@@HomiestHog Thanks! I used his lore bard/life cleric on Shadowheart as an origin character(suuuper fun as main character and heals were helpful in those few emergency moments), his eldritch knight throwing build on Lae'zel, and his barbarian/warlock build on Karlach which was actually surprisingly useful and good in my party. I just used a general dual crossbow swords bard build on Astarion. It was pretty smooth sailing actually and I didn't need to resort to any barrelmancy shenanigans. Just finished act 2 (honour mode) with this party and I’m having a blast. Following exactly as suggested in the video and have fought every enemy and boss. I tried fighting Grym straight up with Astarion tucked away safely and sadly had to finish the fight with archery and minor illusion from up top but I think that was more my fault. I expected the act 2 boss to be harder but nearly burst down phase 2 in 1 turn. Can’t wait to finish levelling and take on the big fights in act 3.
So I'm trying this out (still in the early-early stages) and one thing that may have been worth mentioning: Trying to get Lae'zel and Astarion not to disapprove of every little thing you do when you're a Paladin of the Ancients is no small task.
Man you helped me alot in my old runs (of course i tried for myself at first but afterwards to make them great) and now im back for an Honour mode run and you have the exact build i was looking for 🤩 I will play with Barbarian, Monk, Rogue und Cleric until i get Minthara for my party as a Paladin instead of the Cleric. I love the focus on buffing and healing each other, it's a fun way to make melee martials feel cool and synergistic. Kinda like Teamwork feats. A more broken one would be Sword Bard/Bladelock with Band of the Mystic Scoundrel for Hold Person.
Something i found helpful when building my open hand monk was doing 8 -4 for the extra feat and putting it into wisdom and rather than using vest of soul rejuvenation passively you can use something like cloak of displacement and intentionally trigger attacks of opportunity on your turn after using your action to get an extra 2 attacks rather than the one off your turn
i found a great synergie that i didn't expect before doing it (but can be obvious) is circle of the moon druid + paladin, when transforming into a wolf give advantage and a guaranteed crit to the paladin so you utterly destroy anything that you want, almost oneshotter dror ragzlin with this combo effortlessly :D

An idea for another video, piercing damage party, 1 melee brawler dual wielder giant potion user, thats DEX based & uses Bhaalist armor, other three party members 3 variants of ranged chars, something like 1 dual crossbow, 1 longbow user & 1 crossbow user. Brawler has 4 thief for mobility & moves around and applies aura of murder while the 3 archers turn the enemies into swiss cheese. Should be fun. :)
First time I ran bhaalist paladin durge, abjuration gale tank (mr. immortal), laezel thrower and halsin moon druid. The party comp was courtesy of nizar, and synergy was off the charts. Second time I randomly ran durge wolf barb, shart radiating orb buffer/debuffer (it's as melee as it gets), laezel sentinel fighter and astarion as dual wielder beastmaster (because, yes, beasts are melee too). Because I find paladins being best in slot for melee party disgusting, I opted out of using it that time around. Then moved on to 4 bards, which was hands down most fun run I ever did. Insult your way to victory, while playing the instrument during the battle because you cannot be touched due the forcing enemies to dance. After that, I randomly played whatever down on balanced just for shits and giggles, because ANYTHING works on balanced (like monk/cleric/druid shenanigans, because, why not be a a lolth drow monk that can shapeshift into spider and is able to utilize command to assert dominance, like a true dominatrix commanding and slapping people silly, while your faithful astarion just stands beside you and keeps on insulting or playing (yes, he literally always stood beside, just throwing insults or playing his violin during the battle, nothing else, except, well, banging the drow in free time), while evocation fire gale and laezel monk/light cleric burn the world due to utilizing ele adept fire, truly a party from hell). Now, you're inspiring me to do yet another proper melee centric run, and I swore I moved out of full melee parties. And I wanted to wait for patch 7 before playing again. Sigh. Time to boot up. Let the half elf durge barbarian Andraste shine once again. Perhaps into evil run, been a while since I went full evil mode.

I'm going to have a run like this, but I also want moon druid there. Will have to think who I'm replacing with the druid, but the backbone is so good, thanks for the ideas!

Maybe honor mode is just too easy as well.
While advantage on attacks is great. I have found cleaving tiger with the club from the gnolls, that heals you, to ne super fun for a barb tank. Especially once you get the neck for a full heal.. freaking self-sustaining. Least early game, probably out damaged the heals at higher levels?
Super easy way to stockpile STR elixers. Merchant inventories reset based on someone leveling. Rather than taking your levels in the field, go to Auntie Ethel, buy the three she has. Level up that character one level. She should have three more. Do this with each character in your party. But Ken, I'm a cheeseball and want ALL the strength potions! Well, it works off of a respect too. I respect all of my NPC because I can't stand odd numbers. Those hirelings you have just to cast buffs on you? If they are in your party, you can level them one level at a time. Still works. Until I learned about being able to do this, I never bother improving my attitude with her. After, she's the first. 😄
Yep, I just find it annoying to click that many times so I tend to suggest leaving it to one character max to avoid the irritation, but obviously whatever people find most fun!

@@Cephalopocalypse I'm not mad, I should have put a smiley face. 😁 Resiliencey isn't a word though and Ward is pronounced word (not werd, our language is silly), as in warden or it wards off attacks.

Resiliency is a word from social sciences and ecology referring to the ability to recover from disaster, which is precisely the sense in which I use it here. @@Cephalopocalypse Wonder and wond are spelt wander and wand, wunder is spelt wonder, werd is spelt word, word is spelt ward. Plus it's interesting, I never really thought about how W changes most vowel sounds, wind is spelt wind though but winde is also spelt wind.
Sure, I can explain where you missed on this one! Genuinely, I think this interaction could be very helpful to think about, so please take this criticism in good faith. If you start from the standpoint of "here is something interesting about vowel sounds" you can have an interesting discussion. If you start from the standpoint of "you are wrong and I will correct you," especially when you yourself are incorrect, you almost always can't. Looking something up before making confident statements about it would also be a good first step! I actually believe you that you were just trying to help out and weren't intending to come across badly! It can be helpful to remember that a stranger only has the information you present them with in that moment to decide whether you're going to be interesting to talk to or not. Hello @cephalopocalypse, I'm thinking of playing a Slayer Archer build (Honour Mode) where I try to use the Arrows of Slaying exclusively for my build. What would you say is the best build for it? I'm thinking it's Eldritch Knight Fighter 11 and maybe a level in War Cleric. Also prob get Titanstring Bow on top. IDK if there is a way to get the arrows of slaying to work with say Sneak Attack or Volley. I also can't seem to find what's the most efficient way to farm arrows or the strength potions, most of the methods I found seem to be patched out.
Hey I figure the best place to ask you would be the newest video. I've never used the Zaithisk bonus action for Ilithid Powers. Wondering if you had a build that utilized that mechanic maybe along side some synergy with Arcane Acuity to make sure they land.
In tabletop, round 1: you can sneak attack on your turn, then sneak attack as an opportunity attack on the enemy’s turn. Round 2: do the same. Ceph is saying that in BG3, round 1: sneak attack on your turn, then sneak attack as an opportunity attack. Round 2: zero sneak attacks, not on your turn, not on the enemy’s turn. Round 3: you can start sneak attacking again. Basically, if you opportunity attack sneak on round 1, you take away your round 2 sneak attack.
@@kazukomatsu7197 Yep exactly, with the added complication that sometimes the game won't give you the option to do the double sneak attack and sometimes it will - I think it has to do with the overall turn order, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly when you can and cannot.

I'm surprised you seem so offended, just trying to help.
Your opener was:
- inaccurate correction in all caps
- doubling down on your inaccurate correction
- adding a second inaccurate correction
Does that seem like the person who chooses to present themselves that way is going to be fun to chat with? Hope that helps!
Have you done a team build with builds that focus on classes that refresh their main functionality on short rests?
Hey I figure the best place to ask you would be the newest video. I've never used the Zaithisk bonus action for Ilithid Powers. Wondering if you had a build that utilized that mechanic maybe along side some synergy with Arcane Acuity to make sure they land.
Tabletop rogue can sneak attack once/turn as well. Not round. The same tactic you provided is the same “exploit “ to use in tabletop.
YEEEEEES
Cheers!
@cephalopocalypse - could you expand on the adjustments you'd make for this to be more bleed focused (beyond what's mentioned for barbarian).
Mystique paladin
🔥🔥🔥
Surprised the Bhaal armor isn't suggested (vulnerability to piercing) on the ranger/rogue.... *too* strong?
No more chop, chop, chop
Fun 😊
Thanks!
I do think horde breaker is better than action surge for sustained combat.
Next one ....full range or full spell caster.
I was wanting to do a full summon one . Look fun on the paper but boring because every figth are so long and the IA moove pretty bqd out of figth .
Check the first party guide I did! It's all ranged characters
no views in one minute my goat is washed 😔
Would u like to make a build revolving around illithid powers
I may at some point for sure!
is there a reason you wouldn’t just use Karlach as the Monk becuase of Soul Coins and unarmed attack interaction and make Lae'zel the Barb?
Nope, you can do that!
@@Cephalopocalypse thanks for the reply
I thought character 4 was going to be a BM with a pole arm.
Also a good pick!
Me see video about bonk builds me like🗿
You should show some fight in practice.
I entirely blame you for the fact have so many uncompleted playthroughs 😂😂
Masochist + Pacifist Please!
True strike is broken
Pally can't get into fights without losing oath...👎
Wizard hater gang
Timestamps?
In the video already?
@@Cephalopocalypse Not for me, not on android app.
Paladins are extremely annoying. Even Vengeance. The oath breaks constantly.
I think, paladin isn't problem here 😅
paladins require a lot of thinking ahead of time and meticulous decision making to optimize in honor. but also, just dont be mean?
@@martafartaviewingchannel-ep7cm Vengeance is easy but the other two are a huge pain to navigate. I remember losing oath with paladin dialog option. Like - waaaat, why...
Too many videos
you okay there bro?
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the support! I really appreciate it - glad you enjoyed the video :D
