These time lapses do a nice job showcasing the skills Ken and his crew bring to a job, starting with concrete (which many guys sub out) through framing and finishing. And seeing them pre-fab walls off-site shows they are working smarter and incorporating some modular production methods. Well done!
A good way to end the year. From start to finish. I’m thinking it’s about time for a review of material and how it’s gone down or up. Thanks for this fantastic year of building.
I think it’s a great idea to see where we collectively stand. I know it took me three days to get a quote from carrol concrete which made me gasp. I am out of state right now so chasing the time zone difference made it hard. These videos also make it easier to locate local supply alternatives. Instead of dealing with New Hampshire mills, there are local miller’s who can help. Guys within a radius of Reygate. So Ken, where is your closet Lowe’s or Home Depot?
I don't remember the site work on this one. Nice job! Slab goes in like butter! Wall building like clockwork. They work opposite each other to avoid nails going into each other. The walls go up so fast. Sheathing flies on. Cutting out the doors and windows. Trusses up! Just Chad and Dan doing then for a time. Plywood the roof! Nice shoes Ken! Chad bringing up plywood so fast to Dan. Sheathing the gable ends. Roof membrane up. House wrap on and windows and doors installed. I like the grade stake idea for the ladder. Roof rakes up. Soffit on. Garage doors installed. Metal roof panels on. I like the "super perfect" with Dan on a roll! Vinyl siding on. Beautiful! I love these "super" builds where you can see it from start to finish in one video. Thanks for this Ken! The first build of last year too. I hope your Christmas was wonderful!
Glad to see plastic down first. It is hard to get the old timers to use plastic around here. They sure embraced the idea of drilling and using anchor bolts instead of setting them in wet concrete.
You were clearly a little more sprightly back then Ken, then you picked up a couple of injuries during the year. Take it steady now buddy and let the younger ones do the climbing! Lauren already has enough to do!
I think yall should be putting the house wrap overtop of the window flange and tucking your window tape underneath the wrap. To me it also doesn’t make sense to tape the bottom flange as that is going to stop water from escaping. Let me know what you think?
Oh, I didn't know you did the groundwork too, I thought you contracted it out. Was thinking about another one of your videos where you discussed pros & cons of using outside contractors.
I have only seen you put down a small pad for the door, and a small overhang above the door to prevent rain getting on you. I would opt for at least the pad. Is this a cost thing? Or people don't think of it until you are gone? Maybe its just me, lol.
Nice work. What about snow weight on the lower pitched back side of roof? I don't see any extra bracing? required? Are you using 3/4 pine roof decking? Thank You I enjoy your videos.
watching the roof go on, i wonder how long it will take for the rust that forms on the backside of the metal roofing to appear on the outside? just wondering why you didnt just use some 1x3 perlins?

That's a great idea!
Oh no! Please, not another price volatility video! More building and droning yes, raw prices? No! 😁

Thanks
Honest prices with great craftsmanship. Who could ask for more?
Thanks
Yeah, good stuff Ken & Crew. Thank you..Happy New Year from the UK
Happy new year! Thanks for watching
Olde fashioned craftsmanship is good to see. It’s the norm here, but a reminder of how rare it is today. Thank you Ken and krew…
Thanks for watching
Many contractors would charge $75,000 to build that in my area. Maybe even more than that! I would say gouging people is how it's done here!
The right tools. The right knowledge. Perfect.
Really enjoy these look backs. Thanks for the memories 😊
Glad you like them!
I just love the old buildings and the small town atmosphere.
Nice
Hope you and your family had a nice Christmas.
You and your crew work so much faster the second time around, ha ha
Haha thanks
I wish I could find a crew like yours in Minnesota Ken. Honest work, honest pricing. Is that too much to ask for!
I appreciate that!
You guys have mastered the "process"...the key to a smooth operation...and so few people know how to do it.
Thanks
As always beautiful work.. Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Years to you guys and all yer kin!!🎉
Thanks. You too
Can we build it? . . . Yes we can. Happy New Year from Calgary, Alberta.
Haha. Happy new year

You sure are proficient with that nail gun.
Haha

You’re right
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
Greetings

The tape seals tight to the house wrap so it shouldn’t leak. We haven’t had call backs in 35 years.
Good morning! Lovely weather for a december day Ken! Hahaha..............
Good morning
Here you must use wet straps @ door opening and hold downs- plus soil testing. lol
Hey Ken, nice to see you put the project prices back
You bet
Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing.
Happy new year!
Top job to the team.
Thanks
Look good on the excavator. God bless.
Haha thanks
Awesome job guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Great job guys, Happy New Year to all of you.
Thanks
Very nice.
Thank you

Occasionally. Thanks

Ken, may I have a video showing your "preframed" wall units factory?
Thank you for all your work, amazing!
I’ll see what I can do
O my Amazing Job 👏👍💪🏆🏆👴🐕🚜🦌🤠😎🙏🙏💙
Ken I got the impression that this was built early January.
This one was in May of last year
@@kenskarpentry oh okay, is that “the first of the year” for you then?
Good video. Ken what is your favorite style of garage and favorite to build.
Like each one because of their variety
Nice work.
What about snow weight on the lower pitched back side of roof? I don't see any extra bracing? required? Are you using 3/4 pine roof decking?
Thank You
I enjoy your videos.
The trusses are rated for snow load in the area. We use 5/8 cdx plywood on the roof.
Ken, do you often have to do little shaves on the roof ply to keep it true?
Not not really
Nice work. How long did that one take you guys?
About 2 weeks
watching the roof go on, i wonder how long it will take for the rust that forms on the backside of the metal roofing to appear on the outside? just wondering why you didnt just use some 1x3 perlins?
We’ve done it for 35 years without a problem
Finito is the word you were looking for, or in French, Fin.
Haha thanks
Only 3 months till spring 🌼, how many more years are you going to do this physical labor ken?
Not much
👍💜😊
Didn't see any compaction on the base before concrete. Did you do it and not show it to shorten the video ?
Yes
Hi. Why was 1 sheet of wall inside the new garage a different colour than all of the rest? Andrew
Could have been the top sheet from a full unit of plywood
I had thought this was Lyndon village. Now I'm thinking Barton?
Close??
St. Johnsbury
That Lowes house wrap is a terrible W.R.B. water seeps right through it.
No footings?
I know one has to do what customer wants but isn't plywood unnecessary with a metal roof?
I prefer plywood so they can have shingles as an option later and it’s so much easier to get around on the roof
How many nails does a 24 x 24 salt box require?
About $300 worth
Is that 29k your cost or what they homeowner paid?
Homeowner
Ken, have you seen Big Foot lately?
Not sure where he is
@@kenskarpentry He just enjoys his privacy.
That's how much I paid for my 1st house in the 70's lol😂
Haha true
Ken it’s good that your jobs are perfect as we are not apart from the Lord
Amen
Metal roofing doesn't look good, rubber one make looks better
