's in the middle position. Most single pickup P90s have the pickup near the bridge. I like that guitar.
Norm's street address is 18969, which when added equals "33". Conspiracy theorists may be suspicious Norm a freemason? Just kidding of course (?). The last two guitars Marty played are at the top of my "dream guitar" list. 1955 hardtail strat - the year I was born, and the 1960 single-pickup ES-330 is another - Bob at "the Guitar Show" channel loves his. It's always a joy to watch Marty noodling - I could watch and listen all day! And he has smaller hands than most great guitar players, who tend to have huge hands, or long fingers anyways. I'm always envious of them, but Marty shows that us people with smaller hands can make a guitar sound awesome too, at least Marty can - he always gets the best tone out of whatever he's playing...rock on!
Nice to see Marty “out of his comfort zone” jamming his own tunes… who knew he actually play guitar? Rather than teaching guys like me to break out of those pentatonics! 😄
I’d love to visit Normans but I’d be terrified to touch anything for fear of messing something up and being responsible for fixing a $20,000 guitar lol
Have no fear. Norm is a nice guy and doesn't treat people like crap, either in his store or anywhere else ( I've seen him at many guitar shows, for one thing ) . Just use good ol' music store etiquette and ask him or any of the employees to take one down for you. Norm has bought two guitars from me, and was fair about what he gave me for both of them.
@@GonzGunner LOOOOL yea right. I've been there multiple times. If Norm or the staff think you aren't going to spend money or if you look like you don't have a lot of money, they will ignore you completely.
@@movieswithmatticus5469 Uh, yeah. Tell me something I don't know. Guitar Center does that, big time. So does any other business. So amazing! I’m pretty sure that is a Fender Montego over your left shoulder at the end. I could see so many dope guitars behind you, all the way through, as well as the ones you picked. So cool! 👍🏻🤘🏻
@@duckfluff You have a good taste in guitars. If you want to buy for that budget, you also might want to consider G&L (glguitars.com/). It is a company Leo Fender worked at later in his life and perfectioned his guitar. On that budget you maybe find something better there? It is just a suggestion though.
You should get a Gretsch G2215, you won't be disappointed for the price :). Or at least a Yamaha Pacifica 112. Both would be better than a Squier for a beginner imo.
Some says ago i was wondering How my Ibanez semi hollow would sound with a P90 in the middle, as i already got both killer humbuckers on it. this video gave me the confirmation that i can proceed with no worries hehe Thanks Marty!
I guess Norm was out in some sweaty warehouse in the desert, or lookin' under somebody's bed for that "one more" vintage guitar :-) Bet you could spend days there !
i am looking for a guitar with downsized drumpads build in, for wrist as basedrum, thumb as snare, and some drumpads below the pic-ups as well, for the fingers as tom's .as hi hat maybe, combined with a multi track looping system, does this guitar exist? or do i have to make it myself?
I've dropped by a couple of times and there are some incredible chunks of wood hanging on the wall and on stands on the floor. I'm always afraid I might walk out having mortgaged my home for something I can't put down.
Not to mention Billy Duffy of “ The Cult “ played his on several albums with them in their early days . He sold it when he hit on some hard times later in life & last I heard he was searching world wide to find his original & hopefully buy it back from who ever owns it now …
Def a bucket list top 5 but at my age & a Covid pauper ain’t gunna’ happen, still, cheers Norman & Marty, we can all dream !! You guys fill my spare time with inspirational thoughts, greetings from Thailand

Out of all of them I would say the favourite is the Strat... Im a sucker for the clean tone. Just think it sounds so sweet
