Aside from Mtn Dew, none of these I would describe as popular, or even common here in the US. Several appear to be regional (I've never heard of Big Red). Crush comes in a number of flavors - I suspect orange is probably the most popular. I think most people drink Coke, Pepsi, or the "diet" versions of them. And I"m 100% certain they threw in the Clamato just to see the reactions that we saw, because I know of no one would would drink it like this.
I enjoy your videos very much.

      Big Red is Texas.
Clemato is basically found South for Bloody Mary's.
The Sour soda's are hit or miss.

It’s regional. You can go in most stores here in Cali & find most almost all of these drinks. It may be generational too bc Az Ice tea was just as popular here as Snapple or Coke.

Big Red is sold in grocery stores and very few soda machines where I live here in Oklahoma but I've never seen it offered in a restaurant. Also, the weird reason a lot of drinks were compared to medicine is that back in the late 1800s a lot of these drinks started as medicine. Coke was originally a cure all in a bottle with a healthy dose of actual cocaine in it. That's why soda shops were also in pharmacies.

That didn't really represent the most popular US sodas, except Mountain Dew. Clamato is not a soda, it's a cocktail drink. It is actually quite nice slightly seasoned with a shot of Vodka or Gin. I get that it seems very strange, however it's just tomato juice with add clam broth. The "Crush" people have several fruit-flavored sodas, of which Orange Crush is the flagship product. They make a Pineapple Crush, which is unique but hard to find in some areas.
The business about putting "cane sugar" on the bottle is that some years ago, American bottlers started using high-fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar, amid much criticism-some people privately import Mexican Coca-cola with cane sugar across the border. So putting "made with cane sugar" on the bottle is a sales point.

Mountain Dew is one of the highest caffeine content sodas you can get. It uas a full 65mg of caffeine in one of those cans they had. Thats almost as much as a typical cup of coffee. Our energy drinks can have 3-4 times that much caffeine, plus stuff like ginseng, guarana, taurine, and B-vitamins. All of which combine to make one hell of a energy kick. And of course, most of us who drink them, wish they had more of a kick. 😂
Edit: Mountain Dew is a citrus flavor, sort of like a lemon lime, but with a lot of sugar added to it. Personally I prefer Faygo Moon Mist, but Mountain Dew has a lot more caffeine than Moon Mist.
Edit 2:Clamato juice was them being trolled. It is clam tomato juice. Its horrible. I've never known anyone that likes it.

Hahahahahah! They grabbed some outlandish ones for sure. Clamato is a preferred mixer for Bloody Mary cocktails and that is about all it is used for. Mountain Dew is really good. Big Red and Warhead soda are really niche and not popular. Arizona lemon ginseng tea is amazing but only when it isn't diet version (unless you lobe diet drinks, then I guess you think it is good). I mean, this barely scratches the surface of all of our crazy drink choices. Virgil's Rootbeer is amazing. Ginger beer is amazing. We are getting more and more natural sodas and they gave these kids the wildest and most sugary sweet and colored ones. It was a good watch though. I am not offended or anything. I think it was fun. Yeah, we have some crazy weird stuff over here but it is all good fun. I don't think you are meant to drink any of these on a daily basis.

One thing that perhaps the rest of the world need to take into account is that we use a lot of artifical flavoring in our fruity beverages that don't necessarily taste like the real fruit, so when Brits taste our grape soda, yeah, it really doesn't taste like real grapes, but when you're used to artifical flavoring, you quite enjoy a good artificially flavored beverage, Strawberry drinks don't taste like real strawberry either, but they're still tastey.

The actual most popular sodas in America are things like: Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Root Beer (A&W is the best!!), Sprite. The sodas that have "cult followings" (!!!) are things like: Mnt. Dew, Big Red (brings back memories of going to the skating rink when I was a kid!!!), and energy drinks.
Some people like Orange Fanta, Creme Soda, Grape Fanta, etc.

    - Grape flavored candies and sodas are popular and wide spread as they are based off a native grape species, Concord grapes. These are different from grapes you’d use for wine or eating. Most grape juice in the US comes from Concord grapes.
    - Gas is short for gasoline, which is refined petroleum. America had “gasoline” as a word by 1864, whereas “petrol” wasn’t widely used until the early-mid 1900’s to describe its use as a car fuel. Gasoline is a more correct term to describe a refined petroleum product used for vehicles. At least that’s how I see it.

Grape isn't that popular -it tends to be love or hate.
Mountain dew is popular and is sweet -fun fact it was created back in the prohibition days to mix with bathtub brew, which I guess tasted horrible.
Big Red was popular when I was growing up, but is now more regionally a favorite. I still love it. It has a vanilla, cherry, cinnamon thing going on. It is sweet.
Arizona tea is also popular but has a love or hate thing going on. Some of their flavors are good others are not so good.
Fanta is popular here in the US, but more with kids and some flavors can be 'fake' tasting.
Warhead is also popular with the kids.
Clamato??!!! NOOOO!! Clam juice and tomato juice. That had to be a prank. It is used in alcoholic beverages. Vodka. Some ppl like it.

Sodas started out as medicines (either narcotic mixtures or just pure snake oil claims of being medicinal) and medicine additives/bases to make nasty medicine more palatable.
But hey, why not just drop the medicine and sell the drinks?
So, they're still distantly related to the stuff they add to cough syrup, etc. (Which have longer shelf lives)
And caffeine addiction is real. Lol.

I'm a blond hair blue eye white guy from Southern California. I hated tomato juice, then I grew to love it. I hated V8, then I grew to love it. I hated Clamato, then I grew to love it. They're all acquired tastes, but I wouldn't consider any of them soft drinks. I'm not a Michelada guy, but Mexican shrimp cocktail is my favorite food now. Its base is Clamato and, by association, I drink it by the glass and have bottles of it in my pantry, literally. Mexican shrimp cocktail has nothing to do with European-style shrimp cocktail. If you've never had it, you're missing out. (There are plenty of recipes online if you can find the ingredients in your part of the world.) This vid is a little misleading, because calling Clamato a soft drink is like comparing ketchup to maple syrup.

I have never heard or seen Big Red or Warheads. I have heard of Warheads candy, which I think they made the soft drink from. Clamato is an “acquired” taste, but I haven’t heard of anyone who drinks it straight. Mostly I have heard of using it as a base for Manhattan Clam Chowder (tomato based chowder). It is completely different from New England Clam Chowder which is cream based. Fanta is most popular for the orange flavor.
Interesting to note, that these sodas are not popular here in Massachusetts with the exception of Fanta. It might be a regional thing.
Arizona Iced Tea has other flavors that are much better. However, I will note that most iced teas that are bottled are the same color as the Arizona.
I wonder why Dr. Pepper was not among those drinks that were sampled.

Coke is probably one of the most American drinks you could buy. It’s known and sold everywhere across the world. But, the best coke to buy, are the ones that come in the classic, coke bottles. The plastic used in the plastic bottles, or drinking it from a can, give it a weird taste. But in a glass bottle, it’s the best coke you’ll drink. Well, that and McDonald’s coke. McDonald’s uses a specific syrup flavoring that dispenses from the drinking fountain while pouring that gives it that incredibly sweet taste.

You must have some really sweet tasting medicine if those sodas taste like medicine😂. But in all seriousness many medicines do you use similar flavors and sweeteners to make their medicine more bearable so for those unfamiliar with the soda but you are familiar with the medicine it may taste off to them. Also some sodas were originally created as medicine but due to the popularity of the flavor they ended up removing the medicinal aspects of the drink leaving behind a soft drink. My favorite soda is and always will be Dr Pepper

  • @quigonkenny

Grape Crush: it has the same "grape" flavor as most any other "grape" soda or candy. Doesn't really teste like grape, but kinda does as well. Part of it, I think, is that so many things are "grape" flavored yet taste completely different. You've got grape jelly (jam in the UK) that's usually made with Concord grapes, and you have the actual grapes you might buy in the supermarket, which never taste like Concords, and then you have this "grape candy" flavor which no one really knows how they came up with it. Crush is basically a "poor man's Fanta" brand, a series of fruit "flavors" that similarly taste at best reminiscent of their supposed fruits. They're not bad. Also not very popular. This is probably what a mom who never buys sodas would bring to a school volunteer function. Pretty sure the normal version is made with corn syrup rather than actual sugar.
Mountain Dew (Mtn Dew): easily the most popular of the drinks in this video, it's basically PepsiCo's equivalent to Sprite from a marketing standpoint. A vaguely citrus flavor, much stronger than Sprite or 7-Up, and extremely sweet. You can literally taste the caffeine. It may not be sold as an energy drink in the US like in the UK, but it's kinda marketed as one, usually promoted as a drink for gamers or alternate althletics enthusiasts (skateboarders, etc.). They also have a bunch of various different versions, all full of caffeine, with garish coloring and "sooper kool and edgy" names. Some are quite good. None actually taste like any real fruits.
Big Red: absolutely vile. Imagine root beer, but remove all the unique root flavoring from it, so you're just left with a cloying sweetness. That's creme soda. Now add the "cherry/berry" flavoring from your least favorite liquid cough medicine, and you've got Big Red. Somehow still fairly popular, probably second most in this video, since every store brand has their own version of "Red" soda much like they do with "Pepper" flavored sodas, as Coca Cola did with Mr Pibb. There's also a "blue" version which is presumably flavored differently but tastes exactly as vile to me.
Arizona Green Tea: basically your average sweetened bottled iced tea, just green tea flavored rather than black tea flavored. Arizona tends to oversweeten their teas anyway, so this diet version is going to be even more sweet, with that usual artificial sweetener taste to it. It's not bad, but there are certainly better ones. Really should be drunk as cold as possible. Odd they market it as "decaf", since green tea is naturally uncaffeinated.
Fanta Berry: bog-standard fruity soda. Fanta drinks usually taste a bit more like their supposed sources than most, but I defy you to taste it and tell me which "berry" it's flavored after. I'd still drink it, though it wouldn't be my first choice of Fanta (that would be peach or orange).
Warheads Blue Raspberry: never had it, though I imagine it tastes reminiscent of the Warheads candies, which I have had, and which the lining of my mouth still has nightmares about. The candies just taste vaguely fruity, usually with a somewhat recognizable part of their supposed flavor, but the overriding flavor is is just an incredible level of sour, much like hot cinnamon candies have with cinnamon heat. "Blue Raspberry" is a fairly common candy flavor in the US that is so called because strawberry and cherry are already red and they didn't want to confuse people with another red fruit flavor. Have only ever seen this sold online, rather than in stores. Not very popular, as it's kind of a gimmick soda.
Clamato: also have never had it, but see it in the supermarket. Seems to be a variation on V8 or tomato juice. Have only ever seen it used in some variations of a Bloody Mary mixed drink. Am guessing it tastes like a more vaguely meaty/seafoody tomato juice. Savory drinks like that are usually best when cold and pretty gross at room temperature, so it might not actually be as bad as the testers suggested. I do quite enjoy a cold tomato juice.

I’ve lived in the US for 35 years and I’ve never had berry Fanta, diet green Arizona tea, big red, warhead soda, and the only thing people actually use Clamato for is to flavor beer.
