One of the best diy guides on doing this. Real-world, in the truck repair.
Many thanks.
Best video ive seen regarding extracting and replacing broken hardware
Awesome Video just got 08 Caddy EXT 6.2 ticks during startup exhaust manifolds got alot of Northern exposure!
Knock sensor issues come to find out its been broken exhaust bolts the entire time!!!!!!!! 🤦🏻♂️
relatable asf lmao got an 06 6.0 ext myself ticks crazy loud missing two bolts haha
Thanks for an excellent video. I'm a pretty capable DIY mechanic, but was resigned to paying a local independent shop to replace my cracked exhaust manifolds on my 2001 Suburban 2500, with 341,000 miles on her. After watching this, I think I'm gonna try this myself and save $800 in labor (hopefully!) BTW, the stud extractor link doesn't work anymore, but I found another that I'm going to order. Thanks again!!
I live in the rust belt. I can't believe how clean that truck is. And how easily the bolts came out. I did a 6.0 in a 2007 3/4 ton suburban the other day and the bolt heads were corroded so a socket wouldn't bite in most of them. I torched the heads off of those and ended up with 2 flush and 5 protruding studs to remove and every one was a fight to the last thread. Makes me want to move south where working on vehicles is easier.
Great ideas on removing busted exhaust manifold studs. My truck will pfft-pfft-pfft no more! Thanks!
The kit that I bought to do this job on my 2002 Silverado only came with a flat triangular gasket for the drivers side. After putting everything all together I have a pretty bad leak on the driver's side. Guy at the auto parts store said drivers side requires the use of the flat triangular gasket. I picked up a ring instead part# 190731 and it took care of the problem for anyone having the same issue.
Best video I’ve found. Thank you!
Seriously great video, just right to the point, edited nice, voiceover after the fact. It's how they should all be.
CLP, fire wrench, subbed.
Great explanation thx!
6:14 What size stud extractor was used. I link is for a four-piece set.
This was an excellent video and thanks for all your knowledge too! 👍
Thanks for the video.
Thanks!
Where is the link for the parts. Awsome video
Very good video thank you so much
The extractor kit and manifold set you linked to is out of stock - which size extractor did you use - I can get them individually and probably don't need a whole set?
What is the average cost for this?
Thank you. Is the whiz wheel the equivalent of a decal remover? Like the 3M eraser wheel?
What size stud extractor you used 6mm?
An bad gasket of them can made p071 ? Vacuum leak on my 5.3 Silverado ?
My 04 silverado is super noisy in first gear. I need to replace the gaskets. I have at least one broke manifold bolt. O plan to do this after hunting season. Did you put loctite on the new manifold bolts?
Hey i have the same Exhaust Manifold Gasket problem with my 03 Chevy Silverado Single Cab, where are u guys located? Do you guys have a company that’ll fix my truck for me?
Can we use a a triangle flange exhaust gasket instead of using that flange seal which is a copper crush ring ?
Why does none of these videos say which way the gasket goes in, gray side to the head or gray out to the manifold
0:30 "new donut gasket"
I just installed mine without this gasket and I have a leak at that seam. My passenger side dorman item was missing that piece and instructions didn't mention this extra gasket. I only had that thin ring gasket.
So the ring gasket is for the flange side on the exhaust down pipe and the donut gasket is for the upper side of flange??
Why is there TWO gaskets for one seal???
Did you hear up around the studs?
Great video. I wish you could do my truck for me. God bless
Thank you!
Great video I can’t fit a socket on the last driver side bolt . I try a wrench but I strip it a bit now the socket won’t fit in
How can I get to it without striping it more
Fidel Cordova socket bolt
Extractor
nice, what you charge me to do mine? 2011 chevy Silverado 5.3 LTZ,,driver side
will this also work on a 6.2L?
Does anyone know the going rate to have a mechanic shop do the replacement of both sides? The video was excellent I only wish I had the mechanical skills and tools to attempt this job!
Go for it man it’s pretty intimidating but take your time and walk away from it when you get frustrated
I have on 2002 Sierra 2500hd and the donut gasket will not fit into the y pipe
How much will this cost? If you don't mind me asking you
Were the old manifolds so bad they couldn’t be re-used? At between $140-$230 a pair I’d like to try just replacing the gaskets and bolts. Is a dab of anti seize a bad idea on these bolts?
Great video!
They warp
Good video. Stuff a rag or some foam into exhaust ports before cleaning with the plastic wheel.
Never understood why Chevy used 2 different type of manifold outlet gaskets on this engine.
Always liked the donuts.
Where is the link for the bolts/tools?
At about the :57 mark, I see you have 2 ring gaskets... Are two required, or just 1? Whoever removed the exhaust before I purchased my 05 Sierra 1500 didn't even replace the gasket, so I have no idea. 🤬
Just one on the driver side I believe.
About how much does a job like that cost. Amazing video by the way !
Book Time I believe is 3.5 hours
@@kylestenger15 so how much?
Would you drill out the broken stud if it was flush to the engine block?
If it’s flush, weld a nut to it. My 5.3 has aluminum heads- makes welding to those studs easier. My 6.0 is the reason I looked this up- not sure if they have steel heads.
Hope you’ve fixed your problem.
Where is the video with the welder?
Where are you located. I need this done to my truck
what was the torque set for the manifold bolts to the block?
15-18 foot pounds
Doesn't talk about most important part. What kind of bolts need to be used to stop the broken bolt problem this engine is plagued with? Is it the quality of GM bolts or a design flaw with thicknesses and dissimilar metals. Can problem be successfully resolved? Thanks!
ARP makes a kit with studs, they are much stronger than factory bolts.
thanks at all u tube and yes buy @ support at some of What ever the hell they R trying to sell busted bolt fixer !!!!
Does the manifold fit without removing steering shaft ?
yes
The Flat Rate Mechanic I was able to flip the manifold over to remove it and make it fit
Nice. Glad to here it.
@@rahrah8076 you never included the torque spec
@@richardmcelroy6574 100 ugga Duggas lmao
What spray adhesive did you use?
3m
What’s torque specs ?
man im so glad mine did not break that looks annoying.

Stop saying the word "ah" so much. Makes it sound like you have problems making a complete sentence.
He's fine. If that stops you from understanding him, you've got problems.
This comment makes you sound like an a$$hole.
