I was gonna say the same thing. That legend passed away in 2008 about 14 years ago. I think he is tellin about the film culture of skateboarding and the jackass scene
The guy with the cap backwards just happened to be there. George is talking about something very common. He definitely would've said that whether the guy was there or not. Carlin sticks to his well crafted script.
. I am 63 ... retired US Coast Guard officer now living in Philippines with my lovely Filipino wife, I grew-up on Carlin and Richard Pryor ..(I saw Carlin in a small comedy club in Los Angeles 20 years ago) .. these Dudes will EDUCATE you .. Peace .
Love George Carlin! He thought faster than he talked and it was always about anything he randomly wanted to complain about. He would read a daily newspaper and have 2 hours of material. He knew when to be respectful and polite and he knew when it was ok to speak his mind. Very intelligent and not afraid to play dumb. Lol!
George Carlin was one of the all time great comedians and thinkers. Nobody said it quite like him. He had such a unique perspective on so many things, he made you laugh with the truth. The day he passed away was one of the saddest days.
5:25 Carlen (as most comedians) had a set script. I remember someone else talking about it , they would watch him running though the set, and actually looking at empty seats like he was pointing out someone. He always looked at the same spots during his runs. It was the production (usually HBO at this time) would find and clip in someone like this guy in the hat, in the audience, to make it seem like he was calling that person out.
Great vid Ladies. Carlin was decades ahead of his time... check out his stuff from the 70s keeping in mind the societal mindsets of the time. He got more fed up as time went on and admitted so in many interviews over the years. We needed George to keep us questioning our own feelings and thoughts. He kept us on our toes. A great loss to the world. RIP Mr Carlin.
Some of George Carlin's material is dependent on the time he was discussing it. He was an observational comedian looking at the world and commenting on relevant society events. For photofinishing, check out the movie "One hour photo". Also during the time the big shoulder mounted VHS (tape) cameras was what he was discussing so that when the cameras came out, people bought them and made lots of filming of the least things as well. In the case of cowboys, it was people being the "Urban Cowboys" who were not really cowboys, but pretending or want-to-bes. Again, see "Urban Cowboys" movie to get an idea. Movies listed are just movies, but they did reflect the time so you can get some depth on what was being picked on.
That's crazy what your mom said. I was bullied throughout high school and now it's like that made me the person I am. I'm just so confident and what I can accomplish and I felt it made me stronger.

George Carlin is a “wordsmith”, he loves the language and knows how to play with it.. he is a Genius! I’ve been watching him since the ‘60’s, every time I see his Act, it leaves me Thinking and that’s a good thing! RIP George! Please, more George! And while I’m at it, try “George Lopez” he’s Hilarious!…. SanJoséBob
20:37 Great point. We need to stop treating our politicians like celebrities too, and actually hold them accountable. They are supposed to be serving us not themselves and their corporate donors.
Yeah.... keep in mind that Gorge was a comedian. Whatever he says might not be really true and he didn't believe it but, it was said just for the humor value
The dude they put the camera on in the audience had been heckeling George all night, that's why he said that. George had had enough so he adlibed that into his sketch.
I genuinely believe that George Carlin helped to hold back the new age woke, PC, outrage culture, oversensitive country we live in today. If he was alive and active in his craft I think things would be a little different today. That’s a lot of influence for one man but it’s somehow true.
So Great. George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Flip Wilson... I was blessed with these three. They Pretty much raised me. Now with George, he get's 'sarcastic' a lot. Hilarious and always makes me think.. luv.
Your Mom is so smart. I loved her talking about all the crap we endure growing up which takes its toll on a person and programs them to be less confident or even less inspired to go out and do better for themselves. Great video. With love, a friend in California.
12:30 there is nothing easier than roasting men. i say this as a man. our flaws are so obvious and we accept it readilly because we think our flaws are funny. it would be cool if women can do that too. edit: i'm sorry, my wife hit me with the pan cause i wrote this. women's issues are not funny.
Love you Guys & your reaction videos . So look forward to them . Keep them coming as there is not a lot to laugh about these days . Huge fan from Australia .
Back when, there wasn't such things as well phones or any camera that put the images on a sd card. We actually had to have film in our cameras and then take them to the drugstore or wherever and have the film developed. Well then, along comes 1 hr photo or same day developing stores and that's what George was talking about. 😎🤔🤗
If you watch the whole special, you will see that the guy they showed in the audience wearing the hat backwards was heckling George carlin all night. This is how George carlin got him back without singling him out. He ad-libbed that whole part.
Didn't know that. Everything Carlin did on stage was scripted, memorized and performed beforehand. To throw the heckler in the mix was testament to his experiences over the years. Thanks for the info 👍
Photo Finishing: from "back in the day" when there were no digital cameras, every camera used film. the open shutter let light in to "expose" the film, Photo finishing was developing the film into negatives and printing the photographs from the negatives.
Carlin is one of my all times favs. That irony, that sarcasm all surrounded by a directness you seldom see from others. He pinpoints problems in the society with ease. Sadly most people from his country do not understand what he is really saying
GEORGE WAS A VERY INTELIGENT COMEDIC GENIUS!!!!!! I's wonderful to see younger people re-discover him. RIP George..... We love ya still...... Mike in LA, Calif, USA
George made the joke about white guys wearing backwards baseball hats on the spot. I was at this show: March 30, 1996 at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan. It was shown live on HBO like many of the 14 HBO comedy shows he did between 1977-2008 (they’re all on UA-cam or on dvd). George was one of the most famous American comedians ever, and his shows attracted all kinds of people. At this show there was a group of maybe a dozen white college age guys who were very loud and obnoxious. They probably had been partying before the show, and George attracted lots of people who loved to party. These guys kept yelling things through the show, it wasn’t anything mean, they just thought they were being funny. George got annoyed and put these spoiled drunken rich white boys in their place by making fun of their hats live with millions of people watching. You can see one guy with a white hat on and his face turning bright red he’s so embarrassed. It didn’t stop them (must’ve been the alcohol) because they kept yelling things. George had a very long career doing stand-up comedy, he was on numerous tv shows (he couldn’t swear on regular tv, but it was still hilarious) and even had his own tv shows. He was the first person to host the first Saturday Night Live in 1975. His last comedy special on HBO was called “It’s Bad For Ya” and was filmed 4 months before his death. It was one of his best and well worth watching, it’s on UA-cam. George died at age 71 in 2008 of heart failure. Had he lived I’m sure his head would’ve exploded over Trump, and he would’ve told everyone in 2016 and 2020 to vote to make sure that someone this dishonest, dangerous & stupid doesn’t become president.
Carlin was a legend...he touched on serious social issues that, in any other environment, would get you banned but because he was a comedian and peppered it with humor ,got away with it...a true master of the craft.
George doesnt really improvise, his acts are like well rehearsed plays. Its like a symphony of common sense and irony. He is a legend!!! So happy to see others enjoy a mans work who helped shape my mindset. Thanks for sharing, and keep going!!!
Katherine jaymes more george carlin please george was controversial to some people but the man made you think he was a philosopher comedian he was not only hilarious but a thinker brilliant.
One hour photo finishing was a process in which people would take film rolls to a store or pharmacy to be processed. The one hour was the time when they were being developed. If the photos weren't ready after one hour, then the customer would usually receive a few dollar's discount.
Before that you'd drop your film in an envelope at the photo stand at the supermarket and pick it up in a week and pay for your photos along with your groceries at the checkout. Of course some dude saw all your photos while he was developing them. Robin Williams made a movie where that was a plot point I think.
As I've gotten older I've found some of carlins stuff, especially his more biased stuff, less funny, but his delivery and wit and storytelling were the very best. His State Prison Farm bit is awesome. I saw him a few weeks before he died, a bittersweet night.
Carlin's bit regarding people constantly filming has more to do with the fact that when hand-held cameras became the norm, they were every where to the point that schools were out right banning them from being brought in by parents, because of all the disruption parents were causing.
"one hour photo finishing" When people use to take pictures with a camera, you can bring the file to a "One Hour Photo" to have the film developed. You will have the pictures in one hour.
03:48 Photo finishing was a process used to create photographs. In his time cameras would only work when loaded with a spool or a reel of film. Once all pictures were taken the spool/reel of film would need to be developed/turned into actual hand held photographs and photo finishing places provided that service.
When cameras used to have actual film, you had to give it to someone at a store to "develop" them. Making me think a lot of guys got that job because naked pictures have been around forever, but digital cameras have been around for a lot less time.
LMFAO MY GOD ! she said "whats photo finishing" bro im done. im old. nope. not liking this lol.... back before the interwebs we have to get picture developed. at one point it took a day or two and then they had the 1 hour photo booths. lol i really have not seen one of those in a long time either. but still now i feel mad old.
Did George Carlin go off script, because he saw that white guy with the backwards hat in the audience? Yes, he absolutely did what needed to be be done. RIP George ✊
I love watching you two. Note: the droopy pants issue began in the prison system ages ago. The meaning is the person wearing their pants exposing their butt / panties, is advertising availability... aka, he is willing to be "had" or "taken". I told someone once, there is a positive side to prison. Three hots, a cot, and all the sex you can tolerate... Ladies, keep on reacting.
7:35 -- I could be wrong, but I thought the whole "pants below your ass" look was to mimic how prison inmates were signaling that they wanted $@#, and the whole Gangsta Culture incorporated that prison look for whatever reason but I suspect it was started by youngsters who saw how inmates looked but didn't know what it meant and just assumed it was the normal look
Close but as far I gathered, it had it do with how in juvie belts were not allowed ... there for low hanging pants showed you were a 'tough' guy that had been in juvie... which other kids then started to mimic.. and nowadays you have squares doing it.. which , like the earrings, started as a sub culture but now is utterly meaningless and just plain silly. As silly as the backwards baseball caps worn by grown man. Open a youtube channel and whenever you see a guy with a backwards baseball cap (and of course worn indoors on top of it all) chances are that he is 'merican. Or as silly as seeing guysin this day and age with do-rags while at the same time trying to portray themselves as 'real macho' man. I guess they never figured out what the meaning is of a do-rag.
At the end of the video, you had it right the first time wen you said "He is amazing" ... He is and always will be!! In 100 years people will still listen to him and everything he has said will still be relevant!

@@HEAVYMETALmovie1981 Oh believe me I didn't forget XD! This list is just something of a "starter set". I don't want to overwhelm them with too many at once.
Pant sagging, contrary to popular beliefs, didn't originate from prison. Pant sagging, wearing earrings to piss off the squares, all have the same thing in common. It's non conformity and a way to reject the ideals of the hegemony. Pant sagging is a form of protest. If I recall correctly, a renown linquist, a graduate of MIT, explained it succinctly. His name is Noam Chomsky.
One-hour photo finishing? Decades ago you bought a roll or cassette of film for your camera. When the roll of 20-24 shots was complete you brought it to a photo finishing/developing place. It could take 5 days to develop the film into pictures. But a place called Fotomat developed a system of getting your pictures in one hour. Of course, this was for pictures that were cheap/Instamatic type work not professional. When you watch George sometimes you have to look up what he was talking about because some things have dated. He talks video, we have DVDs now, he talks records & we went to CDs & streaming. He talks on regular phones & phone booths -- we have cells. Regular phones had answering machines the cells now have voice mail. The "dance" was Carlin carrying a camcorder on his shoulder. Rogaine is an FDA-approved drug to help regrow hair. That sort of thing. Some of Carlin's performances are over 20 years old.
It good to see that there is critical thinking going in this world and comedy brings this to light so we can take a good look are good vs bad parts of all society. And when we see just how we are behaving with each others and the common sense that is needed, perhaps we can get over ourselves and move on. Just Sayin'
I love the back and forth dialog reaction!! I don't always agree with George Carlin, but he's definitely entertaining. It's conversational entertainment.
Please keep in mind that at the time this was recorded, smart phones weren't around. Camcorders were state of the art
Heard that question and laughed.

Thank You girls... for helping keep George Carlin's legacy alive!
Hugs from Portugal!

also side bar. George would have hated how the world is now.

He’s my favorite of all time! Part comedian and part philosopher.
"We could use George Carlin now". Oh, so true words!
Carlin’s football and baseball routine is hilarious.

I recommend some Don Rickles videos. American comedic legend.

George Carlin - 50% comedian, 50% philosopher, 100% hilarious!
George on Saving the Planet is a must watch. 🌎
He’s basically an intellectual comedian. He gives you intelligent humor.
What made George so great is that he was so anti political correctness. Now days people would die from being offended.
Spot on!!! 👌😂😂😂🎯🎯🎯
This man was a genius philosopher. He held. Mirror up to society and was/is the GOAT of comedy
i think you will find a white guy with the baseball hat backwards in every audience lol

Or as silly as seeing guysin this day and age with do-rags while at the same time trying to portray themselves as 'real macho' man. I guess they never figured out what the meaning is of a do-rag.
George Carlin. May Joe Pesci rest his sole.😂
Hey Kathy! Tell your Mom: Great hair do in this video! She looks like your sister! :)
At the end of the video, you had it right the first time wen you said "He is amazing" ... He is and always will be!! In 100 years people will still listen to him and everything he has said will still be relevant!
Carlin wasn't afraid to speak the truth even if it made others upset. I'll leave a list of different links to some of his stand-ups:

This should be good for a start. Feel free to jump around the list in any order. Remember, George was not just a comedian, he was one of the greatest philosophers of all time.
Don't forget about *Airlines and flying!*
@@HEAVYMETALmovie1981 Oh believe me I didn't forget XD! This list is just something of a "starter set". I don't want to overwhelm them with too many at once.
I hope I am not out of order for saying this but these two ladies are beautiful in so many ways.....
I agree.
George exposes the stupidity of us all. He was a very smart man!
Carlin would have gone nuts over vloggers. lol
It good to see that there is critical thinking going in this world and comedy brings this to light so we can take a good look are good vs bad parts of all society. And when we see just how we are behaving with each others and the common sense that is needed, perhaps we can get over ourselves and move on.
Just Sayin'
Carlin is a beast I luv ❤️ him he tells the truth
I love the back and forth dialog reaction!! I don't always agree with George Carlin, but he's definitely entertaining. It's conversational entertainment.
People in prison know what saggy pants mean!! lol
George Carlin was a genius for stating serious topics in a comedic way
