Chills everywhere. I wanna cry. Sooooo good. I'm SO excited for this movie and this is just amazing and remind me of when I first started doing theater. Amazing. Greetings from Colombia.
Wow! Amazing. I particularly love the cuts from the video of the kids in the classroom. The lighting and cinematography on that one are so professional! It would be wonderful to see the student credits and also be able to see the original videos from each school in full as well. Yay Lin-Manuel Miranda for giving these kids this opportunity. Indeed they are the creators of tomorrow!
Lyrics: Why do we play with fire? Why do we run our finger through the flame? Why do we leave our hand on the stove- Although we know we're in for some pain? Oh, why do we refuse to hang a light When the streets are dangerous? Why does it take an accident Before the truth gets through to us? Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than words. Why should we try to be our best When we can just get by and still gain? Why do we nod our heads Although we know The boss is wrong as rain? Why should we blaze a trail When the well worn path seems safe and So inviting? How-as we travel, can we See the dismay- And keep from fighting? Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds Cages or wings? Ah... Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than words What does it take To wake up a generation? How can you make someone Take off and fly? If we don't wake up And shake up the nation We'll eat the dust of the world Wondering why Why Why do we stay with lovers Who we know, down deep Just aren't right? Why would we rather Put ourselves through hell Than sleep alone at night? Why do we follow leaders who never lead? Why does it take catastrophe to start a revolution? If we're so free, tell me why? Someone tell me why So many people bleed? Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Cages or wings? Ah... Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer. Actions speak louder than Louder than, louder than Louder than, louder than Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds Ah... Fear or love baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than Louder than, louder than, ooh They speak louder Actions speak louder than... Louder than, louder than, aah
I wanna go to an arts highschool sooo bad. My school sucks and I haven't looked into yet, but I'm pretty sure you have to be in a special class or something for super smart kids to be able to do theatre.
Not at all in most high schools - usually drama is an extra curricular and you just have to audition for the roles, even if theatre itself is a class! The same is true for arts high schools -- you don't have to be "super smart" to learn how to act. I went to an arts high school (I went for writing, but they had musical and regular theatre, film, photography, fine art, dance etc) for a little while before I had to move as a teen, and GPA wasn't their main focus for getting in (although obviously it was more work to keep up with regular classes AND arts classes at the same time). If you have an arts HS or arts-centric charter school near you it may be worth looking at their requirements -- and if you don't, or don't think you're ready for it yet, there are community theatre opportunities in most cities and large towns that almost always need volunteers.
So cool and amazing! I Love this, it has so much love, expression and emotion, and I love seeing so many talented people getting together to sing this beautiful song :)
Inspirational. And yet…I can’t help but notice that Jonathan Larson’s high school, White Plains High wasn’t invited to participate. Please remember that inclusion means including everyone.
@@ej3016 Yes and there’s the possibility that the Larson family didn’t want it included. What if he had a bad experience there, or was bullied. Lots of reasons not to include an alma mater.
Love this song. What an honor to be asked to participate in this. Loved every minute of it. YEA Booker T Washington HSPVA!
You're in here! THAT'S AMAZING! Literally my favorite song from the film! Where are you here?

@@yaenamika2050 i Guess you're a bot por spam but this is totally disrispectful with this group of talented KIDS. Most of them must be underage.

So incredibly honored and proud of my daughter Leilani and the amazingly talented LACHSA students to be able to be part of this!!

Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our finger through the flame?
Why do we leave our hand on the stove-
Although we know we're in for some pain?
Oh, why do we refuse to hang a light
When the streets are dangerous?
Why does it take an accident
Before the truth gets through to us?

To wake up a generation?
How can you make someone
Take off and fly?
If we don't wake up
And shake up the nation
We'll eat the dust of the world
Wondering why
Why
Why do we stay with lovers
Who we know, down deep
Just aren't right?
Why would we rather
Put ourselves through hell
Than sleep alone at night?
Why do we follow leaders who never lead?
Why does it take catastrophe to start a revolution?
If we're so free, tell me why?
Someone tell me why
So many people bleed?
Cages or wings?
Which do you prefer?
Ask the birds.
Cages or wings?
Ah...

So thankful I got to work on my schools set! Go Lachsa!
The girl at 3:51 with the red hair is performing an amazing melody of the part. She should be more present. She is a talent.
is this a joke.?
4:21 got freaking goose bumps
Way to go Randy!!!!
Love how they added Andrew’s majestic voice to hide the fact that these kids don’t sing too well
Aww these kids are so talented 😍 they have bright futures ahead of them!

Breaks my heart that Jonathan isn’t here to witness all of this. 🥲

perhaps they were invited and declined - don’t make assumptions
