The Jayhawks May be the most underrated band in rock n roll. It was always a mystery to me that they never had any mainstream success.

@@kennethward4985 I never cared and still don’t care what a singer looks like. I don’t care about their political leanings. All I care about in musicians is that I like the music they create

The Jayhawks are simply one of the best bands in the last 30 years. I only wish this studio performance was recorded and issued as a live album. The harmonies are so beautiful and the musicianship is in a class by itself.

I've been listening to the Jayhawks for nearly 20 years and I finally got to see them at the Islington Assembly Hall in London last week and it was brilliant. Great as their records are - I don't think you've heard the Jayhawks until you've heard them live - absolutely sublime.

I travelled from New Zealand to see them. Ran into the band on the streets of Islington on their way to the shows soundcheck. Was good to talk to them. I have been a fan from the first time I heard Blue. The concert was superb. They really are incapable of creating a dud song. So underated it is wrong.

Whats amazing... is after a number of years growing up during the 70's and 80's and listening to a LOT of progressive music, you find a band like The Jayhawks and it all comes together... This band never EVER gets old in my book... Thank you Gary and Marc P and Karen and Tim for keeping the flame alive..

Peter..thank you for inspiring me to write a song called "KEEPING THIS FLAME ALIVE"...here's a little section.
      KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE.
      Verse 1
      Some say,
      "You're only young once",
      And age is a animal,
      Which hunts us down,
      Pre-chorus.
      Though, take that frown,
      Down, from your face,
      And race like you did,
      When you were a kid,
      ...and..someone.
      CHORUS.
BECAUSE, THOUGH MANY BANDS, ... HAVE ROCKED ON,
LOST IN THE MUSIC OF THEIR LAST SONG,
THIS IS SO..NOT YOUR TIME TO DIE,
      SO, KEEP YOUR FLAME ALIVE,
AND YOU'LL BE KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE,
YOU'LL BE KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE.
...and so on and so forth...maybe i should write it for the Jayhawks...great band..tight.

So wonderful to see The Jayhawks sounding so crisp. So vibrant. So tight. So emotional This is my favorite Jayhawks lineup as it highlights the talents of Karen Grotberg on piano and Tim O'Reagan on drums. Both are exceptional harmony vocalists and sterling musicians as is Marc Perlman on bass. Kraig Johnson also seems to added some musical muscle to the band. And Gary Louris is a monster talent and The Jayhawks are best off with him at the creative center of the band.

From the opening bars of Waiting for the Sun on LATER circa 1992 i fell in love with this band , saw them soon after and was blown away , Great harmonies , musicianship , hints of the Byrds , with a sprinkle of Neil Young Harvest era , but always with their own definable country rock twist , From this radio promo they still sound great , only a Marc Olsen return could improve things IMHO. mac

I have always enjoyed and extracted a great deal of pleasure from listening to the music of the Jayhawks since the release of Tomorrow the Green Grass.
Post Olson, Sound of Lies was a masterpiece; the secret weapon deployed, was Karen Grotberg - the Rick Wright/ John Paul Jones of the this wonderful band - her harmony vocals supporting Gary are arguably more satisfying than when Mark Olson was with the band.

January 2, 2016 at First Avenue was an unbelievable show and the new material sounded fantastic. I've seen this band maybe 30 times and they always put on a good show but this night was different. I was in awe by how tight they were throughout the show. You could see the expressions on their faces when it appeared the band was even impressed with how well their performances sounded. The previous time they played First Avenue, (9/15) the audience vocals were louder than the bands on almost every song. What a band! Pre-order the new album at www.pledgemusic.com

+ZeroTheHero That's a bit harsh man. The Jayhawks are a solid performing group with lots of miles and styles under their wheels....You're a picky slicky who would have been harsh on "The Band," Bob Dylan and others who've lived long hours on North American highways....

+Terrance Hill At 2:55 it starts (lasts until 3:43) and if you cant spot the errors, you aren't much of a guitar player. Not only is the solo played badly, it's also a very amateurish solo and it would most likely not have sounded great if it were played flawlessly.

Terrance Hill Sounds like you ran all out of arguments and reverted to the good old "let's see if you're any better" strategy. Pathetic.
You don't have to be a carpenter to complain about poorly done carpentry or a computer software developer to complain about buggy software, so I don't see why you seem to think it's any more relevant in this case.
Whether I play the guitar or not is irrelevant in this matter. It's not my performance that were below par here. I've always claimed that no solo is better than a bad solo and this is a classic example.
I've played the guitar since 1989 and I've done worse solos than this on occasion. Never on record, though.
